Does that plug and play for any car or just for your mx6? I'm trying to find a megasquirt that can be used in a 3rd gen Mitsubishi eclipse gs. the way I see it, the simpler the install, the better.
+Dylan McElveen don't listen to him. it's specific to the car. each car has different setups for cam and crank position sensors and distributors and coil pack firing and all that. this ECU is for the MX6 only. I'm sure they make some kind of standalone ECU for an eclipse. popular cars as they are. I highly recommend getting a plug and play one for your car. building your own is hard and frustrating. they sell generic megasquirt ECU, but you have to wire it for your car. which is a big hassle. I would never do that
mega squirt is universal . you program it for your app. and buy the harness or adapter for OE harness. mega squirt is for basically anything and can be used with basically any engine.
What about all the other emission stuff on cars? How does the computer handle controlling that stuff? If it ignores it your fuel system won't vent correctly, your cats can burn up if they are run too rich without any air injection, etc...
tempest411 I know some people use megasquirt and pass emissions just fine. Where I live, we don't have emissions requirements, and we don't use cats :)
Please be aware that your audio (voice) fades and you slur the accronems and subsequently one loses your intent. I believe you have the knowledge, but you need to perhaps make an outline to provide yourself with more confidence and subsequently have a better presentation. It was difficult to follow you. This is not just you, but many who do UA-cam presentations.

megasquirt isnt a chip. its a full stand alone system so you can tweak, add, adjUst, and monitor your cars every move.
