Just this week I made the connection between my 6 year reading slump and my depression, that was quite a revelation lmao but im finally out of it and im starting to feel like my old self again

omg your singing is amazing! They both die at the end put me in my first slump ever, it was because I was expecting it to make me cry, so much to the point where when i finished, and didnt cry, I was so disappointed. (I still loved it though) I didnt want to read anything for months. Then I read Addie LaRue, and that book got me out of my slump.

I got a book hangover from They Both Die at the End! Some books just stick with me for a while, and that one was CRAZY. I had exactly the same experience with mistborn. I typically read quite quickly but it still took me ages to get through despite loving the book. I finally read books 2 and 3 at the start of this year and they were definitely worth it
How is it possible, that I watched you since like forever (I'm talking about, you had 1 shelf hahha) and I didn't know that you can sing this good? That actually sounded so good, it made me stop what I was doing and just listen

I love that you show that you can love a book but it atill causes a reading slump, I feel that most people think that if a book caused a reading slump then you hate the book... I'm currently reading Mistborn book 3, and I absolutly love love love it, but I *feel* you with why book 1 caused a reading slump for you, its slow progres! But I did want to say, at the back of each book they do have an overview of the previous book, so you could read that rather than re reading book 1? Anyway, great video as always!

I can’t even say what causes me necessarily a reading slump. There was a Uno reverse happening rather recently. So, I was pretty stressed out because I was working on three term papers at the same time for my hopefully 2nd last semester at uni, right? And I didn’t think I could really get to read books. But then suddenly, I had the giant urge to escape. So I worked on my papers at day and took flight into the world of fantasy worlds at evening. Aaaanyways… Your singing voice is so beautiful 🥺
I feel you on taking a long time to get done with a book Jesse 😅😄. Also, I heard this advice from Merphy Napier where you read a much shorter book beside the chunky one. If you read one book at a time then read a shorter one after the chunky 😁.
I had major slumps after reading the HP, PJO and the HOO series and The Book Thief and Heartless. I’ve noticed it tends to happen as well with autobiographies. It’s the connection with the characters for me. If there’s a book I’m not exactly liking because of pacing I try to push through and have a mandatory break before I move on to a different book. I always try to have an open mind but it can be hard sometimes lol. But because I’m still young I have confidence that I’ll find tons of books that I WILL love, I just have to keep reading. Everyone’s reading journey is unique to themselves and if you need breaks or if you find books that don’t fully resonate with you, that’s fine. You will eventually read something you really enjoy. 😊 P.S. I really like your singing voice! 💕
i've been in a reading slump since february 😔 a lot of it is from being exhausted from school and just not wanting to do anything, a toxic relationship, and just not being interested by anything, but i really wanna get out of this slump, i think i might try to reread an old favorite since the fear of the first book ill have read in months being bad is real and i don't wanna be disappointed 😅
Queen of Shadows also put me in a slump. I'm ride or die for the character you mention and I refused to read Empire of Storms until after Tower of Dawn. It just felt my boy got done dirty and I didn't want to accept it then lol.
Jesse, you have such a good singing voice! Also, your videos always put the biggest smile on my face. You're so funny and your editing skills are incredible 😊
This manga sires is not done, but when I was up to date on it I got into a reading slump. The sires was D Gray Man. This sires is just so filled with sorrow and grief. You watch these characters go through these sorrowful things and they are in a very toxic situation. The characters have so much depth and react to these situations in such a real way. I could not move on from this sires for a while after catching up.
The Book Thief is one that I still haven’t finished - it’s just sitting in my Kindle/book app and I haven’t finished it. I agree with the slow pace and I think it’s one that I’m just not enjoying as much in ebook format, because of the pacing and type of book. I almost wonder if I had a physical copy if it would be easier to pick back up… right now to immerse myself back in the book is just not happening yet 😖😖
Currently in a reading slump after reading It Ends With Us for the exact same reason you were in a slump from the book thief!!! I don’t want to move on!!!
I go through the same of what I’ve seen from a lot of people; after reading a REALLY great book, it’s difficult to pick up something else. One, because I don’t want to leave the world in which I’ve just been so immersed; two, I’m scared of being disappointed by a new book, because there’s no way it can compare to the amazing read I just finished!!! BTW, since you did like Sanderson, I’d recommend reading Warbreaker when you have a chance, or an inkling. It’s a standalone, and I loved the story; I’m hoping to do a reread sometime soon. Ish. That TBR pile is staring me down, though…
I've been known to read several books at once. Not literally all at the same time, but I'll start one on one day, then another the next, and then another the next, and I'll go back to the first one and just keep reading one or the other depending on my mood. That's great because it means big long books don't inhibit my reading progress as much, but it also frequently leads to me having piles of books I'm only five or so chapters into and it gets out of hand.
I totally get you about the book thief... it was my favorite book when I was younger, I kind of want to read it in English now... but I'm so afraid of grabbing it again
currently in a reading slump and it SUCKS so much 😭😭 for the past few months none of my books have really hit and while i do think that i need a good long break from reading, i just can’t bring myself to do it 😪
In a huge reading slump right now l. Thanks for the awesome video Jessie totally agree with all the slow mo zone feelings and not feeling like yourself. 😂
The Infernal Devices trilogy out me into a bit of a slump last year, because I just loved them so much. And then I read a thriller and a romance after I thought I recovered, and I didn't like either of them. And that put me in a big slump for almost a month
I read a thriller called A Deadly Divide that was just bad and put me off thrillers for a bit. Also read Ninefox Gambit a few years ago and just couldn't stay focused on it. Finished it but was still a little confused and had a hard time recalling most of the events in the book.
Queen of Shadows put me in a reading slump too the first time i read it bcs of where the story went with the characters.. it was so frustrating!! the re-read was better bcs i knew what to expect this time around, but heart's been broken so many times with this series..
We were liars by e. lockhart. I mistakenly didn't check content warnings and (I'm a very emotional person and sensitive when it comes to death) and I finished it late at night alone in the dark... definitely a bad decision. I ended up crying for a long time and needing to be comforted by a lot of people. It hurt me so much even though I didn't even connect to the people that when I was finished crying a leftover grief wave just hit me and didn't leave for a long time, at least it felt like it. It was only two or so weeks but for me that's a long time. Finally two weeks later, I read one of my favourite books of all time and it jolted me into the biggest reading high I've ever had, and that book was Again, But Better!!!
The first time I tried reading Mistborn I gave up and then got rid of the book. xD But I recently rebought the book wanting to give it another go! Good Luck!!
The audiobook narrators do a fantastic job! They're very good books and the characters go through some amazing growth!! Good luck and welcome to the cosmere!
I'm currently reading ACOTAR and I'm having difficulty reading on the first part of it. I loved the ToG series so much that's why I give this series a try.😅
You may not need to reread The Final Empire to get to books 2 and 3 (unless you just want to)! There is a recap of the events of the first book in the ars arcanum of the second (in the back of the book)
I’m currently reading the book thief. The first few pages were sad and I’m at the end of it and it’s just blow after blow and my heart can’t take it. It’s such a beautiful book but so sad.
i’m so glad that i read the ACOTAR and TOG series’ when i did, because i don’t think i’d like them as much now if i were reading them for the first time
DUDE U UNDERSTAND MT MISTBORNE PROBLEM!! Took me months to get through the first book and the second book has been sitting on my side table for three months. It’s just…. So much. I wanna get into the cosmere because I’ve heard such good things about it, but…. It’s just so much and it took me ages to get through the first book….
It's the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day for me. *Screaming and Crying* Every page was a struggle to go through and that's when I realised, romance was not for me and even after attempting to read romance novels after that, that fact still hasn't changed.
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab had the same effect on me as Mistborn had on you. It was just so must bigger than I'm used to and it took me 1.5 months to read which is rare for me, but I was loving it as I was reading it but I was also dreading picking it up because it was so big I was just so intimidated by the book. But having finished it I'm so happy because it was SOOOO GOOD
Oh my gosh I FEEL you with the Mistborn thing! 😭✋ Like it’s Brandon Sanderson (one of my two favorite authors) and it’s WONDERFUL but it’s LONG and I am also a slow reader.
The last year has been one big reading slump for me. I'm still reading, just not nearly as much as I used to. It's mainly because of school, like I have my A Levels in 2 weeks and the last year was mainly studying for an examn, examn, studying for another test, another test, studying... So yeah that was fun. But anywas, I'm through with school in a month and hopefully I'll be back on track with reading then
'The Fifth Season' and 'A Memory Called Empire' both were just so good i couldn't see how anything ever could top it. 'To The Sky Kingdom' this was my first time reading anything that had been translated into English and i had a hard time with the cultural changes. But it encouraged me to keep reading translated novels and now i have quite a few with more in my tbr. But as a disclaimer i don't recommend reading this book there is a lot of controversy surrounding it that the author took a BL story written by MXTX and made it straight.
I got into a reading slump last month with ACOTAR but because of all the hype surrounding it I didn’t DNF it. But I’m glad I didn’t! I ended up really liking it at the end!
Most books that are putting me in a slump right now is that I keep looking for something that I'm not sure exists lol. I've been trying to expand beyond YA, but the problem with a lot of adult novels is that they're very good but they require a good amount of my attention. Another thing is that a lot of the stories aren't interesting enough or they're predictable and even if I'm not quite correct, I'm correct enough and I get...bored. Trying to find a story that'll draw me in enough to get me out of this slump.
Currently reading The Guest List and I’m feeling a little slumpish. I don’t like to read multiple books at once, so I would like to get through this one since it isn’t too long or anything. But I’m finding myself just not caring about the story much 🤷🏻♀️
I started reading Dreamships about a month ago because it's a sci-fi set in space and the main character is this kick-butt woman ship captain. Written in the 90's by a lesbian author, so I was on board! But then, the pacing was soooooooo sloooooooow. By the time I got to page 100, I could count on 1 hand what things had actually happened in the story. So, I had to put it aside but I was so turned off, I didn't want to read for a while. Thank goodness it didn't last for more than a few days!!!😅
Ah, the good book hangover slump. Probably the best of all possible slumps. (I still need to read the third Mistborn book. I love me a big book, but I find Sanderson a slow read.) I've had several books put me into a slump because I really, really want to read the sequel right now, and that's just not possible.

Everyone’s reading journey is unique to themselves and if you need breaks or if you find books that don’t fully resonate with you, that’s fine. You will eventually read something you really enjoy. 😊
Jesse can sing!! I'm here for it! You have an awesome voice!!
That's great because it means big long books don't inhibit my reading progress as much, but it also frequently leads to me having piles of books I'm only five or so chapters into and it gets out of hand.
highly recommend checking out the graphic audiobooks for mistborn! they helped me get through the series in like 2 weeks
I totally get you about the book thief... it was my favorite book when I was younger, I kind of want to read it in English now... but I'm so afraid of grabbing it again
your shirt is so cool!!
currently in a reading slump and it SUCKS so much 😭😭 for the past few months none of my books have really hit and while i do think that i need a good long break from reading, i just can’t bring myself to do it 😪
In a huge reading slump right now l.
Omg you totally described what I’m feeling reading Mistborn right now. But idk if I love it, I mean it’s entertaining but draining
I completely agree with The Book Thief... it broke my heart, and it took me a while to recover and pick up another book.
I’m trying to get through Mistborn for the 1st time this month and LOL. The 24 hour audiobook is 💀
The first time I tried reading Mistborn I gave up and then got rid of the book. xD But I recently rebought the book wanting to give it another go! Good Luck!!
@@artbyamyk1000 thank you! I think the audio will hopefully help me push through 😅
It’s worth it in the end! The trilogy only continues to get better too!
Not Jesse singing Baby 😍 you sound so good!
Love the editing on this video!
Really digging the shirt!
Have you ever read Legendborn by Tracy Deonn?
Looking for a series or book for adults but with the Redwall series feel ! Anyone got recommendations?
Chaol Westfall Defense Squad always!!! I completely agree with your thoughts on queen of shadows and empire of storms
Fellow member of the Chaol Westfall Defense Squad!!
@@beccaferrell1334 This just made my day! So so happy to find a fellow Chaol lover 🥰🥰🥰
Omg your singing is fantastic!!!
What you said about The Book Thief is what I felt about Flowers in the Attic 😅
Yass A new Jesse vid! Luv ur vids!
I am reading The 5th Wave ATM and I'm not sure if I like it or not.😩
I love your singing at the end😊
But I’m finding myself just not caring about the story much 🤷🏻♀️
And the characters are all horrible. I slugged through that one last year.
you sing so good. the book thief is one of the books I got for my birthday
jesse your singing is SO good, what?
I started reading Dreamships about a month ago because it's a sci-fi set in space and the main character is this kick-butt woman ship captain. Written in the 90's by a lesbian author, so I was on board! But then, the pacing was soooooooo sloooooooow. By the time I got to page 100, I could count on 1 hand what things had actually happened in the story. So, I had to put it aside but I was so turned off, I didn't want to read for a while. Thank goodness it didn't last for more than a few days!!!😅
Jesse when is your book-related album coming out? like damn (and yes this is about that blooper)
Ummm Jesse??? Since when are you literally an amazing singer?? I’ve literally been watching you for years and years how did I not see this
Why are there three copies of Rule of Wolves?
Ah, the good book hangover slump. Probably the best of all possible slumps. (I still need to read the third Mistborn book. I love me a big book, but I find Sanderson a slow read.)
I've had several books put me into a slump because I really, really want to read the sequel right now, and that's just not possible.
im so sad that you get such less views T_T you put so much effort into your videos and the editing and they are all so gooooood >
it’s okay 😭 it’s probably because i haven’t been as active as i used to be, but hopefully it’ll pick up again in the future 🥲
The anxiety part is such a mood, honestly. 😅
i love the outfit !!
