"The flames writhed before her like the women who had danced at her wedding, whirling and singing and spinning their yellow and orange and crimson veils, fearsome to behold, yet lovely, so lovely, alive with heat. Dany opened her arms to them, her skin flushed and glowing. This is a wedding, too, she thought." Bride of Fire 💯

Dany has always been Azor Ahai. It just didn't make sense for it to be anyone else. Great to hear you both, and hope you're both doing well. It's always great to see a video from this channel ❤
I've always thought that Dany was Azor Ahai. She's the only character that fits all the criteria. I'm still really mad about how Dumb and Dumber ruined her character arc on the show. At least we still have the last two books to look forward to, although there's no telling when we will get them.
@swave158 Every culture has their own Azor Ahai myth. Daenerys does fit the criteria. Daenerys also has Dayne heritage in her blood. As for the COTF part well that fits Bran more than Jon. And just because Azor Ahai in the past worked with COTF doesn't mean that the new one will. Especially since they're a dying race.
@swave158 Like I said each culture has their own prophesied hero myth aka Azor Ahai/The Prince that was promised/Hyrkoon the Hero. It is probably the same person in all of these myths and the details were just modified to suit the culture. Like I said and like it was discussed in the video Daenerys does fit the criteria for Azor Ahai/The Prince that was Promised. Far more than Jon. You can root for him all you want, but he still doesn't fit. Jon will have a role to play, of course, and I can see their being many saviors/heroes. Though from your comments it doesn't seem like you dislike tropes - you just don't want Daenerys to be the one. And that's fine. Also** Melisandre is not known for her accurate fire readings. So take what she says with a grain of salt.
@swave158 Wow. You are clearly way too dense and too much of a Jon fan boy to understand the theories and how they work. None of your "arguments" prove anything - "Jon's a Dayne so it's obviously him lollolololol I'm right! I dont like tropes unless it's the character I'm rooting for lolololol". Go step on a tack and move along.
If you guys really want to know before TWoW, Danny is set up to be the new nissa nissa, aka lightbringer(dragon), aka the mother of dragons. After all the dragons die during the long night, either Marywn or Melisandre or Sam or Bran is going to tell Danny how to become a dragon. She is going to do so willingly in order to stop the long night. Jon and Aegon are going to be the ones to insert dragonglass daggers in her back during the ritual (3 heads of the dragon) . In the epilogue, she will literally have become the mother of dragons to a new generation.
It’s heartbreaking to hear that they split, though I’m glad it was amicable. This is my favorite UA-cam channel and has been for years! I’ll miss Dave’s input but have all the faith in our girl. 😭
Yeah! You tell them Green Hand! If Jon Snow had walked into a fire and come out alive, unburnt, with dragons that were stone minutes before, NO ONE would doubt that he was the prince that was promised!
I don't believe Jon is Azor Ahai and never did, Dany is Azor Ahai. You can't just write a prophecy out and have a character completely fulfill the requirements in a way that Jon doesn't, eg, raise dragons from stone) and have no explanation for that. That's bad writing and GRR is not a bad writer. Either Dany is AA or he better have some kind of amazing explanation for why she fits the prophecy to perfection but isn't AA. Having it just be coincidence that she fits something so specific and instead someone else being AA isn't enough, that's poor writing not some amazing bait and switch.
Maester Aemon makes it pretty clear that Daenerys is Azor Ahai (Hebrew for Helper of Life), not Jon, and not Stannis. I'm not sure that the Prince who was Promised is the same as the Azor Ahai, though.
I was just wondering when the next video would drop. Wishing you the best Mary Ellen! I appreciate that are you making uploads regularly. I know you do a lot of research on each topic so I appreciate the speed in which you post new content. It is always worth the wait. Hope your mom is doing well!
That's why antis hate Dany so much. She is definitely the central character of this story, but I don't think she will be the hero alone, Jon is the next Sword the Morning and he will be with her in the Long Night.
That's good but that cunt better not betray her like he did on the show after she did so much for him and his family and look what she got for it, losing 2 dragons, Jorah and Missandei and faith in her advisors all gone all because of his dumb ass.

In the opening bit with the emoji versions of you two, Dave's looks just like the comedian Neal Brennan. Also, as a off chance theory, I like Jaime as AA. He may also be Lightbringer himself. His character arc is his forging. He forged himself in the bath at Harrenhall changing his identity from kingslayer to Jaime, he forged himself when he freed Tyrion and it spilled lions blood with Tywin, and most people expect him to kill a woman he loves, in Cersei. All things pushing him in a Heros journey. Water, lions blood, his loved ones blood. My preferred theory is that not Tyrion, but the twins are Aerys kids. And when Jaime learns who he is and that he killed his own father that he will be waking dragons from stone, he and Cersei, possibly amidst salt and smoke. Maybe in some wildfyre going off in Kingslanding? And he actually has a prophetic dream where he is holding a magic glowing sword as pale white misty figures approach. First time around, I thought it was Jon Snow. Thinking about it more since I *listened* to my 2nd reading rather than physically reading it, I thought it was obviously Dany. I also thought the weapon Lightbringer could just metaphorically be the dragons. I really want Dawn to be Lightbringer, because that would be cool and having the name change and lose meaning over time would be such a nice realistic nod, but I'm willing to accept that the prophecy is overly dramatic.
I accept no ruler but the queen from the East, with the blood of Old Valyria and whose name is Targaryen.... Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen. All hail Mhysa!
Dany = Azor Ahai (Azor Ahai was also known with different names across the world, just like Dany) Bran/Jon= The last Hero: Legends of the north state the last hero and his companions went in search of the children of the forest during the Long Night, thousands of years ago. The minute you mentioned the red comet as a dragons tail was when it hit me, what if the dragons are the swords of fire? Mind blown! 😲 Damn you cryptic prophesies!
Finally, a video that's not a live Q&A. You've done too many of those in a row. I can't sit through those... too long, too disorganized, too many dumb questions.
Well I always thought it made sense that there was no Azor Ahai. Just like there are many *rightful kings* and interpretations of what the commet Means. People twist the prophesy some things are literal and other things are metaphorical to make things fit certain Characters. Like if it's true that Dragon Fire doesn't work on the Others then she'd be as useful as wild fire again whites. I thought it was obvious that Quaith was the one giving her the information via Glass Candle.
If you need an explanation of the whole "situation" watch from minute 28 till the end of the Football live stream and the first few minutes of the last Q&A (drawing of Lady Greenhand in the thumbnail)
Dany has always been Azor Ahai she meets all the criteria. Jenny of Oldstones, prophesied to the crown prince Jaehaerys that the prince who was promised would be born from his line. Became king, Jaehaerys II ordered his own son Aerys to marry his daughter Rhaella to fulfill the prophecy. Born in a place of smoke and salt: Born in Dragonstone (salt) she is reborn during her burning (smoke) Done A bloody star crossed the sky to announce his coming: Done Awakening of Dragons from Stone: Made by giving birth to his three dragons Drogon is Lightbringer: After that she has already made several attempts on Brazier before to try to hatch them, and that she finally succeeds when she sacrifices her nissa nissa Drogo and Mirri Good video as always :) Glad to listen to you both Good Kiss of France: D
Your video was to the point, in the fandom, everyone can see that Stannis is not Azor ahai, and the arguments that fandom uses to say that Jon is Azor Ahai are based on tremendous mental gymnastics, leaps of logic and an effort to do it to have it all, not to mention the misinterpreted passages that fit the most with Jon being the Sword of the Morning. And it would be beautiful if Georg Knowing that fantasy is full of male protagonists being the saviors of the world, it would be interesting if the savior were a woman who was abandoned and treated like garbage by everyone, and by the current fandom, which summarizes her in a path of madness or tyranny. This video is not a theory, it is a fact in history that few or almost no one in fandom believes and desperately tries to hide

I think AA is a villain, a Bloodstone Emperor like character. I have to admit, it was a lovely surprise to hear Dave's voice, I hope he visits the channel sometimes, if he feels like it,
I don’t know if there will be a light bringer. Why would they need one when dragon glass and fire kill the others easily. I do like the idea that light bringer is the dragons. I just pictured it as a literal sword like in the tales
please do not stop co working . love your work as a team. i won`t stop watching if you don`t but it would be cool if you make it happen. love from berlin
Who is the Prince that was promised? Obviously it was Daario or Tyrion... hahahaha, just joking Edit: If Dani is Azor Ahai, does that make Jon Nissa Nissa reborn?
Okay maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but does anyone talk about how this is phrased: the prince THAT was promised, and not WHO was promised? Seems like an interesting grammar choice on GRRM's part
i think that azor ahai and bloodstone emperor are the same thing. Fire and Blood. I think Dany will summon the long night and become the new bloodstone empress, and the starks will have to use ice magic, becoming Others in order to stop her. The red comet is the blood stone and it does herald her coming. It may even crash into westeros, causing the long night
The dragons themselves are multiple times refered, by several characters, as a fire sword. Also, Daenerys first birth at Dragonstone fits the "salt and smoke": there is a volcano there, a "smoking mountain", and the nigth she was born there was the storm, with great waves bashing the island.
No way, it's badass Arya! She is EVERYTHING and can do ANYTHING!! BADASS! And that jump attack on that bad snowman fella' in the show that the books were based on....BADASS!
Yes Dany does specifically meet the requirements of the prophecy, but does that make her the savior? not quite. Lets not forget the context of prophecy and that some view the r'hllor religion as evil occult like taboo witchcraft. Some even think of Azor as a villain. Grrm himself believes in peace and harmony over warfare. the theme is more about reaching a balanced agreement between ice n fire.
I love this video. I always thought Azor Ahai and The Prince that was Promised were two different people. What about Jon Snow and his Family Sword, Dawn being Azor Ahai and Lightbringer, so Jon Snow as Azor Ahai and Dawn bring Lightbringer? We miss Dave. One thought on this question: Will Margaery help Jon in war against Targaryens?
I agree. If you read Dying of the Light, you can see that the Prince who was Promised is the Dawn. Maybe that has something to do with House Dayne's words. Dying of the Light also spells out the ingredients required for the Prince who was Promised and it requires Storm Kings blood in addition to volcanoes, the sun, ice and fire. My money is on Shireen Baratheon and that the prophecy has a sinister meaning.
3 heads of the dragon is all I think about. Jon and Dany are almost definitely fitting the Azor Ahai prophecy but who else? There has to be a third head?
What if Daenarys Targaryen was born of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, and Lady Lyanna Stark and she had gave birth to three babies. Daenerys and two brothers. They are the Prince who was promise.
Jon Snow was the son of Lord Eddard Stark and his first wife Lady Ashara Dayne. Jon Snow is Jon Stark and his sword is that of House Dayne. Jon Snow is the "Sword of Morning" his ancestor was Azor Ahai the sword is Dawn (or Light bringer). Jon Snow is the new Azor Ahai.
You see it was his ancestor that plunged that sword into Nesa, Nesa heart. That why "Dawn" always choices her new champion. Part of her soul is in the sword "Dawn".
I would say at this point the novel Winds of Winter is the prince that was promised
Mayhaps. I always think of TWoW as a prophecy... GRRM is like a treacherous woman. TWoW is the equivalent to Mark Twain's A Medieval Romance, except the author does not admit that he is unable to finish the tale.

The minute you mentioned the red comet as a dragons tail was when it hit me, what if the dragons are the swords of fire? Mind blown! 😲 Damn you cryptic prophesies!
You two split. Dang my condolences. Hope you two are both thriving
yep!! trying to!
Good topic.
Finally, a video that's not a live Q&A. You've done too many of those in a row. I can't sit through those... too long, too disorganized, too many dumb questions.
Bloody Blade was badass
Green Hand !!!
Born in a place of smoke and salt: Born in Dragonstone (salt) she is reborn during her burning (smoke) Done
A bloody star crossed the sky to announce his coming: Done
Awakening of Dragons from Stone: Made by giving birth to his three dragons
Drogon is Lightbringer: After that she has already made several attempts on Brazier before to try to hatch them, and that she finally succeeds when she sacrifices her nissa nissa Drogo and Mirri
Good video as always :) Glad to listen to you both
Good Kiss of France: D
OOTGH !!!
Born amidst smoke and salt? Is he a ham?
Always a welcome sight to see a new OOTGH video. Let’s do this.
your theories are too good to be false
Lady Green Hand, please tell Dave the viewers send their regards!
Promise me Ned...er.. Milady. When enough time has passed to heal wounds, you two will reunite and finally solve the glass gardens creeper who gives bran the blackberrys. I wish to know the answer to this more than anything in the world. Promise me.....
Thank you for the video despite your personal issues. This is the first I’m hearing of it. I wish you both well, and will follow you both on any other projects you may do.
As for the video, I hope the Prince or Princess isn’t someone as obvious as Danny or Jon.
Happy Holidays to all!
The two of you delivering this video is an unexpected gift!
A welcome one, at that.
I had to triple check the date on this video when I heard Dave’s iconic voice. I love you guys and I love what you brought to the a song of ice and fire fandom. Thanks
Did that too... I thought this was released in retrospect
I like the videos before i watch them cuz I know Ill like them. Youre amazing, keep up the good work!
Great video thank guys. I hope Dave comes back when winds is out for all those new theories!
I'm rewatching like all your videos while showing them for the first time to my bf who brought me to ASOIAF through the GOT show, this was us both finding out about your split. Much respect for the cooperation, thank you two Maryellen and Dave!
I swear I've seen that Azor Ahai pic at 1:17 somewhere lol. Keep up the great work.
So I will watch this tomorrow, I wanna savor it.
My exact stream of consciousness when seeing the new video posted: Ooh new OOTGH video! Aww but I'm still so sad. I feel like I got dumped. But Mary Ellen's got this and she's gonna crush it! ...HOLY SHIT I HEAR DAVE!!!!
Oh yay! I was concerned that we wouldn't be getting any more of these videos with the split! Also, you know, since it's an amicable split, no reason why you guys can't both continue doing videos together...just saying :)
Then who is Jon snow if not the one who will lead humanity against the dead
The sword of the morning
I think AA is a villain, a Bloodstone Emperor like character.
I have to admit, it was a lovely surprise to hear Dave's voice, I hope he visits the channel sometimes, if he feels like it,
I don’t know if there will be a light bringer. Why would they need one when dragon glass and fire kill the others easily. I do like the idea that light bringer is the dragons. I just pictured it as a literal sword like in the tales
Danny sacrificed what she loved most, her son, husband, and the witch. Three deaths for three lives (dragons). Only death can pay for life.
Eyy! Can’t wait to finish it 🙌🏻
I thought u guys believed aegon /young griff is the prince that was promised
Are azor ahai and the prince that was promised the same?
@@TheOrderoftheGreenhand idk I thought it was the same thing just different names
So who the fuck is Jon Snow supposed to be?
The sword of the morning
please do not stop co working . love your work as a team. i won`t stop watching if you don`t but it would be cool if you make it happen. love from berlin
Anybody else out there hoping mon m dad get back together
I am.
There some real reaching going on here lol!!!
Who is the Prince that was promised? Obviously it was Daario or Tyrion... hahahaha, just joking
Edit: If Dani is Azor Ahai, does that make Jon Nissa Nissa reborn?
Okay maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but does anyone talk about how this is phrased: the prince THAT was promised, and not WHO was promised? Seems like an interesting grammar choice on GRRM's part
Guys NOOOOOOOO... Season 8 was bad, please don't let it tear you guys apart. 😢
i think that azor ahai and bloodstone emperor are the same thing.
There is 3 saviours the dragon has 3 heads is central to the prophecy. Dany, Jon, and Young griff?
No way, it's badass Arya! She is EVERYTHING and can do ANYTHING!! BADASS! And that jump attack on that bad snowman fella' in the show that the books were based on....BADASS!
I hope you are joking.
@@seankumar2154 He most certainly is. Bless D and D.
Dany is the one who most obviously fulfills the prophecy...ergo, it's not going to be here. Remember what series we're reading here, people.
My money is on Shireen Baratheon and that the prophecy has a sinister meaning.
the pact of ice and fire! the prince that was promised comes from jacaerys velaryon and sara snow bloodlineeeee
3 heads of the dragon is all I think about. Jon and Dany are almost definitely fitting the Azor Ahai prophecy but who else? There has to be a third head?
But your assuming that the "Prince who was promise" is the one and same as "Azor Ahai".
I believe the sword dawn will have to be put into Dany's heart to create lightbringer
Obviously ser pounce. Just look at Alt Shift X's video on it.
Sorry did you say the two of you had split up! That’s a shame-you were such a nice couple
Btw Dany killed Drogo like Azor Ahai killed Nisa Nisa
Thank you for the upload Lady Greenhand.
My Money is on Danny. Great video...love you both
Sweet!!!!
