    I love how you overlayed Tuner Studio into the video, good stuff.

      What can I say, I'm a visionary. But really, I was trying to make it so people could understand what was going on.

      When I use Autotune I usually stop, save to ECU, and start fresh again every 5 minutes or so, I think there's a limit on how much TS will change the cells per "session" of tuning. And I'm sure you figured this out at some point but when you change between CL and OL idle you have to power cycle the MS before the change will take effect. (The message will show on the main gauge cluster but not on the VEAL screen.)

    • @EuroGarageOfficial

      Interesting, I will need to do this.
      Yeah, I realized that after the fact, I got my idle down off camera with adjustment of the PID.
      Thank you Greg.

    definite favorite, came back to it 3 times just to see how your E30 performed with the learning process. Was working on my buddies E30 back in december so this helped out a lot especially with the overlay. keep it up!

    wow your suspension is solid haha! I recently put the bilstein b12 pro kit and eibach anti-sway bars on my E30 - Handles like a dream now. Going for the Z3 steering rack next.
    Also 6:42 the coloured bits on the right hand side of the tuning software look like Bowser & Mario!

    I have tuned my RX7 with megasquirt and TunerStudio, I would recommend while youre driving around to hit the "apply and then Save to ECU button every few minutes. That whole drive (from what I can tell) you drove around on the same map. Those corrections do not take effect until its been applied. Sometimes the ECU makes a correction, and then needs to re-adjust and add fuel back. I now see this video is almost a year old so you've already figured that out by now I bet.

  • @HooverTuber
    @HooverTuber 7 років тому

    this is cool. You should load your map into MLV so you can see where you fuel cells are at at various rpm and load. It's really helpful, and you can tweak cells right there to fine tune your map.

    favorite vid as you overlayed the tuner studio and show you its not a simple but if you put time into it you can get a map thats 1/2 decent. Most builds on UA-cam skip this part but you went all out showing all the steps not just the fun stuff

    Just did my front wheel bearings! It's pretty darn easy and will probably take you an hour or so. Buy the bearings with the hub pressed in. Car sounds awesome with the turbo fully spooled.

    • @EuroGarageOfficial

      What tool did you use?

    • @Saltybeast86
      @Saltybeast86 7 років тому

      I used FAG's as well. I had to buy a craftsman 12 point thin walled 36mm socket from Sears, a 3 jaw puller, and a long torque bar (3 feet recommended). Everything else should be pretty straightforward. There are some good videos on youtube actually (e30 and e36 should be almost the same).

    • @Saltybeast86
      @Saltybeast86 7 років тому

      I would also recommend buying a new wheel nut and front dust cap since they may get damaged when removing.

  • @samuelcorbett243

    Hey dude, good on you for having a crack at it yourself. It's not that bad once you get going! I do notice at 20:00 you have sync issues (Loss Sync Count). In MLV on the left hand side, select 'Loss Sync Reason' and lookup the number. You probably have to adjust the VR sensor a tiny bit from experience putting a DIYPNP in my touring :)

    when it's so lean, either it's because of underpressure fuel cut and the lambda reading is laggy(it's right after you went off throttle) then it's fine, or you need more acceleration enrichment.

    • @EuroGarageOfficial
      @EuroGarageOfficial  7 років тому

      Carl Benz Yeah. My fuel cut is set up. It may need more enrichment. Gotta read some damn forums.

    • @carlbenz3341
      @carlbenz3341 7 років тому +2

      I don't mean that the fuel cut isn't set up, there's really not much too it, you probably can't even get that wrong... :D
      maybe your O2 reading is a bit delayed...
      therefore giving you a lean reading.
      You have to drive depending on what you want to see/tune.
      make wot-pulls(starting at idle if possible, revving to redline if you are confident enough) in different gears that way you can sort out the fuel table pretty quick.
      if you want to tune the acc enrichment.
      go from cruising to full load at different rpms and loads and see how the car reacts.

    Hey brother, please don't take this as hating because I dig your build, I have a boosted EK Civic coupe that I built myself. You probably did it for a reason, but I would've straight piped the E30. Those straight sixes just sound absolutely amazing, especially with a turbo bolted to them. That's just my 2 cents. In all actuality, it probably sounds much better in person or on throttle, but you didn't rev it at all and I'm watching it on my phone so I'm sure it doesn't give the full effect.

    Try unplugging your throttle position sensor to see if that throttle oscillating will stop. That's what I tracked it down to when I had the same idle issue.

    My e30 made that same noise when my diff was about to blow up on me..... You should be looking for 10 to 15° with an afr of 13.5 to 14:7.1 at idle...

  • @1one3_Racing
    @1one3_Racing 7 років тому

    Fat and happy is right! After each pull you'd be able to write your name in the soot! I think I saw 9.1 in there somewhere.
    After tuning methanol RC cars it was hard to tune real engines. RC cars you tune then as lean as possible until they melt the piston rings for throttle response. I guess it would be around 16-17.
    Race cars you want them more around the 11-12 range.

    So what are those colors on the fuel map? The cursor while you're driving I'm assuming is where on the fuel map you are, but what are the colors? Blue = off pedal, green = healthy, red = danger Will Robinson? Thinking of going MS on almost a stock M20 simply for stand alone management. Need some advice.

    • @danielhartman7891

      Duane Martinez the m42 isn't too great for fi, your car would be better for m30 + turbo.

      Forced Induction. Turbo or supercharger. A few folks have turboed the m42 but it doesn't take boost like the sixes do. Drive train swap is a good choice for your car and should you choose the m30 you can boost the ever living tar out of those.
