@@SerpaDesign imo if the hybrids can breed and there no health issues, the species deserves to continue as much as anything else. I understand being iffy of them though, humans messing with animals like this is definitely a slippery slope
@@StiggyAzalea It sounds like this was an inadvertent breeding by Fred rather than 'messing' per se with the genetics. However intergrades of other herps occur in the wild more often than some think. To some extent this is about the purism of scientists and the mania for classification. Further and further subdivisions of morphology and minor genetic changes emphasised, rather than the understanding that biology is dynamic. One mountain range or mudbank will erode and another water source will combine with another and ' sub' species will integrate again or closely related species may meet for the first time etc. These divisions may be hundreds, thousands or millions of years old. Substantial morphological changes in fish have occured since building of dams has isolated gene pools etc. These changes in shape and morphology have occurred within decades. I think newly separated lizards ( a gecko from memory) in artificial flooding scenarios have also been documented, with notable size changes from previously contiguous populations, this having occurred within decades. The change here occurring due to selection advantages/disadvantages of inherited traits within the existing gene pool. However with genuinely rare species, like for example the giant Leachianus gecko of the multiple Island nation of New Caledonia, breeders have long been aware of the need to maintain pure lines of Island specified subspecies & to be very aware of when hybrids blur the line. Chahoua geckos have also hybridized with ( I think) crested geckos in captivity. Why labeling and stock control & ensuring subsequent purchasers are aware of any - what I personally would regard as mostly undesirable blurring - (beyond the scientific understanding that there is now proof the species CAN combine).

Your new turtle girl is beautiful! I’m glad you were able to take her in and give her a new home. I’m sorry about your previous turtle, and I’m glad your heart was able to let you bring this new turtle in need of a great home to your place.
its a snappin turla
Her setup looks awesome! And she’s so cute. Glad she had safe journey and she definitely has landed in great hands!
That set up turned out fantastic! She's unique- you're lucky to have her! She's super lucky to have you too ! ❤️
Beautiful. Stunning. Got emotional at the end. She will be happy in her new home with you.
She’s so adorable and the enclosure looks amazing as always. You really have such a talent for this.
Perfect fit in your room, tank and heart. Thanks for another great video.
She is really living the good life. I can't wait to see her progress. I think Cookie is adorable.
Made my first aquarium after about 20years today. Your channel inspired me to get back into the hobby
This is so amazingly balanced -- left to right, top to bottom. Very Yin-Yang... but then the colors! I love it so much!
I could watch an hour video of the turtle exploring the tank. With the amazing music you chose, it felt like I was on an otherworldly adventure.
Pink polka dot plant is a fantastic touch. Great color
My favorite part about setting up a new enclosure is watching the animal explore when they finally get moved in 😌
Thanks so much!
I am drawn to aqua scaping and my daughter to keeping unusual water animals.
Thanks for being yet another place we connect!
I think Vida would be a beautiful name for her. She's proof that life can thrive and grow in the least expected places since she's such a rare hybrid. Also, she is clearly full of life in every scale and scute. Beautiful tank and turtle! 💚
Tanner, What a great set up! Very appealing to the eye and your videography of the turtle exploring her habitat is just awesome! Thank you for sharing your animal room with the world!
You make it look so easy 😭
I struggle with plants in my aquarium over and over. Some of them just don't want to sit tight in their places
Respect your art and skill with all my heart~
She's beautiful and what an amazing home you're giving her. Congrats!
Little Cookie is a very charming young lady. I'm sure she is enjoying her beautiful new home, thanks to you.
Glad you got a hybrid. It was really cool learning about them on Kenan and Chandler's channels
Kenan has one as well. Hope to see some future videos on that.
Also Greg’s turtle haven. Awesome channel
all i can say is, wow!! what a special creature to take care of. youve really done her justice with a tank like that!
Fabulous set up again tanner, I cant wait till next week ;) keep up the good work
I think that turtle is very fortunate to have you as her keeper. Congratulations on the new addition.
She is precious! And a tough cookie. I really don't like snapping turtles, they're scarier than sharks. But you film and tell with so much love and repect, and the way she cautiously looked around... you would have a heart of stone not to fall in love. Thank you for learning me to open up to new animals. Really.
Its incredible how Serpa made the water line so naturally and look like an actual river bank, I could see it without the water. That's amazing skills if you ask me
The tank looks really good. It could stand on its own as art. I don't know much about tanks, new to the channel but it looks like it's a lot of room to roam and hide. I bet Cookie is thrilled to have this as her home. Going now to watch the updated animal room. 🐢
Been keeping turtles for over 20yrs and never considered aqua soil as a substrate. 🤦 Glad your part of the turtle gang again.
Such a cool turtle with having characteristics of both species!
As soon as I heard you say special snapping turtle and saw it I knew it was one of Fred’s Hybrids. He would be very happy knowing it was going to a loving home!
You can't fool me! That's totally a baby dragon turtle.
That’s amazing Fred legacy lives on forever!!!
Yes! 😎
aw man we had a pet snapping turtle growing up - those suckers are smart, and great climbers! I swear the little guy could tell my family apart from everyone else, 'cause he never bit us once but bit someone watching him while we were on vacation once. They're awesome creatures, love them SO much.
Production quality of the video is insane. Very polished finished product, both video and tank
this was so precious. if i were a baby snapping turtle id love this paludarium. she looks so at home. cookie is an adorable name and i think she'll grow into it :')
Youre tank setup looks incredible.. I wish your turtle the best of luck.
Keep it up brother
Cookie is absolutely adorable, her living space is stunningly beautiful 💚💚💚
A beautifully thought out environment, which I have no doubt she'll enjoy.
