They use the "I live with my aunt but she's not in town" line because kids from broken families are just straight up more vulnerable. If she's living with her aunt - for whatever reason - the guy can assume the parents are not in the picture and that just makes for an easier target. Living with her aunt and they're in a bad neighborhood? Ringing a dinner bell.
It's horrifically sad but absolutely true these kids in broken home situations are targeted.

I hate that this comment reminds me so much of this girl I met in school. Her parents are filthy rich because they own and run a company halfway around the world, and they shipped her off to her aunt so she could be raised in America. She has extremely underdeveloped social skills, but worst of all she is in a relationship with a guy 5-6 years older than her, which matters when you’re in your early 20’s and barely old enough to drink. They make BDSM and racial fetish porn (they are a WMAF couple) that they post to tons of sexual subreddits onto her public profile that is directly linked to her Discord. I’ve MET this boyfriend before and they don’t even act like they like each other, I’ve only seen them sit next to each other while scrolling on their phones. Sure, she’s over 18 and Internet warriors are going to screech that adults can do anything they want, but the lack of guidance in her life, the age gap, the troubling power and racial dynamics in her relationship that doesn’t even appear loving… yikes.

My older sister had a 23yo "boyfriend" when she was 14, and our mom not only knew about it but allowed him to spend the night at our house many times. Only time she got mad was when sis had a pregnancy scare, then mom got angry at the dude, but only for having _unprotected_ s*x with her 14yo daughter.
Same woman wordlessly just watched when her drinking buddy groped me at the table on my 13th bday and called me rude when I got up and left. 🙄
The crazy thing is, my entire family (including my sisters) thinks I'm stupid for not just "letting this go" and that mom did nothing wrong.
I used to blame myself for everything that happened to me but now as a mother myself I have finally realized how truly shitty my upbringing was and what a pos my mom was.

17:36 okay but this hit home. I actually had this happen with an older guy I was talking to ( I was maybe 13/14 and he was 18/19 I think, I just know he was going to college). When I didn’t do what he wanted, he sent the convo to my parent pretending to be looking out for me. Didn’t realized how messed up it all was till a few years ago, and honestly I am still a bit disappointed that my parents punished me instead of going after the guy ( cuz he was an adult and it was really on him not to mess naive younger people).

Regardless, I can't imagine how the police initially said they couldn't do anything despite all the steps the guy had done to impersonate a parent. I guess it only becomes attempted kidnapping if you put your hands on them--showing up with enough background research to reasonably pass for the parent and only getting denied because an official got suspicious doesn't clear the bar. They weren't really even interested in pursuing trespassing or even discuss a restraining order with the parents (a parent brought the subject up briefly).

Most dating sites have a way to report underage users if they really wanted to help they would just do that not show up at their house

The excuses pedos like him give enrage me more when I think about how they’re protected in religious spaces, families, friendships, etc. People generally understand and know those people are pedos, but they overlook it for whatever “contribution” they may provide. It’s disgusting and incomprehensible how people who let pedos get away with such obvious lies live with themselves while victims have to suffer and be gaslit/accept these dangerous people in their lives.

Showing up at someone's house to give them money in the age where there are more online money transfer routes than ways to get to a hous, is the worst excuse lmao

I'd rather know that my money is going to the cause/person intended. Plus not everyone uses e-transfers for money, clearly.

@@coalblooded I've never had a bank sent the money to the wrong place lol.
also I live in a modern country where most money and transactions are digital and safe, rather where almost everyone is running around with paper bills xD

If he just wanted to help financially, he could've just sent the money via venmo or something.
