  • Опубліковано 27 тра 2024
  • In this episode, my guest is Dr. James Hollis, Ph.D., a Jungian psychoanalyst, renowned educator and author on finding and pursuing one’s unique purpose. Dr. Hollis is also an expert in the psychology of relationships and healing from trauma. We discuss how early family dynamics and social context create patterns of both adaptive and maladaptive behavior and internal narratives that, when examined, lead to better choices and a deeply fulfilling existence.
We discuss discovering your unique self-identity and purpose through specific practices of reflection, meditation and conversations with others. We also discuss self-perception and the evolution of roles within marriages, parent-child relationships, and work.
Throughout the episode, Dr. Hollis provides both basic knowledge and practical tools to help us assess ourselves and better understand who we are and what we really want in careers, relationships of all kinds, and society.

Hi Andrew - this was a great synthesis of the human spirit and mind. I really appreciate your work and the interview; Dr. James summarizes in an objective way the journey of the human soul, it is a great explanation of the soul through the current 2024 lenses of science and society.
The practice of the Orthodox Christian religion, the oldest Christian religion, fills in the gaps and missing questions. Both of you are illuminated, but there is a higher step, when you seek the divinity and divinity illuminates you and you get the certainty of life after death and a lot more.
Thank you for your great work and I hope God will iluminate you with his wisdom.

    1. What are the stories we are living?
    2. We live reacting to everything that happens to us. Do we have other options?
    3. I'm accountable for what I have lived so far.

    13. Taking responsibility for my shadow and stop blaming others.

The truth was given so much life by Dr Hollis' calmness and experience. That's wonderful, isn't it? An old man that has much more curiosity than a younger one. I got hit by psychosis and depression at the beginning of my twenties. It took me some time to heal and align to the purpose of my soul. I had to let go of ego's expectations and find my natural flow. Still work to do but existential suffering is now taken care of and I don't question anymore all the meaning when something challenging happens. Summarizing my experience i would say that i had to let go of my mind and use a deeper wisdom based on trust and listening. I suggest that everybody cultivates this side of them in order to be more flexible and ready in the face of lifes hard and unexpected challenges, this offers a healthy coping mechanism and adaptation strategy, that you can apply to anything in life... so it is worth trying. I hope i will start sharing more in the future as i mature this vision .. bye from italy

People with complex PTSD, especially severe chronic childhood trauma, can have a lot of those clusters because of repeated severe dissociation.
MD Dr. Richard Schwarz speaks about this in IFS, Internal Family System, and teach how to integrate those clusters. So important to do this inner work for everyone. The less we are in autopilot, the more we are able to do the right things in life, for a better personal life, better communities, healthier families and a healthier planet.

I must admit, I initially underestimated him based solely on his age; I expected to encounter someone with diminished faculties. However, I was completely taken aback by the profound depth and clarity of his thoughts. His words were so rich and insightful that I frequently found myself pausing to fully absorb everything he said. It was a truly powerful presentation, and I anticipate it will take me quite some time to fully digest the profound ideas he shared. What an extraordinary individual! His eloquence and wisdom leave me wondering: what steps can I take to ensure I remain as coherent, wise, and sharp as he is at his age? Truly brilliant!
