The power supply arrives. 30 Volts and 10 Amps.

So, I had 2 symptoms of an underpowered track. a dead spot, where even stock motor and stock magnet cars stop, and the inability to run high rpm strong magnet cars even at the power base. Also you can see the red power light on the power base dim when you squeeze the trigger on the speed controller.
The answer, an aftermarket power supply. Regulated, to provide clean even power to the track. This should ensure the stock scalextric cars make it around the whole track, and that i should be able to run the high-performance cars.

You may need to add power taps to different parts of the tracks, to avoid large voltage drops on track that is further away from the power supply.

With the aftermarket psu. So far so good. The dead spots are gone. Only issues now are physical track joining, specifically on the hairpin.
