If you hear orders being relayed in French, a thick Irish accent swearing about God-knows-what, and a trench whistle... You're mixed-in with the Sixth Louisiana and the First Texas. Awesome video, Cody.
I play this game in a VR headset on a large 3D virtual screen, it's pretty neat! It's still mouse/keyboard controls and the resolution is a bit blurry, but the soldiers and trees look life-size. Haha I even have to close one eye to aim because of the 3D ironsight.
Marlin 45/70 8th Ohio? That's great, there use to be alot of people in our unit, but they split off into Thier own unit of some disagreements, so now they're the 49th Ohio. They're always with us though. I have Ancestors in the 133rd Ohio.
I so hope people play into the way these battles were faught and still with their squads...insteas of your typical shooters where people want to run off in their own...this is sick and has salivating as to the action that will unfold...great group of people that are playing here...👏👏👏
Hate to disappoint you but people won’t be playing the game how the war was actually fought, now if you were to play scheduled events with a clan versus a clan that takes the RP and strategy seriously you won’t be disappointed. But people have been playing COD for so long they forgot what it’s like to work as a team
I love how they got the map accurately, im not far from Anteitam battlefield and I like the historic with the time when that area was a massive tide shift in the war.
It's cool to see those big groups firing volleys, but the use of small groups of sharpshooters and dividing your force to draw fire is just good strategy. If you cant counter effective strategy and are to rigid to adapt you don't deserve to win.
@@GeneralCodyHD agreed. typically for these kinds of battles theyre prescheduled and have rules on what is or not allowed. Sometimes no crouching for example.
*guy runs through hall and runs through door* Guy: My friend I have gotten word that general Cody has uploaded a war of rights video!! Me:.................my taxes could wait.
They used skirmishers irl so I honestly don’t think it’s a problem in the game. There goal was to take out the leadership and support the main line ( I don’t have the game yet but I can’t wait ) definatly looking forward to skirmishing
Mike Waterman it's not that it didn't happen in real life it is just kind of annoying I suppose. Just think I spend like 10 mins waiting in line then get shot out of no where and miss the action the have to wait another 5-10 mins. Since it is a event that's why I'm asumming that don't want it
I mean regardless of what they don't want...its' still going to happen. It's a war game. Nut up or don't play, if you want to lead and think that doesn't mean catching a lead ball to the gourd then you are sorely mistaken.
'its a war, nut up' says someone whos never been in a war.... THIS IS A EVENT... THERE ARE RULES...... IF YOUR GONNA GET THIS GAME JUST TO FUCK WITH EVENTS........... THEN DON'T.

The confederate sharpshooters seem like a perfectly valid tactic to create time for the lines to build themselves back up. they were certainly effective in making the union line push back into the road
Awesome set of videos from this weekend, thanks :D I contemplated joining in this weekend but instead spent some time on the smaller 40-80 man sessions (wish I had recorded, we had a lot of fun) so I could get to know the game instead. Hope to join the fun next weekend if practicable.
I surprise one side doesn’t do what I call chainsaw formation, front line (1st and only) fires - then kneels to load, rear line moves past and fires - kneels and loads - repeat, not only are you fire volley after volley and fast fire, you’re also moving forward (or in reverse if need be)
dobrą taktyką jest zajmowanie terenu linią .Pierwszy rząd strzela drugi ładuje. i potem wymiana 4 kroki do przodu i znowu pierwszy strzela drugi ładuje potem zamiana . Daje to pełną ciągłość ognia :).
That was a well times counter charge. I must say though that while some hate skirmishers (never played the game or know how these things work) it is quite real as it does aggravate an enemy and draw them into a big mistake as was the Union charge. Almost all battles start with skirmishers poking at the enemy until the main body arrives and then the sheer volume of fire does them in. Gotta love that Union officer calling those skirmishers at the cannons "cheeky bastards" though. HAHAAHHA! Confederates at the end though did a good job choosing ground, put them in the perfect position but again... That barrage would have better been served by "firing by rank." If they had done that... Ouch, it would have been reminiscent of some very real shootouts where regiments caught others on the move and by the flank. Happened many times and was ruthless be it in the west or the east.
In my opinion, we need to wait for those cavalry units to be available for killing skirmishes and being weak to charge on lines. In that manner players tend to join the lines rather then be alone. Gives a good reason for it.
12:29 if the Union had inched up to the wall once at edge of cornfield concealment and stayed behind the wall they would have had solid cover from the wall, concealment cover of camouflage from shadows in front/on them and behind them, the background of the corn, plus the bushes in front of them. Being lower on this hill is not good but can work, the general orders need to be given "Fire at the height of a man in direction of volleys if you do not have an accurate aimed visible target" This will ensure no man in the line is firing over the enemy heads which can happen much easier will bullets already traveling at upward angle. The confederates had up to their thighs at least covered by the hill.
truth be getting told You have to understand that using cover is supposed to be against the rules of these line events. In normal play they would use the stone wall.
Could they still use the defilade of terrain? Because I saw that happen naturally at 12:50 when the confederates had half their legs or more covered. With terrain you can find a spot to be eye level with cover of ground/grass/wheat all the way to full concealment by crouching.
The colors don't provide anything but visual reference, yet, but will eventually operate as mobile respawns. I'm hoping that in a future update, the color bearer will be given more control of the flag's physics so that we can post at the center without it flapping in everyone's face.
I feel like mobile spawns may not be such a good idea if they spawn where the flag is... may break the immersion. I do think it should boost morale though. Or maybe boost sprinting speed while charging...
This isn't a game its an advanced simulator for re-enactors. Look if you make a public server, it will be full of YOLO's, guys getting lost, shooting all over the place, stabbing and clubbing their own side. This will be Clans and organised groups only, great for them, general gamers won't get involved...it'll be like DCS or other specialist low player count but dedicated community.
As always, a great video and sweet camera work! Pardon my ignorance, but why are skirmishers and light infantry behaviour prohibited during the events? I feel that a small contingent of skirmishers would not only spice things up, it would force one side or the other to adapt (ideally both), but then again, I realize that skirmishers are a huge morale loss when they inevitably get ground to a pulp, because the skirmishers as I've seen them in the game are just stood in one location and trying to duke it out with the main line. Anyways, keep up the good job Cody, it's always a pleasure to see you uploading something!
I find the old napoleonic warband line battles much more intense... the amount of reinforcements allows for too many futile charges and constant action, sacrificing the importance of strategy, almost like a COD version of the original idea.

I kinda hate how ineffective charges are. While you’re running towards the enemy. They’ve already gotten of a volley and put on their bayonet

The Unions Volleys were Top Notch but their skirmishes were TRAAAAAAASH.
I think it's funny how the north got upset there were 6 guys picking them off like they ain't playing fair. it's war and strategically a smart move
Love the vid. If you think about the way the used to fight back then, its really kind of silly isnt it? Form lines and take turns shooting eachother
An interesting idea would be to use 17th century swedish tactics. Moving in close with bayonets, firing a volley, and then charging.

I wonder why the union line chose to charge skirmishers, while leaving their flank open to fire from a larger-than-skirmisher-sized force... xD
Do the flags give any sort of buff like reload speed or something? Great video btw.
