    I know this is an older video but I'm willing to bet that MXU chain has held up well. I used that chain on both my KTM 300 and my current 2012 Beta 498. over 300 hours on that chain and Iron Man rear sprocket. quite a few countershaft sprocket replacements though....

    I had the Samco hoses and after just a month or two it rubbed a hole in it, and they wouldn't replace it. So, we've put a patch on it, thinking about the delete but would just use standard radiator hoses, as I can't see the Samco actually being any better.

    On a hard enduro set up video I saw a guy put the master link clip on the inside of the chain. He said that it was harder to put on but he was never worried about it getting knocked off.

    i can't remember the part numbers but i run a 80 series mousse in a 100 series rear tire works amazing in the hard enduro ( high alpine rocky mountains ) destroys the tires carcas way faster but worth it for the traction on my big old 500exc

    Why the fim tire with the shorty knobs? Yes u said it's a gummy but I thought running fim tires when not required was a disadvantage.

    • @TrailBoundco
      @TrailBoundco  3 роки тому

      the more hard enduro pros I talk to the more I hear them say they prefer the low knobs after having to run them in Europe. it feels more planted and the tire can squash down and the low parts where there is no knobs can touch the rock as well. For extreme traction I think these are better than a tall knob gummy. my favorite all around tire grip + life is the mitas 454 though which has a bit taller knobs and a bit harder shop.trailbound.co/collections/parts/products/mitas-xt-454-extreme-double-green-gummy-tire

    I am in the middle of installing a new RK chain. My chain had NO link clip anymore! I spent 10 minutes spinning the rear wheel on the stand looking for my link ( I installed the chain correctly almost 16 months ago). NO LINK!! And I just came back from a 58 mile ride. I know I installed the link correctly, but could not even conceive it could be knocked off.
    I am contemplating using a true rivet style master link from now on. I've NEVER had a chain break in the woods (520), they are incredibly strong.

    • @TrailBoundco
      @TrailBoundco  2 роки тому +1

      rivet master is probably the way to go. I always wear off the master clips from wear through the usually bent chain guide

    • @TrailBoundco

      @@TrailBoundco I've put 3000 miles on a standard nitromousse and it's still going strong. That being said our terrain is nowhere near as good as yours! I have just received a soft version to try. The Mitas are readily available over here but not tried one yet.

    So why do you remove the thermostat?

    • @onthethrottle7104
      @onthethrottle7104 2 роки тому

      Because they can stick closed and overheat the engine. They are just one more item to fail. The housing is also bulky and prone to puncture your radiator during a crash. They are only on the bike because of the emissions in Europe for the two stokes. If you slowly warm up your engine like you're supposed to you don't need a Tstat.

    Not sure removing the t-stat is a good idea - these bikes are already pretty cold-blooded.

    • @kimojon9665
      @kimojon9665 3 роки тому

      Just have to make sure to warm them up good. But the main reason they are on there is all of the emissions Europe imposes and KTM is facing. Also, those cheap T-stats get hung up and can fry your motor or at least screw up a good day.

    • @joshdoman1929

      I agree i put the samco hose kit on my bike and the bike ran terrible it would not heat up properly. It drank a ton of gas and used alot of oil due to it running much cooler. After just a few rides i had to put the thermostat back on and bike runs perfect now.
