Great video, its good you show parts that are difficult to get in and out,and the tips you give to get them sorted, a over flowing washbasin caught me out last week, maybe not cleaning the condense trap out in there might help 😂
your good ,i used to help my gas engineer brothers on daily jobs and updates ,new boilers ect,but i learn a lot more details watching you ,you know your way around a boiler ,i remember his words ,"you can tell a gas engineer by the way they take the case off" lol.great videos you make.
I've had many of these. In dublin people think they don't need to get a service and wonder why there boiler is beyond repair. The parts all have to be imported and they're not cheap. If I get a boiler with water damage like that it's in the customers best interest to get the new boiler with the warranty. Unfortunate bad news to have to deliver but you only found the problem you didn't create it. I'm sure if it could be saved you would save it. It is what it is 👍👍👍
Thanks mate…Is unfortunate for customer but these things happen, maybe Worcester will send a new heat exchanger and we can save it but if not then may look at new boiler route, with the warranties you can get nowadays it is tempting for most to replace 👍
Have you/would you ever fit a refurbed heat ex? Water jacket went in my WB few years ago, took a chance on a refurbed one at 1/4 of the cost. Obviously did not expect any warranty from gas engineer. Touch wood been fine
Thanks mate, still waiting to hear from Worcester at moment if they will send new heat exchanger but yeah should see them ok for a while until it’s sorted 👍
Nice upload mate.. WB kebab hex has a 10 year warranty... A leaking hex ( water only) is AR but once not leaking POC its fine to keep it going. Hope you checked the bearing plate washer and a bit disappointed you never just checked the top baffle for excessive pitting and just flushed the bottom one ( as they can be welded to the hex due to scale build up).. Other than that...good job and look after those hands..( most important breakdown tool)👋
Thanks mate, as said in video I didn’t want to go too in-depth due to the work that needs doing, if they get a new heat exchanger I can check bearing plate, I do keep them as van stock. Hopefully Worcester will come through with a new heat exchanger and we can get it swapped) hands am getting better, been wearing gloves where I can last few days 👍
Did you change the gas supply tube always good practice to do so also if your just changing the gasket it's actually cheaper to buy the gas supply tube kit and you get the gasket with it
I had one that bad it was 12 years old and Worcester did a one off repair £328. 3 main parts and most small parts. Cant even get main heat exchanger for that give a try mate.
Great video again bulldog.....not sure what the issue is with the audio mate...i heard you fine to be fair. Good precise directions, ya couldnt ask for better. Glad the hands are healing now too.....and yeah im looking forward to breaking up for crimbo too.....MERRRRRRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU PAL, YOUR FAMILY AND ALL THE OTHER SUBSCRIBERS AND FOLLOWERS 👍👍👍
That boiler looks older than 10 years to me, old skool air vent hose on it… Often the boilers at the highest point in system, plus no low pressure cut off speeds up the hex cooking itself… might as well just leave it in there crusted up
Why didn’t Worcester put a low pressure cut off in these? I go to a few that have next to no water in cooking away! Got a feeling its over 10 years but see what Worcester say 👍
Expensive storage box that mate 😂 some days I think it’s great, got everything I need then other days it’s weighing me down and getting in way, I do like it but might need something in-between sizes for smaller jobs. Which bag you using at moment?
It’s leaking on heat exchanger around the seal. those are water marks that you can see…they can get worse than that, I’ve seen loads of gaskets go without any crud forming. I wouldn’t say it’s common but I’ve seen a few go around that too seal
Has that heat ex definitely gone mate? Looking at colour of the crud it looks more like products of combustion. I’ve always found when it’s the heat ex that’s gone on them you get a browny damp crud around the top rather than the colour on this one.
👍 yeah them really good for after care Worcester, I couldn’t date boiler for customer so sent off data badge and pictures via email, hopefully customer hears back soon and we can get it sorted for them 👍
Sorry about audio, I’m going to have to upgrade what I’m using as it’s frustrating recording then realising the audio is off but il see what I can do. Part L compliance I’ve just done a big renovation where it’s all zoned, lagged and thermostatic radiator valves I’ve got most on here but footage is few and far between to be honest in the aspect of explaining what part is being done to comply
Hello m8t audio rubbish really hard to understand what your saying ,surely heat ex is ok it’s the gasket that’s blown why didn’t you clean out and wash the heat ex while you had everything off you put the new gasket on with out even cleaning the top of the heat ex…and Worcester will only replace heat ex if boiler has had regular service and signed service records …
Heat exchanger has gone on seal around front them marks are water leaks not from the gasket, it’s only going to get worse…suppose I could have but it’s either coming out or being replaced at some point…not sure why some people saying audio poor and some saying ok but I’m recording on my phone at moment so sometimes it might suffer so apologies for that I might look at upgrading phone or using go pro

It actually caught me out before and flooded a bathroom, always tell apprentices to run the bath so why am I running the basin? Doh 😭😂😂👍

I love these videos, explaining exactly how people can strip and clean thier own boiler. Thanks it'll save me a fortune on gas engineers fees!
Do you own a flue gas analyser? You're happy to save £90 a year to put your family at risk👍
If you could actually do this from watching this video I would be very impressed to be honest! Not as simple as it looks
I am hoping you aren’t being serious……
Im not even a plumber, but can't wait for you next video. Keep them coming 👍
Thanks mate appreciated 🙌👍
Worth checking that gas valve rubber tube they always crack
Yeah know a few of them split before 👍👍

Never fitted one to be honest mate didn’t know you could get them refurbed
Just a heads up, these leak gas on the banana manifold gas sniff the little notch in the middle, I change at least one a week.
Honestly didn’t know that mate, will be checking them from now on 👍👍
Good video as always. That was a crusty boiler. Should be a lot better for them now.

Look forward to the giveaway, on another note boilers are the only object which uses a flammable gas why do people skip their service.
I don’t know to be honest, lot of people it just slips there mind, if everything’s working they won’t bother…until it breaks down 😅
I’ve got that bag, too bulky for me. Put it in the garage for storage ha

Interesting to see. But of course boys and girls, we shouldn't be messing about with boilers unless we are qualified, should we?!
Absolutely 👍
Don’t keep talking about the burn we all watched it, man up and move on your doing a great job and the burn was not your fault.

I’ve milked it with the wife mate 😂 it’s getting there nearly healed so I won’t moan on future videos I don’t think 😂👍👍

Hate these boilers, just hard to work on
They can be awkward at times depending on what part you’ve got replace, and sharp 😅
Can you do something about the audio?
I don't see anyone demonstrate how they comply with Part L, why?

I don’t mind them to be honest, plenty round by me so keep me busy with manifolds and gasket changes 😅👍
What a dismal boiler design 😂
Worcesters are hard work compared to recent baxis. Give me a baxi any day.
