In the ice storm of 2009, I was without lights for fifteen days and nights. I read 17 books. (It didn't even put a dent in my TBR pile.) I would bundle up and sit in front of a window so that the sun could warm me up and shine on my book.
How is it that no one's ever mentioned that Jesse has a perfect symmetrical face!!! I mean... When he flips the footage, nothing feels different! That's AWESOME
Okay but why is 4:39 so relatable. You always get the best ideas for your own stories when your reading another story and it's not always related to the thing your reading about 😂😂😂
Hey Jesse I just watched ur reading slump video and I wanted to just tell u that u have an amazing voice thank u for being u and making my day when u post more bookish content have an awesome day Jesse
I take off the dust jacket when reading but not really because I'm worried about it getting messy or anything. I just hate the feeling of the open book with the dust jacket still on cuz it doesn't fit right and it's just floating around and I just need it off 😂
This was more like a “let me help you with your reader habits” but hey! I’ll take it! XD I enjoyed this “sassy” book doctor, I’m here for it! 🤣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Great video to smile while I’m eating :3
I always find the approximate halfway mark before I read these days. I also find the end of the current chapter. And I put separate bookmarks at each of those spots. (I also have a third bookmark that actually goes wherever I actually an in the book, just in case I am forced to stop in the middle of a chapter or something; ssooo, when I actually am at the start of a chapter, I bookmark the end of the chapter where the next chapter starts. Lol!!!) It helps me motivate myself to feel accomplished, rather than overwhelmed. So I keep reading. Every time I can check one chapter off as completed, and also see myself actively getting closer and closer first to the halfway mark and then to the end. It lets me know I'm not just wasting my time, I am actually getting something done. ^-^
(Because a lot of the time these days, I don't even get to finish a whole chapter at a time, it can be so easy to feel sometimes like I'm not actually making any progress..even when I am...just sslloowwwllyyyy.😅😅😁👀 Loll So, doing this, has really been helping me not just let myself give up on reading entirely around all the other life/stuff going on around me right now. ^--^💖)

I used to be able to always remember where I was a never use bookmarks too! Then my brain got old and decrepit or something and now I have to use bookmarks or I will never know where I am without them. 👀 😅🙃🤣🤣
Every time I am reading a book and its time to finish for the day I look at how long is the next chapter, just to see if I wanna quickly read it... Let's say it often doesn't end on only one chapter :)
Reading should not send us to the hospital! Love this! I do have to say I take off the dust jackets, and if I’m bored I will read the end to see if it’s worth it 😂

I have a weird habit of checking to see how far along I am in a book a few times per reading session, even if the book is awesome, and have to remind myself that enjoying the process is the goal so chill out. My weirdest one is something I only caught onto recently; Whenever I'm REALLY loving a book, and I doze off, I end up snuggling the book or Kindle against me like a teddy bear. Didn't even realize I was doing it until one day it dawned on me. I guess an amazing book is my emotional support animal? 🤷🏻♀
My weird habit is checking how many pages and how many chapters a book has before reading it. It's a dangerous way to live, considering I can accidentally catch a line on the last page and ruin something for myself, but I still do it! 😅
I also plot the best bookmark for my current reads. The fastest speed I've been able to read is 2.5 and audiobooks help me focus on my physical copies (and read them faster).
literally you saying jack and jill unlocked a core childhood memory for me. i started singing the song, when the last time i did so was when i was a child 😭😭
agh i have one, my fingers hurt 24/7 cause i eat the skin around my nails, they're ugly and keep hurting plus i get scolded by my mother and sister -i asked them to thinking I'll stop doing it- still no solution and i obviously tried NOT to eat them while reading, but it's just so hard i get irritated if i keep my hand stay still, i need to move them in some way and eating the skin kinda satisfying.. maybe not the pain.
My weird thing about me when I read my audiobooks is the narrator for some reason has a lot to do with how much I like the book l. I’ve returned too many audiobooks bc I can’t focus bc of the narrators voice. Another habit I have is I love to get audiobooks of my physical books so I can follow along and focus better ❤️

Hi jessi! Im only 13, and i read kids chapter books, but my moms a reader and is starting mrs. peregrines home for peculiar children. Sorry i dont know the exact name.
I don't get removing the dust jackets to read a book. Because books are meant to be read, and therefore they will probably be somewhat damaged in the process even if you take care of them. I don't mind if my books get damaged in the process as long as they're still readable. So I don't mind things such as cracked spines, which I know bugs some people. Sometimes there is a slight tear in the dust jacket at the top or bottom of a hardcover, again I don't mind. I feel like some people may see this as a weird reading habit, but I see this as reality. A habit that I have that I do see as weird is the fact that I read when I game. I will be on the laptop playing a game, and I will have a book with me that I will be reading as I play. It is actually one of the reasons I get through books so quickly. Another reason why I do is that I read as part of my breaks. So if I finish a task, I reward myself by reading a chapter or a scene or a selection of pages from a book.
I count the pages to the next chapter and estimate how long it’ll take to read it so I know whether to start it or not, like if I was reading in school
I always take photos of like 1 chapter of the Book I‘m reading and send them to my mail account. When I‘m at work I‘ll read them on my monitor so nobody knows that in fact I‘m not currently working bc they see me staring at my monitor lol 🤓
My weird reading habbit is I don't have a tbr. When I get a new book it gets a number. When a random number generator pics that number I'll read that book. When I don't do this I'll spend hours trying to decided what to read next.
I don't know about others, but when I take my kindle into the bath with me I use one of those waterproof bag things that allow you to still use your touch devices. (it's like $11 on amazon) It's designed to be underwater for hours, I think it can protect my kindle from a few second accidental dunk if/when I drop it. 😆
Here's my weird reading habit: I hate other people spoiling a book, but if I am really enjoying a book, I will read anywhere from the last sentence to the last chapter of the book, to make sure it ends well. (It probably comes from the trauma of reading Where the Red Fern Grows at 13, and then sitting on my toy box, absolutely sobbing, at 3 AM, after I finished the book.)
