Thank you so much for this conversation with Martha Beck! I usually don't listen to/view your podcast when I'm low on energy, because I really want to get all the info, but today I did. I listened to all of it in one go and while listening and now I feel energized and at peace. I've listened to so many hours of your content and interviews, but this conversation was really special.
I feel strangely touched by it (goosebumps!) , which is not normal for my science oriented mind. Thank you both for being so open and vulnerable. I hope you both live long and prosper in all of your endeavors

Andrew, if you're seeing this, I want to thank you for this particular episode. I've been a regular consumer of your podcast for long and when that ugliness online happened I was outraged and quite disgusted at how people were treating you. The fact that you continue to bring yourself with equal or more love, MORE vulnerability, MORE Openness and display an entirely unconditional dedication to no-cost education for people like me...... this makes you one of my personal heroes. I've always marveled at your knowledge and your teaching method and to learn that you're a top person too just makes it all so much more meaningful for me. Big thanks always. Taking notes always.

I've never heard of Dr Beck before playing this video, and I will never forget her name henceforth. What an amazing woman! I can relate with almost every angle she came from, and almost every turn the this conversation took correlated with my experience in my own life and growth and healing. Amazing amazing amazing. That was, without a doubt, the most authentic, powerful, and resonant conversation I have had the privilege of listening to in as long as I can remember. Thank you, Dr. Huberman, for not only beautifully facilitating that conversation, but also making it so much richer by sharing your own experiences, challenges, and growth. And thank you to Dr. Beck for being such a beacon of light, hope, and authenticity. I can't thank you both enough for this conversation and the clarity it has brought to my life already. I've been looking for an epiphany or breakthrough during what has been a bit of a challenging stretch, and I believe you both just provided it. Thank you both for everything you do.

Only 15min in, and I already have to say that Dr's guidance thru the perfect day exercise is incredibly helpful....she clarified some elements I didn't even realize I'd understood inaccurately.... it's not the "perfect, ideal day", it's "an ordinary day in your perfect life"....HUGE difference with this adjustment alone, both in the visualization and the story formatting.....so helpful to hear her coaching in real time 👍👍

I’ve experienced deep suffering and sadness, and thought about death many times, and then, among the many miracles of life, which we find all along, around every corner, outside and within, I find you both and all I can express is my deep gratitude for being you, thank you!!! I love you. ✨💛

I was particularly touched by how Dr. Huberman is able to embrace his vulnerability and talk openly-though without unnecessary scandal-about his own journeys and the things he wants to improve in his life. It’s an excellent example for us all: you can be intelligent, brilliant, and successful, yet still be humble and openly acknowledge that you haven’t mastered all aspects of your life. His approach to continuously pursuing personal growth is truly inspiring.
Regarding topics I’d like Dr. Huberman to cover in his podcast, I would love to see an episode (or even a series of episodes) related to pets, especially dogs. Why do we love them so much? What happens in our brains when we see or think about our dogs? What were the co-evolutionary mechanisms that produced this special relationship between dogs and humans? What are the scientifically proven benefits of owning dogs? Are there any drawbacks?

Dr. Huberman, at risk of coming off like a fan-girl (woman, actually) I want to tell you how much I appreciate you. I just got back from my morning walk during which I finished listening to this episode with Martha Beck, whom I also follow and deeply appreciate. I first heard you when my oldest friend ("since we were born!" we say) recommended your podcast to me a couple of years ago. The first episode I heard was the one on nicotine and since then I have been hooked . On nicotine. (Kidding.) I texted my since-born friend telling her that I thought I was in love. The brains get me. I am wildly impressed by your rigor, commitment, enthusiasm, and curiosity. What inspired me to "leave a comment" (and I don't recall doing this before, in any case) was the additional humanity and vulnerability you showed on this one. And I could relate to a lot of what you said about relationships - and a few other things, too. I started to feel a pull toward reaching out to say something, but you clinched it with the pigeons. I love them too, and most people find this quirky (But I don't care!)! I lived in NYC for a while, and spent a lot of time observing them (and writing haiku about them, as it were.) Keep doing what you're doing, and whomever you end up finding, breathing softly next to you in your future mountain home (even if it's just another bulldog) will be a lucky lady (or dog), no doubt. With gratitude, Sarah

One of the most important lessons I've learned in my life, and what Martha reinforces in this podcast, is that we have zero control over someone else's emotions or emotional reactions. As I have slowly let myself open up and express my own needs I find that those around me might be disappointed or upset, but if real love is there they will eventually come to terms with their own feelings and see me in a new light. It does change the relationship, but in my experience it's for the better. Thank you for this episode!

So refreshing to hear this conversation on Huberman Lab Podcast with Dr. Martha Beck. The idea of listening to and trusting one’s body, embracing suffering, and aligning with personal truth through feeling-rather than external expectations-has always resonated deeply with me. Yet, when I’ve shared the importance of these values, they’ve often been challenged, leaving me questioning, even resisting, and at times feeling wrong for choosing this path.
Each time I ignored my own inner guidance, the consequence was profound: pain that manifested physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Despite seeking help, no doctor or therapist could pinpoint a solution beyond identifying my nervous system as stuck in freeze.
But through presence, self-compassion, and the courage to trust myself, I’m finally beginning to orient and heal. Along the way, I’ve noticed friends and others feel encouraged to explore these values themselves. It’s been beautiful to witness this shift-to see how, when we live in alignment with our own truth, it can create a ripple effect that gently inspires others.
May this be a reminder that you are your own most powerful guide, and that true healing often begins with honoring the wisdom within.

    • @icedawggg
      @icedawggg Місяць тому

Exactly! Your truth is the truth. Your mental reality needs to not be shiftable by physical reality. People love to do that, let the world around them change them. In reality you should let the world inside you change the world outside. Made me realize you can’t live in your desired reality externally until you live it internally.

Thank you for opening the door to a world where its not "evil" (as my catholic upbringing has made me believe) to live in my integrity. I found Dr. Martha Beck incredibly fascinating, I don't know that I would have heard as much as I have or rather, taken in as much if it wasn't for Andrew Huberman being such the perfect interviewer for her. The energy is palpable, felt so clearly and I'm basking in it. I am happy that you experienced something the same in this nature. Im excited to know someone else has experienced this because it’s hard to explain . Heartfelt and deepening within ; energy never dies and the love of your dog will always be felt .

Andrew, this, hands down, has been the most beautiful and transformational podcast I have watched/listned to ever. And I consume probably 4 a week, every week, for at least 10 years. I will admit that I had some recoil to a handful of things that Martha said and yet her explanation of the compassionate witness and having and attuning to integrity in the body, I was able to uncover deep information about my values and beliefs and now have a stepping stone to learning more about myself. Your candid honesty, her authenticity, and your palpable connection with each other were, by themselves, informative and healing. I am quite fond of her and will look much deeper into her work. Might I suggest looking into Dr. Joe Dispenza's and collegues research on the magnetic and electrical nature of heart-brain coherence. His work talks a TON about the light, the "home" and the integrity that Martha speaks about. He also teaches breathing techniques, whicb obviously you know a TON about.
Bless you Andrew. Truly, you are a lighthouse for many people.

Thanks Martha and Andrew for making me feel like it is okay to listen to your true self, your authentic self and being in alignment with your authentic self sets you free. That when I feel this isn’t right for me, I have to honor it. I must honor it to truly experience life and my best self for others. Like lifting the veil…. I agree with her, that we truly don’t know what the afterlife will be. No religion can answer that and that is okay to admit. This conversation really shed light on our purpose on the planet in so many ways and how to know you are on the right path. The idea of meeting feelings of suffering with self compassion that will allow you to show love and compassion for others is something I will work towards and this conversation gave me the blueprint. I will definitely read more from Dr. Beck! Thanks for the introduction, Andrew and for your radical openness Dr. Beck!

It’s so refreshing and inspiring to see this type of discussion here. Both of you so staunch in your efforts to be true to your experience and reconcile science and our cultural attitudes with the more spiritual and mysterious aspects of existence. It’s reassuring for those of us who have in our lives few or none who are willing to open their heart and mind to experience the world in this way.
Thank you also Andrew for being so honest and vulnerable. Sharing parts of yourself with the world so openly takes courage and it empowers others especially men to see how these traits are not opposed to masculinity.

Thank you Andrew and Martha! I resonate with this conversation immensely. I experienced a TBI with 6 skull fractures and 2 brain bleeds from an assault last summer, where I saw the light mentioned. I was unconscious for 3 days. During that time I visited a realm my soul knew but I did not, where I met God Osiris who offered me an invaluable necklace I did not take. Since then I have experienced heightened intuition, immense gratitude mindset shift, and can see energies, and more. I have gotten to meet several of my spiritual guides and seen them as blue silhouettes. The change in me has caused my marriage to fall apart, and that’s okay. New beginnings! I also resonate with the “feels like a game and this is just my avatar” I feel it daily now. When Martha said “you are here to find your team and tell them they are here as healers” my whole body got goosebumps, and felt as if someone placed a hand on my left cheek at the moment she said that. I am on your team!

The best way to describe my mind since my injury is like my higher self is guiding me, and sending me downloads from the universe that light the path I now walk upon. A few months ago I was “told” I am an energy healer meant to heal others and teach them how to do the same for themselves and others. This conversation only amplified that message. Thank you both so much! I am grateful!
