Living here in southern New England with some pretty big snapping turtles due to all the swamps located in the valleys. When I was young there was a guy who would back his car up to this pond, attach a heavy duty line with a hook and a chuck of fresh ham on it. When he knew he had a turtle on he would start the car and pull the turtle out. Was a memory for sure.
You should come to SC, their everywhere. There's a little creek behind my cabin, it used to have a ridge of dirt piled up alongside where the state cleared ditches after hurricane Hugo. I was loading this dirt on my truck and putting it in the gardens. The snapping turtles loved to lay eggs in those mounds of dirt and while I was shoveling they were hatching and baby turtles were crawling all over my truck 😅
Here in Tennessee turtle hunting used to be very common. There is no season that I am aware of but I was taught to use a jug and the turtle will go to the bank on its own
LOVE THIS! NEVER HAVE DONE THIS BUT, LOVE TO FISH WHERE THEY ARE. I HAVE A SMALL POND AND IS IT TRUE THEY NEED TO BE CLEANED OUT OR THEY WILL EAT ALL OF YOUR FISH? LOVE TO SEE YOU PREPARING THEM AND COOKING THEM TOO! GREAT VIDEO AND *SUBSCRIBED!*
Thank you for your support and feed back we will do more turtle videos in July when the season starts. We will do a butchering one, and we will have our buddy chef Alex cook some soup.
Don’t get me wrong I used to do a lot of hunting and fishing and still love catching blue gill and bass catfish etc fileting them and cooking them up but I really hate seeing these old big turtles being killed some are sooo old and deserve to be left alone to live another 50-100 years
I understand and I only do this in ponds where I'm asked to remove them. Because they damage the breast work of a dam or cause problems with cattle. This pond was a irrigation pond and they was getting stuck in the pipe to the pump. So I removed a few the farmer.

Did you say what you used for bait? I couldn't find it. Someone told me that they like live food. Thanks in advance!
I use chicken backs and blue gill freezer burnt deer meat.
Thank you!

Trying to prove to my dad we DO get snapping turtles here in PA. We got a big one living in the creek in our yard.
We have them here in Pennsylvania
Great video. Huge snapper. Damn good eating. Man I think I might have opened fire on the one that got away lol I hate that.
We catch him the next day. It's nice trapping ponds that never been trapped. More to come this year.

You have some good content here, but this video would be much better without the background music. Would like to see more turtle videos.
thank you for the constructive criticism we can do that going forward. We are hoping for some more turtle videos this summer once the season starts
you will have more and more with climate change in places that used to be to cold
Do rednecks believe in climate change even?
