Quick how to on changing or replacing your stereo for a aftermarket head unit or radio. Hope this do it yourself tutorial helps you wire your new stereo and walk you through removing the old ford f150 2003 stereo
Man gets straight to the point and explains everything right. Nice video
Thanks the screwdrivers was way easier than wasting time making a tool I'll only use once. You rock
Sweet install. I’ve been struggling with my 2003 F150 stereo wiring harness. Your detail on the individual wires was very helpful. Thanks man!
Great comment about the mic, I never thought of that!
Great tutorial! Thanks.
What installation kit did you use?
Thank you for all, the steps,
Great video!!!!
Best of best !!! 🔥🙏🏾🎓🎓🎓🙏🏾🔥
Will this deck still operate the 6 disc changer?
cut and trim the kit instead of the truck you can always replace the mount kit
Is there a link for the dash kit ?
Question Here ::: If I dont have a wiring harnes adapter witch cord of the 2 that you took out of the oem radio should I cut to wire directly from a aftermarket stereo wires
I hope you didn’t learn the hard way
What radio worked in the truck
Hey buddy, what is the other harness for that plugs into the back of the stereo, the square one? I know the rectangle harness is the one they sell you to wire up a new radio but I have no clue what the other ones for?
Same question here
@@espz0359 Hey bud, I never figured it out but I used a harness for the other side and it had everything necessary. My only guess is the other harness plug is for the amplifier that came as an option on some F150s.
It’s for factory amplifier
Thanks for the video, bro. Have a question, in my 03 Harley Davidson my stock stereo and my A/C control Are just the same as yours, now my issue is, I did all the wiring, BUT... at nite time IF any HEADLIGHTS are ON, stereo works fine. BUT if LIGHTS are OFF, stereo ll go on MUTE, If my headlights control is in position OFF its MUTE, it is ON or AUTOMATIC it’s not mute. Please help.!
i have a 1999 f 150 lariat and i bought a unit sony XAV-AX1000 and i believe i also need mount dash kit like yours can you please tell me the part number or the placed where you got it i appreciate it
Did you use both connectors? I have 2 on my 1999 f150
only one@@mattrobinette6809
Did you use 1 or both red adaptors to wire this?
Just 1
What’s the other red connector from the truck?
You have two wires underneath the dash or nurses which one do you use for the radio and what's the other one for presidency here
The audio is so good lol
well done
I just got a 1999 f150 and the last owner cut the radio wires straight across i need to figure out each wire function individually
The12volt.com vehicle wiring diagrams look up your year make model. find the one with the wires that match what you're looking at and it should explain it
Are you still happy with the deck ? Is the sound ok ?
Was for a friend, he loved it until he sold the truck a while ago
Which wire harness are you using? Is it from Metra
Yes. This one was just a simple metra harness
Thnk u
Where do I connect the green wire to parking brake
Depending on the stereo you’re using you can just attach it to the black wire if it’s a Kenwood or a JVC if it’s a pioneer You need to run it to the parking lot or a relay for a TR7
@@ghostlyrich Sony
Nice
How can I straight wire it my harness got cut off
Go to the 12volt.com under vehicle wiring, look up you vehicle, click radio wiring. Should gove you a color read out but make sure you double check with a volt meter
Hooked everything up and no sound for some reason. It had the OEM radio and I don't have an amp but worked without one. Now it powered up fine but nothing coming out the speakers :/
Was there a second plug on yours?? If so could have a factory amp
Yea mine has a separate second plug.
@@benjaminrivera117 all right perfect sounds like you have a factory amp what I would do is make sure the black wire goes to black and that blue blue white wire on the other one goes to the blue white on your new stereo. That way your stereo tells it to turn on now you might have to go in and make sure that, the remote wire is turned on in your stereo it’s different per stereo so just quickly read over your manual
@@benjaminrivera117 also the one that I said, I wasn’t hooking up in the video, the amplifier ground make sure that your ground that one
@@ghostlyrich sweet I'll get it figured out lol I was up late as hell trying to troubleshoot 😆
Why does every video skip getting the original wires out….that’s where I’m stuck.
It’s at that age now that all the factory ones died lol. If you want to know factory wiring Color got to the12volt.com and look up wiring diagrams
@@ghostlyrich My issue was getting enough room to get my hands in and get the clips out of the factory wiring harness. I finally got it though and your info on the wire connections was very helpful. As of today my new to me 01 f150 has working AC and a BT stereo. Thank you for your assistance!
And good luck getting that install out if that radio fails or whatev
Too many wires lol
Dude. The reason.most people look yo this video is that Ford has a funky colot schemstic.(
