Alex is right about the ashes! If I was watching a movie and saw a character making a fake urn with fake ashes, I would be yelling "no" at the TV! Maybe his wife knows what the urn looks like and will immediately know that it's fake. Now she has to deal with not being able to trust her husband on top of all the trauma. Alex's suggestion to just say, "oh no, sorry they got lost" isn't an outright lie and doesn't have the risk of causing bigger issues.
Agreed, I think Alex got it on this one. Make a fake one is a much worse lie than just saying I don’t know where it went.

I’m screaming option 3 while working out and people are now looking at me. Just a regular Tuesday lol
We don't have all the facts on the gambling question. However, what I understood was 1) "We" bought a house last year. Which means that each put in some equity, there is probably a mortgage too (unless it was an all cash deal) and that both names are on the title and any related mortgage. She says 2) "He" took out a loan which he said was for home improvements. I take it that there was enough equity in the house to take out a home improvement loan or line of credit of 80K. If her name was on the title/mortgage she would have to have signed on this home improvement loan as well. 3) The money basically vanished into gambling with no winnings. Gone into thin air. 4) If he got her to sign those loan papers saying they were going to redo the bathrooms, kitchen and add a deck (80K would do a lot!) and now the money is gone, then he committed financial fraud, betrayal, financial abuse. Worse than having an affair, this is so, so, so seriously bad. He basically financially ruined them and is laughing about it. Let's hope she was smart enough to keep her finances separate and her name is not on any of the debt and she should then run for her life.

Not to mention she’s only 23 and he’s 26. Not knowing their financial situation but that’s pretty steep for someone that young, on top of mortgage, cars etc

I just listened to this episode. I definitely agree with Alex. I think the wife is in the wrong. If she knew everything in the basement was going to get thrown out, why would she put them down there? She also didn't tell her husband they were put there. Then years later, she asks him where they are? Wouldn't it be obvious to her? I think the husband should tell her the truth. She didn't tell him she put them down there, so they were thrown out.

About the in-laws urn missing issue - I have another theory, what if the wife actually knows it was her mistake she left the ashes in the basement and didnt get it out before everything was gutted and is trying to pin it on the husband because the mom asked about it. Also if the dad was an abuser, the daughter might not be too attached with ashes anyways. Advice to husband, tell her the truth and call her out on her bullshit 😂😂😂
