Sometimes plumbing isn't black and white you have to venture into the grey zone. We will show you installing a radiator and explain WHY you shouldn't install a radiator like this but explain why we plumb it in this way.
Let us know in the comments what you think and would you have taken on this job?
In this video we will show you how to install a towel radiator, how to install pipework to a radiator, How to hang a radiator, how to install a thermostatic radiator valve, How to install a lock shield, plus how you work out the correct height to hang a radiator and most importantly why you normally DONT install a radiator like this

Thanks you all again for your continued support honestly means a lot 👊👍
As an ex gas engineer, I always had a case of self doubt because I thought that I was the only gas engineer/plumber in the uk facing issue problems etc etc. I was really hard on myself this guy has really helped me out.
Thanks mick, we all have jobs that test us and don’t go right, hoping what I put out there relates to people and shows what really can happen out there 👍
Respect to you mate, your grinding it out and showing how to literally slove plumbing problems, as you said and documenting it. Great for anyone who wants to learn and see real life scenarios. Good luck on your channel, il share your videos.
Thanks mate really appreciated 👍👍
Honesty is the best policy pal. The plumbers Union says cash please new sim required 😂
Great work pal 👍🏼
Thanks mate 👍
Amazing what a bit of confidence can achieve. Great job.
Thanks 👍
Bottom to the bracket😊
That turned out alright really, neat enough without removing tiles, and left working. And the customer had been told how it could look and work, and took the chance.👍
Yeah turned out better than expected to be honest and the heat out the radiator has been fine for them 👍
well done . i think you made the best of the situation. keep the honest good work.
Thanks mate 👍
Fantastic result!
Years ago I had to do a back to back radiator job on 8mm 😱
It did actually work!
Those plasterboard fixings are ace - been using them for years for anything vaguely heavy: rads, tvs, shelves and they’ve never let me down.
I would of been really worried if it was 8mm 😂 really don’t like microbore but very common on a lot of estates round by me, to be honest I haven’t used them much but really impressed with them 👍
Well done mate for taking that job on, others would not want the hassle, neat finish under the circumstances,
Thanks mate 👍
Best of a bad situation mate 👍. Looks so much better than expected
Thanks mate 👍
Excellent jobjob mate ,very challenging evert plumbers nightmare ❤
Thanks mate 👍
As always great content 👍👍
Thanks mate 👍
Brilliant video that pal
Thanks mate 👍👍
Great vid Luke, that rad install looked a right pain!
Cheers mate, not exactly straight forward but do like a challenge, was just glad I wasn’t too far off with the holes through the wall 😅 👍
I was expecting a flexi from the thumbnail😂 Rules are made to bent every now and then, you can only work with what youve got. Customers dont have unlimited budgets or the desire to rip their house apart to get it done exactly to the rule book. Sometimes you just have to make it work. Towel railed looked good in the end considering what you had to work with. 👌👍
No flexis on this one 👍😂 Spot on mate, can only work with what you got but turned out sound in end
Really nice job there pal 👍🏻
Thanks mate 👍
Hi mate nice job again maybe use the copper push fit fitting I get them from screw fix
Looks great
Thanks 👍
Nice job done that many times never exceed total 8000 BTUs for both radiators 1 point you did not show renewing the inhibitor well done nice and tidy outcome.
Your right I didn’t get it on camera I always seem to miss something and then I edit and realise just on auto pilot sometimes 😅 but I put it in the towel rail in main bathroom upstairs 👍
Cracking Whitney job , can’t see it from where you live 😂😂😂
😂👍
I see there was a socket on the living room side of the wall. Would it have been possible to take a spur from that to supply an electric heated towel rail so that you could use the existing 10mm drops to serve just the new radiator? Great video, it's good to see how you solve problems.
Not a bad shout that but they wanted both to be off the heating system. They did think about heated electric towel rail 👍
nice
Thanks mate 👍
I hate doing back to back rads but sometimes you have no choice. Top job, is that rapid blue any good I’ve never tried it. Thank you for vids
Once you use rapid blue you will never mess with ptf tape. Quicker ,cleaner never had leak last 4 years.
Yeah it’s decent to be fair, used it since January and been great, only use on new fitting thou, bit of dirt or moisture and it will fail, takes about 5/10 minutes to set
Hi great job and very neat 👍How long did it take? 👍
Thanks mate, about 5 hours in total
done a couple like that & every time i explained what might happen they still wanted it done so i balanced the other rads to force the heat to them all good no call back BONUS cause we don't like a call back.
Call backs never good but like you said explaining the pit falls and what could happen before always helps and prepares customer if it doesn’t work very well
Hello mate what do I mean by Individual drop and not go back to back?
So there will be manifolds for flow and returns off the boiler in 22mm, manifolds then drop to 10mm and fed to radiators on individual circuits 👍
Lucky mate
Well done 👍🏻 😂
I would of opened the wall up amendment to pipework then refitted wall and done a mirror wall behind the towel rail to hide the wall that cut out then refitted with ply wall then mirror then towel rail
If you're doing more than one install a month on tiles, use angle-grinder with diamond drill bits. Much faster, much more precise.
I'd consider installing a pump. I'd install it in the wall behind some inspection hatch.
Given the circumstances - excellent job. It's nice you show all kind of jobs not only the "model" ones.
I’ve seen them that go on angle grinder they look really good might be worth getting some, going to see how they get in with the system balanced so hopefully should be ok. And thanks mate 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk Only thing you need with those M14 core drills is a wax or crayons for smaller diameters (6, 8, 10, 12 mm). Brand-new they are filled with wax, that acts as a coolant. So in order to make them last you need to refill them with wax. I usually do it right after the use while they're still hot.
I also use 3 mm masonry drill bit to remove that tiny bit of tile that stays inside the core-bit after drilling.
Since 10 years I haven't used anything else to drill in tiles, stone or similar materials.
@@Stefan_Kawalec great advice again mate will have to look into them 👊👍
Where'd you tie ya horse up on that one mate? :P
Kidding of course, but thank god it did work! I've turned down this job a few times tbh but like you said, sometimes you've gotta do, what you've gotta do
made a neat job of a bad situation there mate, not bad at all
😂 don’t feel right but only choice for customer in this case, luckily worked out ok 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk that's it mate, I can honestly say I've never teed into 10mm but this has given me a tiny bit of confidence that it could be worth a shot in the future
I wouldn’t have filmed this ,I tell you why 1-leaving a battery drill on a shelf that could be knocked off and fall and break something 2- gripping the valve with your adjustable it could mark the chrome 3 using that awful bulky plastic, when you could have used a copper to plastic fitting .4 It’s stretching it asking the 10 mm pipe to heat such a large back to back radiator,it would have been more efficient to install a single radiator. The holes you drilled was very good.
Have you missed anything 🧐
Always someone has to make an unhelpful comment. This guy does a great job and I’m sure you have had nightmare jobs
@@jamiejackson5169 exactly been on UA-cam for 9 years hasn’t posted one video and is ready to criticise a guy doing a days job and recording it it’s real world plumbing sh@it happens
If you can't say something nice, don't bother !
@@CAR_SOLUTIONS Quality has no fear of time,I was a plumber for thirty plus years
How do you rate Rapid Blue?
Very highly, been using it nearly a year now and been great, only on new fittings thou, use Ptfe if it’s a old fitting I’m repairing
How about a plinth heater?
Could of but them a bit of a pain for maintenance and some people don’t like them, I’ve worked on them but never fitted one, quite easy to do thou
FairPlay mate as long as the customer is happy
Are you a yam yam ?
Cheers mate, I am yeah wednesbury born and bred 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk Wolverhampton myself but stumbled across your Chanel and watched most the vids now top tier stuff mate 👍🏻
@@damon9153 legend, thanks for support mate much appreciated 👊
A Whitney Houston 😂😂
😂😂👍
Nice job mate, looked mega smart, any reason why u didn’t use a chrome 10mm compression T though to make it look a little nicer?
I’m a rookie so there was obviously a reason why
Cheers 👍
Don’t like compression on plastic, seen them fail, plus chrome then copper, would still of looked off, I don’t think there was a good solution in this instance
@@bluebulldog_uk thanks for reply mate, looked mega good considering what u had to deal with
I would have put the rad 3 inches higher snd put the t just under the vslves and run the pipes through the wall hopefully behind the rad
Was thinking that but I didn’t know where studs were it was more holes, would have hidden it a bit better thou il agree
The struggle is real
You sometimes just have to work with what you’ve got mate. You made your concerns to the customer…..their decision
Very true, turned out alright in end, both rads working and happy customer
Rules are made to be broken!
Slippery aren’t they😂😂
😂😂
Id have done it with the same and warned tge customer it may not work, but them kinda jobs are just shit to do , dread doin them but its money at the end of the day
Your right it’s just one of them jobs you think, why did I agree to this 😂 but someone’s gotta do them
That micro piping should be banned
Have quite a few estates by me with it, hate the stuff
Snooze fest
