Dude you're the only one person that when giving demos of the guitars don't have delay, distortion, plays 100 miles an hour, etc. I can actually get to hear what the guitar sounds like.

yeah, so many youtube guitar channels just crank up their distortion..... we know what distortion sounds like, what does the guitar sound like?
I was actually going to recommend to him that he do a review of zZounds, or at least check them out and give his opinion. I don't see how anyone could say anything negative about them, honestly, unless they mentioned that they're a bit more limited on what they carry than a lot of the bigger shops like Sweetwater. I've bought and paid off fifteen guitars from them, have open tickets on two right now, and am looking at grabbing a PRS on the 18 month plan if it's still going after the first of the year. Their customer service is just as good as Sweetwater, and between the no interest, free shipping, 45 day returns, and all of the other perks, they're my favorite place.

I ordered the rose gold sg and it’s literally the nicest new guitar I’ve ever had. Beautiful case too though Incan see it scratching as mentioned . But the guitar plays and sounds great with the larger neck. A truly awesome special edition.

The Music Zoo is a cool company. I remember when they first opened back in 94. A small-time shop in Long Island, New York. They have now grown and opened a bigger shop. Tommy and the guys there are super friendly. I'm glad to see that they made it to your channel US.
Back in the late 70s,I remember a Burt Trogly, he did reviews of mellotrons, he was outta Plinkton Illinois

This Chanel is one of my favorites to watch. I love learning about cool Gibsons. I think it would be cool to see some guitars from EVH gear.
I joked to myself saying "It must be the Rose SG, mine was heavy AF." I wasn't surprised when it was the SG lol. Fantastic guitar to for me. Loved it. She stinks so bad because of the HP case.. took three days to air out and gas off.
Sad to hear if it never had that good smell. That "old" new Gibson smell should be a ladys perfume. ;)
My case queen 2016 Les Paul Standard has it still.
@@HenkeEdge It has a hint of the root beer smell but since it has sat for so long in an airtight case, it didn't have the chance to breathe. Shes starting to smell a little sweeter.

Love the SG. I too have a limited run 2019 SG Standard that also has more of a rounded neck profile. I have five others. My 2017 has the thinnest neck(by far) and my 2015 Special has a neck like a baseball bat. So the 2019 seems to fall somewhere in the middle. Side note : It was made late summer and quality control is the best I've seen in a long time. Fit and finish is superb.

Again, you’re so ahead of the rest of the UA-cam guitar community. Watching you box and unbox guitars is almost as good as doing it myself. Living my G.A.S. Vicariously through Trogly is incredibly fulfilling.
That white is the perfect amount of dirty in it that it picks up the wood of the neck in just the right way. It grabs you and makes you say " hey im still looking good back here. "
Brand new SG smell: The last Gibson I bought took 2.5 years before the lacquer hardened up. Until then, it would physically sweat when in the case. I would have to wipe off the solvent before I played the guitar. I complained to Gibson, and they said it was somehow my fault. They didn't even apologize. Needless to say, that was the LAST Gibson product I plan to buy.

Looked like you were looking for an excuse to get a new phone anyway. Lol the way you were shaking it around like that.
I ordered a new bass guitar, which didnt come with a case, just the factory cardboard box, and the company only wrapped the outside with bubble wrap... When I got it the box was completely smashed and it looked like someone stepped on it basically folding the box in two almost...And the bass was just falling around in the destroyed box... It was heartbreaking to have seen that... I never even opened the box, it was sent back just like that. Im from South Africa btw, so our courier services arent the best anyway.
So 10 days later I finally got my replacement bass with only slightly better packaging. Point is, its crazy how people decide to ship guitars, just wish more people would do it like its done in these videos...
Best smelling guitars are Martins. Mine kept that scent for months after purchase, too.
Then again, they surely use different lacquers for acoustics so you cannot directly compare electric and acustic smell, I guess.
Austin, do a Vintera 70s Strat or an authentic 70s Strat!

I am so glad your 1979 Strat is a keeper. Back in the day I purchased a 1979 25th Anniversary Strat brand new, it was beautiful and expensive. I was 18 years old then and saved up the $1200 for the guitar. It looked phenomenal and played great. The only problem was the pickup were so bad I had to replace them all within the first few weeks of buying it. I knew they were lack-luster from trying the guitar out at the store, but I just had to have that Anniversary model. Fast forward 18 months, I come back from Military Boot Camp only to find the pearl white finish had turned yellow/brown. I love my Fender guitars but that 1979 Strat was a disappointment.
@@hkguitar1984 Yeah, those Fenders from that era had a lot of finish problems due to them trying out a new type of lacquer or undercoat, can't remember which. My '79/'80 Fender Lead has the common problem of extreme finish checking around the edges. I've also seen examples of Strats turning from black to a misty dark blue, apparently all in the course of one till about three years. Some guitars and basses look really cool though because of it. Definitely makes them unique.

:RE:the rose gold SG - I was hoping you'd review one of these. I bought one last week. Beautiful guitar - not 100% perfect as there was some lacquer bleeding onto the neck binding. Had that same overpowering lacquer smell. Plug it in when I got it home - and...THE NECK PICKUP DOESN'T WORK. Probably an easy soldering fix, but C'MON GIBSON! I have an affinity for this brand, but they continue to do sloppy things like this that frustrate me to no end. I'll likely take it back and ask for a new one. I hate putting the GC staff through that, but I really don't want to go through the whole Gibson warranty circus. FWIW, I emailed and called their customer service department and still have not heard back. So - yeah - hopefully the replacement that comes will be great. And you're right, that neck is considerably chunkier than the typical SG neck. As far as the case - ugh - not a fan. Way too heavy. I'll be putting that thing in a MONOCASE for gigs.

Nice case but Anvils are only 450-500 and their tougher.We had a truck roll over a anvil , truck not wheels with a old Sunn amp head in it .The case died by the amp still worked. I haven't paid money for any amp case since .

I had a 1967 SG (with a very badly repaired neck/headtock break) which had a really chunky neck. I got rid of it as it was hard work to play, but I wish I'd kept it.
Mind you, I feel that way about every guitar I've had that I don't still have...
Trogly have you ever tried a Fender Coronado or Starcaster? They're both super cool "out-there" hollowbody designs that I think are just quirky enough for you to fall in love with
My 2019 brand new lp custom smells exactly like my 2010 then brandnew sg smelled like! This lovely vanilla smell, so they do in fact still smell as good as they used to! I love that smell!

I purchased a used left handed Jackson DK2 Pro. I went to pick it up since I don't live far. They brought it out and it was brand spanking new in the box great condition and good setup. Its a store to visit unlike the other stores it has a relaxed atmosphere and great sales help.

One thing that I love about your reviews, you all tell us about the neck shape and size. I like the 50s style necks on the Gibson’s. The 60s style always gives me hand cramps. Us

I have a 2000 SG Special with the fat neck....it's aawesome.I hot rodded I run a repair shop. Pearly Gates from Seymour Duncan, Emerson pro pots, orange caps, ect.. changed pick gaurd...I giged it for a while....they are light & the tone....nice guitar your showing for sure. I have a 2004 Fender American stratocaster 50th anniversary custom shop pickups inunplayed condition. I have just kept it setup....I bought it new.. put it back....want to turn it into a Fender American telecaster original 60's in lake placid blue.....here I go, hahaha!
That Japanese Stratocaster is a great guitar. I have one myself. It's called the Daybreak 60's Traditional Stratocaster. 275 made. They also have a matching Telecaster. Fenders continuation of the Midnight Series from last year. GC/MF never got them, only the smaller retailers. The new owner will really enjoy it!
i played one of those white daybreak strats in a music shop here in scotland a few weeks ago, it sounded great but i dodnt really like the full gloss neck - not to mention it was just out of my price range

Good variety of guitars reviewed. Have you ever reviewed an M2M Les Pauls? I'm fairly new to your show, but tune in nearly everyday now. I saw a white Les Paul Standard with a white stinger that I understand is quite rare because Gibson didn't want to paint any more. Oh yeah... I could use that car charger or a guitar.

I just bought a Vintage P-bass. I’m so impressed at how well they play and especially for the price. Certainly much better than Squier and certainly an equal to Mexican Fender basses. Highly recommend Trogly. I think Vintage are a British brand
The Music Zoo seems like an awesome store. I’ve always wanted to stop by there and check it out. The Sam Ashes and Guitar Centers in NY suck. I try to only use them for minor purchases like strings & cables etc.
I have been enjoying the unboxing of the new old and crappy guitars ,, I have to laugh ,,my 1st guitar was a Decca 6 string electric , 1 picup , and a little Decca amp that had 5 watts , 1st thing was to get a plug in overdrive that went directly into input jack on amp,, great memories , I enjoy learning.

wait 24-48hrs before unboxing them. Avoid shipping them over the weekend when they will just sit in a truck until Monday

Hi, I love your show! I’ve been a strat player my whole life. I finally picked up a Gibson les Paul at 60, and I realized that life has been half empty, not owning a real Gibson les Paul. I have a chibson, and a 97$ supposed LP with a case, delivered. I can’t wait to see what I get?

10:29, i thought it was just my SG that had that smell. I spend more time sniffing the awesome lignin/vanillin scent then admiring the horns or practicing.

Those Japanese FSR instruments are really great. Far better quality than their MIM counterparts. I bought a FSR Stratocaster XII and recently played a couple of the new MIM Alternate Reality XII’s and the difference was striking.
I just ordered my first Gibson sg from the music zoo, they shipped it the day I bought. Super cool people, but I’m waiting for ups to get it to me. I’m in California and shopping from New York to California is super interesting haha. Shout out to music zoo! You guys r awesome!
