    I've shipped hundreds of records. My method is similar. I take the record and inner sleeve out of the out sleeve. I then put the record in a plastic record sleeve (not an inner sleeve, this is a round corner plastic sleeve that I use to keep the record from contacting anything else in shipment). I then put make a sandwich, outer sleeve + bubble wrap + record (in rounded sleeve) + inner sleeve. All of that goes in a outer plastic sleeve. Bubble wrap on top, bubble wrap on bottom, and then 4 pieces of bubble wrap (6x6) to connect the whole thing together in a nice tight package. Not a complaint yet at all and I get good feedback on packing

    I used to get frustrated when I first started buying records online because nearly all of them would arrive with split seams. Nowadays I ask all sellers to ship my records outside the jacket in a generic sleeve and keep the original inner sleeve inside the jacket empty (including brand new, sealed records). 95% of them agree to do it, and 100% of all those records have arrived in pristine condition.

      I've used the white mailers shown in the video to box up 5-10 records, you can 'score' the cardboard to make it bend in a different place from where it was pre-scored, then put those white boxes inside of a larger Amazon shipping box you already have. You can cut and 'score' the Amazon box to make it fit the boxes you're mailing so it doesn't have a bunch of extra room that may need more filler. You can search for 'scoring' boxes on yt to see different ways it's done. I just use scissors to cut a break into the cardboard where I want it to bend. I've used USPS insured media mail for virtually all shipping I've done.

    Medium or Large pizza boxes are 12x12 and 14x14. I'm not a collector and mailed only 2-3 records in pizza boxes and seems no complains. Just went to my favorite local pizza joint and asked for a few new pizza boxes. They have no problem with that. Just wondering if you tried and what's your opinion. Thanks.

    I personally think record sleeves should have reinforced inner edges to prevent seam splits. Like a small edge of foam on the insides at the creases. Yes I know that won't happen, it would increase the price of production. I just think it would be dope if they had that.

    Amazon and many Discogs vendors just don't learn. Amazon sent me an LP with a simple bag. A Bag! Suffice to say it arrived bent on a whole corner.
    A French shop from discogs' lp arrived so beaten in a flimsy cardboard envelope, and it was warped. Even packaged the warp was noticeable.
    Some of these boxes are too flimsy, not suitable for overseas or continental country to country shipping.
    They almost always arrive with seams splits in the inner sleeves, specially with new and sealed records. 😔

      Marzy1492 I agree with this 100%. I asked a seller to ship me the white vinyl of Interpol’s El Pintor (very expensive) outside the jacket. And while the jacket came flawless, the record split completely through the inner sleeve.

      I hate this so much. I'm one of the few people left who actually prefer to keep records in the original printed inner sleeves they came in, I don't bother with over priced pointless plastic sleeves. It's very annoying when they arrive with 10 cm tears on all sides.

    • @artiegross566

    • @whittierlibrarybookstore3708
      @whittierlibrarybookstore3708 Рік тому

      @@artiegross566 For clarity this is what we do: carefully remove the vinyl from the jacket, leaving the original inner sleeve within the jacket. Any record under $20 get a new generic sleeve, any record over $20 gets a rice-paper (MoFi type) inner-sleeve. Then we sandwich the vinyl and jacket between 2 pieces of cardboard before placing in a mailer specifically designed for vinyl records. Because we toss out a lot of poor quality vinyl that we get I save the jackets and use that instead of the cardboard I mentioned previously.

      You're ultimately going to be held liable for any shipping damage so I'd ask the buyer if they want you to remove the record and leave the shrink wrap on the cover. If they say no, then you can politely tell them that you can't be responsible for any seam splits. While that may technically still be your responsibility in the eyes of Paypal, it may at least lower the chances of them trying to pull a fast one on you.

    Only if it’s 20usd or less will I consider media mail. Collectors albums, 180g,200g or first pressings etc. rare Japanese with obi strips etc. all ship ems for me. And priority Usps If in USA. Always sandwich with cardboard larger than the record itself! And first. One going horizontal grain and the other going vertical grain. Then bubble wrap of room! But never bubble wrap first and sandwich after!!! Bad idea. Sad and common mistakes allowing internal flex to the record and fold marks. Bubble wrap always on outside of the sandwich!
    God forbid using uline mailers like you show in this video. Horrific corner damage almost always! At least where I live 50% Guarantee it will have multiple corners damaged, and about 75% damage to at least one corner.
    Whiplash mailers, CLP or Pratt are good options. But if you MUSt use those crap uline... double box it. Or add additional corner pieces taped on securely to improve corner integrity. But seriously... get a better mailer.

    I hope everybody on earth watches this video. Probably 50% of the albums I order have corner dings and creases.
