I hope everyone here and their cats are okay and fight through this. My cat has this and was in the hospital for 3 days and she’s home now. The anxiety of constantly having to watch over her is stressful but I love her.

Rub Organic raw unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar with "the Mother" on their fur (cat's sides) or the top of their paws. They will lick it off. Use one to two tablespoons a day for a few days rubbing it on each side of their fur or paws until you see them have relief. Remember to shake the bottle first. Organic apple cider vinegar will start to go into immediate action for the cat to get relief and clear the blockage. It saved my cat that was pissing blood and then could not pee while squatting all the time. Also, it helps get rid of UTI bacteria; Walmart sells it. Also, buy "cranimals" from amazon. It is a cranberry extract that helps the kidneys and gets rid of UTI problems. Put 1/4 teaspoon in two small cans of wet cat food or equivalent to that with one big can. You can also wash out an old salt and pepper shaker to sprinkle a decent amount in their food. Any amount more than that I have noticed they will not eat it. Keep in mind that it is important to ensure cats, when feeling normal, get enough water to keep their system flowing. Try putting some added bit of water in their wet food. Avoid salty meats if they are having this problem. Ensure they eat wet cat food over dry for the moisture content. Too much dry food can lead to blockages with lack of hydration compared to canned cat food.
If you use clay litter make sure you use the unscented. Scented can irritate their pee track with synthetic chemicals leading to inflammation and UTI blockages. Clumping kitty litter is not ideal for cats either, as it may stick on them more to ingest it that could lead to blockages. Also, a couple teaspoons of baking soda mixed in a small box of litter and a couple tablespoons of baking soda mixed in a large litter box will help keep it clean and neutralize smell. Baking soda is known to help get rid of UTI's, but be extremely careful using it because it is extremely high in salt content which is dangerous for cats! The idea is that they will ingest a tiny amount after going in the kitty box and then cleaning themselves. Make sure to keep the litter sanitary by keeping it clean and dry enough to prevent bacteria. I also recommend incorporating some Feline Pine Kitty Litter made of Pine pellets in unscented non-clumping clay litter. It will keep it naturally fresh smelling and help keep it dry. One bag goes a long way to just help supplement the litter. It is sold at most pet stores. Here are the links:

Read this (I would’ve loved this advice when I was first going though this with my cat) This disease is a day to day struggle, while some cats have only one “flare up” ever, there are cats like mine who get flare ups quite often. The preventative measures aren’t curative, there is no cure unfortunately, only measures to control it and prevent constant flare ups but there are days where your cat will be blocked once again. My advice as someone who’s cat has dealt with this for 5 months now is simple: speak to your vet and see if you can get a blood test to determine the underlining cause, because there are multiple causes for this disease: urinary calculi (bladder stones), Bacterial infections, neoplasia (tumour) anatomical abnormalities, urethral plugs (blockage of urethra with of mixture of crystals or small stones and inflammatory material) and while these are reasons that can be prevented easily these issues are usually only presented 30% of the time, the most Likely cause (70%) is idiopathic. Which basically means there is no cause and my cat unfortunately has idiopathic cystitis. Now don’t panic if your cat is idiopathic, because my cat still thrives regardless of having some days of flare ups. Now this is my advice ( what I received from my vet) I use royal canine SO urinary wet food pouches as my cats food (which can be expensive so I’d recommend only feeding your cat this maybe three times a week while substituting the other days with food you usually give him [the raw food diet is the healthiest option in my opinion) I also give half a tablet twice a day of MINIPRESS to my cat (which my vet prescribed to him I’d recommend seeing your vet about the medication to see if it would be a good option) and the last but honestly most effective thing (especially if your cat doesn’t drink enough water everyday) is to get syringes that you’d use in like cough syrup etc and fill them up with water and give them to your cat three times or more a day (don’t over do it cause that can cause vomiting) now other things to look into is making sure you have two litter boxes per cat, making sure they aren’t constantly dirty, changing your cats water bowl once to twice a day and cleaning it! (Metal and ceramic bowls are preferable to kitties) and while I know some cats are picky, dry food shouldn’t be the only thing in your cats diet, they need liquids especially with FLUTD. So wet food, plenty of water bowls etc. you can even give your cat dry food with some water in it. I hope this advice helps cat owners as much as it helps me and honestly while these things give my cat the life he had previously there are days like today where he is struggling and that’s normal unfortunately. (If your cat goes to the toilet and absolutely no pee comes out that is a cause for concern and you should immediately seek vet attention, if your cat urinates a little that means that there is some hope to quickly avert the crisis, i mainly just give him the syringes of water and the half tablet and monitor his urinating and he most of the time gets back on track but there can be instances where he stops peeing altogether and is howling and hissing and crying. Which is terrifying fortunately for me the next day he managed to get over this flare up, however in this case owners who aren’t used to your cat with this disease should also seek vet care. I hope every cat owner with FLUTD can live a stress free life with their kitties

To be honest I wouldn't use ceramic bowls because they are covered in a gloss that may contain lead. I am a lead inspector and the last bowl i had I actually tested it and it had lead in the gloss . So if there's just the slightest crack at all that let is leaking out and also the gloss can deteriorate over time and get into their water as well . Metal I'm not to sure of either. The best thing in my opinion is just a pure glass bowl nothing else. But great advice thanks a bunch ! 👍 🥰

Hey guys, I took my cat off tap water and he recovered. I believe it was the minerals in the hard water that were causing this. Even though the vet said that tap water can’t cause it and there were no blockages on his x-ray.
When I was at the vet I asked about the water and he said no. He said stress causes it. I literally looked it up on my phone as he took the cat to examine him and within seconds, found tons of evidence that cats who drink tap water in hard water areas are much more prone to cystitis.
He said to give him stress drops. The stress drops did NOTHING. He only was healed after I changed the water. He is still stressed out as he and my other cat fight all the time. He hasn’t had an episode and has miraculously recovered after I switched to the distilled water.
It must be distilled water. Animals cannot process the chlorine, fluoride or minerals in spring, tap, most bottled water. And refrigerator filters do not filter out chlorine and fluoride. The screw on tap filters do nothing to filter out the chlorine and fluoride either. Many of the pitcher filters do not either.
You can get it from any store or have it delivered. The water must read “000” or as close to it as possible. And also I gave the neighbor’s dog only distilled water when they were out of town to work with her and she made a 50% recovery in 6 days! She had osteoarthritis and couldn’t even lay down on her bed properly. It took her like 20 seconds just to sit and she groaned in pain. She is so much more agile and up and trotting around.
It says it will take 7-60 days for animals to recover from chlorine and fluoride or mineral toxicity. It is causing arthritis and cancer in animals. Not just that, it’s causing so many other issues with the pets I was pet sitting for. Lipomas, paw issues, skin issues, brain issues, unexplained health issues. You name it, tap and hard tap water were killing the animals I know and love. I started drinking it too and feel much better this week. If it’s the water, maybe this might help. Good luck with this guys!

Hey, so I think distilled water shouldn't be the only source of water for humans, but how has your cat been so far? Been told twice in a month that my cat's cystitis is stress related - but the second time around nothing's changed, and he doesn't seem stressed at all. I'm curious to know this too, do you have sources you can refer me to? I'm hoping this doesn't happen again and again.

Dry food is a problem no matter how healthy it claims to be. Kibble is the worst and is loaded with plant-based additives that actually help create crystals and Stones in the cat's body. Not including all the artificial preservatives and materials in there. It is very alkaline when the cat's body should be mostly acidic. These are things that the cat wouldn't normally eat in the wild. The commercial food is destroying their metabolism and their organs. And if not it shortens their life in general. I recommend looking into raw diet in the future because cats are obligate carnivores. They are being fed a self-destructive diet.

I just read all of the comments. when I say I am glad I feel like someone understands what I am going through , I mean it. I own 2 cats and I have never even heard of this condition before. It really pops up out of the blue, or in my case with my male tabby cat it did. He is 2 years old and had trouble urinating, was hissing and growling, and urinated outside of the litter box. My vet brought up euthanasia right off the bat, which I understood was an option if this was really as severe as they stated. I don't want him to suffer but I am determined to help him the best I can. I took him one time and they did an ultrasound and found struvite crystals in his bladder. He was still urinating so they gave him a pain relief shot and sent him home with the hills c/d urinary care brand of wet food (neither cat liked wet food so we ended up trading it for dry). One week later the same symptoms occurred and we rushed back to the vet. This time he was close to having a urinary blockage. So they kept him overnight and gave fluids and was monitoring him to see if he could urinate. He was having trouble still so they flushed his bladder out with a catheter and kept him another night to see if he could urinate on his own. He eventually did and was fine, came home on Gabapentin and Prazosin and another pill. Diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease with little to no explanation of treatment options. Only that he would be a lifelong commitment and it was never too late to euthanize. Anyways, this was all less than 3 weeks ago. Literally tonight, he is hopping in and out of the litter box and trying to urinate again. No hissing or growling, of course I am keeping an eye on him. But this has got to be one of the most confusing diseases I have ever heard of. No cure, no known cause only speculation of what it could be. Lack of hydration, low quality food high in magnesium, phosphorus or calcium, hereditary disposition, stress? I mean how are pet owners suppose to know what causes it if the veterinarians don't? Not that I am blaming vets for this disease, but its almost like playing process of elimination trying to figure out how to manage this disease. I have learned more about this disease from the comments below than what I have any vet. I am going to start giving distilled only water, rubbing apple cider vinegar on him (diluted a bit prob) changing his litter, and getting a water fountain for him. I was told by my vet to not give any vitamins, supplements, anything other than water and food. Not sure why and they also couldn't give any answer. Of course, I am thankful the hospital treated him and he survived, but the cost alone was $1200 and there is still a chance that he could become blocked again. It's really frustrating because I know the vets are more educated than I am, but it almost feels like they are using my cats illness to make money off of me. And a lot of the situations I have read about people feel the same way.. Regardless, I am determined to find a way for him to manage. Never lose hope with your animals. I am about to get a few different opinions as every vet seems to have their own way of treating animals.

I don't know if you have seen this comment yet, but just in case:
Rub Organic raw unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar with "the Mother" on their fur (cat's sides) or the top of their paws. They will lick it off. Use at least two tablespoons in a day or if necessary a few days in an emergency for cats. For very young cats reduce that amount to one tablespoon. For kittens use only a teaspoon. Rub the organic apple cider vinegar on each side of their fur or the top of their paws until you see them have relief. Remember to shake the bottle first. If you have a wild cat that doesn’t take orders, then douse him with a good bit in a small glass. A lot will bead of his fur. Also, they will not be able to lick off the entirety of it all at once. Organic apple cider vinegar will start to go into immediate action for the cat to get relief from the blockage. It saved my cat that was pissing blood and then could not pee while squatting all the time. Also, it helps get rid of UTI bacteria; Walmart sells it. Ideally, it is best to use organic apple cider vinegar because it tastes rather good and is much more tolerable for the cat to ingest it compared to the filtered kind which tastes horrible.
Remember only to use the organic apple cider vinegar as necessary. Too much too often could lead to an ulcer. From my experience a couple tablespoons a week has not hurt my cat. If it is a real emergency you could go beyond that just do not let it come to a habit of more than that each week. Keep in mind; you will likely have reoccurring bouts with this for a while. That is why I recommend some other preventative measures as you read on below:
Keep in mind that it is important to ensure cats, when feeling normal, get enough water to keep their system flowing. Ensure they eat wet cat food over dry for the moisture content, Consider temporarily stopping the cat from eating dry food or even permanently if necessary. Too much dry food leads to blockages with lack of hydration compared to canned cat food. Try putting some added bit of water in their wet food. Avoid salty meats if they are having this problem. Salty meats or salty canned food meats like tuna will stop up your cat for sure!
If you use clay litter make sure you use the unscented. Scented can irritate their pee track with synthetic chemicals leading to inflammation and UTI blockages. Never use clumping litter for cats; it can lead to blockages because cats can ingest it much easier. That can cause ingestion of sludge and bacteria leading to inflammation and UTI’s. Clumping litter is known to be extremely dangerous for kittens and not good for cats in general. Buy only fragrant free non-clumping litter, and then add one heaping tablespoon of baking soda mixed in per 10 pounds of cat litter that you use. It will naturally neutralize the smell; Just do not go beyond that because baking soda is really high in salt which is dangerous for cats if they ingest it more than a tiny amount by licking their paws each time using the litter box. I have used it for my cat and it works well, he actually prefers this litter combination. Baking soda is known to help aid and help get rid of UTI’s. Never give it to your cat other than in the litter! Additionally, use feline pine litter and add it to your litter with several handfuls to add a nice fragrant smell. A little goes a long way to just supplement the litter.
Also, consider buying "cranimals" from amazon. It is a cranberry extract that helps the kidneys and gets rid of UTI problems. Put 1/4 teaspoon in two small cans of wet cat food or equivalent to that with one big can. You can also wash out an old salt and peppershaker to sprinkle a decent amount in their food. Any amount more than that I have noticed they will not eat it. Putting cranimals cranberry powder in their food will help keep their pee acidic to break down crystals.
Additionally, "Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth" helps assist in UTI treatment sold on Amazon. It is a "diuretic" thus helps people and animals urinate 30% more to empty the bladder to keep crystals from forming. Completely safe for cats with no limitations of consumption and has no salt in it. Cats tolerate it because it has almost no taste. Just be careful not to breathe it in by getting it dusted up in the air because it is dangerous to breathe it in. Make sure to only use "Food Grade."Use at least about 1/4 teaspoon per small can wet cat food. Lastly, I have learned of a brand called "tinkle tonic" from chewy or amazon that some claim helped their cats.
Finally, consider your cat’s stress level. Stress could be another factor that can lead to inflammation of the bladder area. Try to ensure he has enough to do to keep happy.

I recognized these symptoms in my cat right away, called the vet who said they could get him in but it would be considered an emergency visit.. I got there at the time they told me to come (hour later) was taken to the exam room where someone took my cat to be weighed. Came back 1 min later and then the vet came in. He then told me that the cat would need this procedure and that it would cost $1000!! The whole time my cat was on the floor. I wasn't prepared to put my cat down so I agreed. Come to find out my cat was put in a cage for the next 2-3 hours while waiting in agony to be cared for...
Upon looking at the bill I see I am being charged $67 for an emergency visit and $40 for an exam! Apparently the vet noted my cats abdomen while it was being weighed. NOTHING was done in the exam room, in fact the Vet never touched my cat in the exam room.
Would you all pay these charges!
Why am I being charged for an emergency visit when the cat was put in a cage for hours?

They noted that his stomach was empty and gave anti biotic drops that make him vomit to the point of near death i had to rush him to the emergency hospital I checked the bill to see why the emergency hospital charged me less then the vet. To my surprise they charged him for ear infection test (I wasn’t informed nor did he have an ear infection) ik I’m no vet but if my cats having problems peeing cat eat and is extremely week his ears are not my main concern. They also charged me for food I didn’t want and never gave me it.

Currently this is his third time in the last two months and I accidentally set out the wrong food for the other cat. He got into it and he never really has drank water. We’ve tried different bowls. What can I do? He went to the vet yesterday and I can not afford for him to stay on a catheter/sedation. He’s got the food that helps with PH, meds that open up the urinary tract, meds for pain, and a anti biotic.
He keeps squatting but only small bloody quarter sized spots.
I feel like I’m watching him die. It’s my fault because I can’t afford to fix him.

I am going to share what happened about my cat. You may think it’s crazy, I don’t really care. Maybe it will help some cat.
About five years ago my cat who was about six years old, started having urinary tract problems symptoms.
She would holler for no reason and start racing around. She would urinate on the floor instead of going into her box.
I prayed to know what to do. I was given the word, inaudibly, iron.
Well I checked on the net and sure enough low iron was considered to be a possible cause for cat urinary tract problems.
I started giving her 36 mg of iron over a week’s time. Don’t ask me why I picked that amount, I couldn’t say, but it worked.
The cat went back to using her litter box and has been very healthy and happy. One time I forgot to include the iron in her pet food, and she had symptoms again.
I also give her only wet food as I have heard that helps the urinary system.

Learn how to use D-Mannose properly, greatly increase liquids (even with a canned diet), feed them a species appropriate diet and get them moving around more (playing, "hunting", going on walks, etc) - do these simple things and you have a great chance of your cat never having FLUTD or even UTIs.

"Royal Canin Urinary SO". I had two of my boys diagnosed with Struvite bladder stones, blocked , and nearly died. They were thankfully saved, and have been on this diet 1 for 1 year and other one for 7 years with no recurrences. Additionally I added 2 water fountains so they can drink more (Drinkwell is great as water drips like from a tap) . Also as there is a suggestion it could be hard water too, give them just filtered water. Lastly an extra litter tray is a must.

For 5 days I've been finding MANY very small clumps in the litter box, about the size of a dime. After doing some reading I'm thinking it indicates a urinary infection which seems to be a different thing from the blockage they describe in this video? Two months ago he started eating Royal Canin Hydrolized Protein dry food (for itching) and I'm guessing that might be the cause of his problem. He gets so stressed going to the vet, I just can't do it to him and don't know what to try... maybe an OTC urinary can food.

my 7 year old cat had a complete blockage about 4 months ago , they broke 4 catheters clearing him $1600 later they have him on prescription special royal canine SO urinary food and with strict instructions to continue monitoring him to be able to catch signs earlier if he gets blocked again.

    • @TazHall
      @TazHall 2 роки тому +1

That prescription food is the worst and drains the wallet. Try diluting apple cider vinegar and a bowl of water with some minced up canned fish like sardines or salmon with the (brine drained out). You can add some organic cranberry juice concentrate as well. The natural kind that doesn't have any sugar or other juices mixed in. Try looking into natural remedies because the vets do not consider any homeopathic remedies. They just want to sell a prescriptions that create other problems. And at the end of the day try looking into raw diet for your pets in general, the commercial food causes so much sickness.

Nowhere in this video do they address the CAUSE of the symptoms (signs) of FLUTD. Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease is only a name given to a group of symptoms. What is causing the symptoms? I was told to bring my cat back to the vet, next week. They stated that my cat’s bloods are fine, and that her kidneys are fine. Claimed it was a UTI. Thus- I’m currently treating my cat with what was given. ( Which I agree with. ) My cat usually goes to the bathroom outside. However- she peed on one of my bean-bags. And the stench was horrific. Smelled like something was decomposing, two weeks ago. But- so far, I’ve not been getting that scent anymore. ( as she takes it outside )
My cat seems to be keeping away from food, so far. It’s sad to see. It’s good to notice it in its early stages, to prevent it from getting worse. ;-;! I’ll keep ya updated- if need be!

      This should help:

There is plenty to do, look at natural remedies. You can take a can of salmon rinse out the brine, add some water and make a little salmon "soup" with a cap full of apple cider vinegar feed them at least three times a day with this. If you're feeding them kibble, cut it out immediately, the alkaline plant-based ingredients often found in kibble contribute to stones and crystals in the cat's body. Look for a really good quality canned food and ideally transition your cat to a raw diet. Some of the better food I've used was this refrigerated sausage called fresh pet. I mostly give all three of my cats raw diet now. Only one of them keeps getting UTI from what I suspect is stress because she fights with the other cat a lot.

Raw diet is best and natural to their system. A little piece of heart, liver and chicken meat, washed and vinegar water and frozen in a ziplock. Occasional fish, bone and cartilage every other day. Put ziplock in a bowl of water in the fridge overnight and it will be ready to go in the morning, and put the next serving to defrost right after you serve the first serving for the day. You can squeeze a little cod liver oil over the food along with a little drop of apple cider vinegar. You can put little natural supplements and herbs that cats like to eat over the food too like chamomile or catnip.

Please help me. My male cat “Frosty” has been going in and out of the vet due to urinary blockage. First time I noticed was when he started to lick his genitals a lot and was hissing while doing so. Frosty is a very sweet, gentle baby and never hissed. So that was alarming for me. I later on noticed he couldn’t pee. He was straining to urinate for 10-15mins and nothing was coming out. We took him to the vet the next day and they had to insert a catheter in him. He stayed at the vet for 4 days (which cost me A LOT) then he came back home. I got him a water fountain, which he loved. He started drinking probably 8x more than he did, and I also incorporated wet food into his diet. I would feed him wet food in the morning with extra water, and dry food in the evening with water added. He has been peeing so much (it almost squirts) and i was so happy. Weeks later he started to pee very little again with blood. I was very worried, but the next day, his pee was back to normal. No more blood too. What a relief. But another few weeks later, he blocked again. No pee was coming out for a whole day. I tried to follow advices on youtube and gave him ACV but it didn’t work for me at all. (I gave him ACV the first time he blocked too and didnt work as well). So we took him to the vet and he had to stay there for a few days again. Vet Doctor said a perineal urethrostomy would be recommended if he still blocks. I AM SO SCARED I don’t want him to get surgery and I cannot afford it. It has been 2 days since he’s home now and i notice him peeing small amounts again. He has take home medications and I’ve been giving it to him religiously. Results also said there’s no crystals or stones found in his urine/bladder. Suspected cause is bacteria. Why does it keep coming back despite him being very hydrated? I’ve been feeding him urinary care food too, as well as Royal Canin. I really cannot afford any more vet visit. Could cat litter be the cause too? If so, what’s the safest option? Please help me!

Additionally, "Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth" helps get rid of UTI's over time sold on Amazon. It is a "diuretic" thus helps people and animals urinate 30% more to empty the bladder . Completely safe for cats with no limitations of consumption and has no salt in it. Cat's tolerate it because it has almost no taste. Just be careful not to breath it in by getting it dusted up in the air. Make sure to only use "Food Grade. "Use at least about 1/4 teaspoon per small can wet cat food.
I heard of someone even using the regular apple cider vinegar without being organic still worked for their cat. It makes me wonder if even the "white vinegar" would work. I believe it would if you were desperate and that is all you had. Just make sure you use it in a small amount. Additionally, use more wet food than dry and try to add extra water for them to drink enough. Also, only use the apple cider / white vinegar when necessary if your cat starts to struggle with pee. This is a very serious condition. We just had to have our Vet put our Beautiful green eyed Persian, Truffles, to sleep. It has been 3 days and I'm still crying and grieving. I can't accept my good boy is gone. They said he was in a lot of pain. I couldn't allow that but it was the hardest decision I had to make. The night before he lost the use of his back legs and we found him lying in his feces and urine. We just couldn't understand what was going on. After much testing, sedation and X-rays they discovered he had lesions on his spine along with the bladder not working. I was in shock. How can you know these things are going on until it's too late. His legs were collapsed, couldn't pee and then the lesions on his spine? My poor boy. He was roughly 10. We rescued him back in 2012. It cost over $600. for everything the Vet did that night and in the end we lost him. But we had to find out if he was suffering. We don't have much extra money either, I'm on disability SSI but we paid it. We will be trying to recoup as we don't have credit and at this time would not be accepted for it. It's just something one has to do if you love your fur baby. And we would sell anything we own if we could have him back. This heartache doesn't feel like it will ever end. I want my boy back.
We have 7 other rescues. I keep praying to have some money windfall this way. I would use it to have a sanctuary where no animal has to suffer because pet owners can't afford to bring their pets in on a regular basis. I didn't go out looking for these cats, they found us. But now they are our fur children and we love with all our hearts. God Bless all who are going through pain.

Make sure to only use "Food Grade."Use at least about 1/4 teaspoon per small can wet catfood. If you use clay litter make sure you use the unscented. Scented can irritate their pee track with synthetic chemicals leading to inflammation and UTI blockages. Keep in mind that it is important to ensure cats, when feeling normal, get enough water to keep their system flowing. Try putting some added bit of water in their wet food. Avoid salty meats if they are having this problem.
      Also, buy "cranimals" from amazon.
It is a cranberry extract that helps the kidneys and gets rid of UTI problems. Put it in the wet cat food or rub on them mixed with water.

There are many theories from metabolic issues, infections/inflammation in the body, stress/behavioral, diet, amount of water intake, overweight, etc. The best approach is probably to have your veterinarian perform an exam and discuss possible tests to rule out predisposition.

think twice before having a pet as the medical expenses are exorbitant. $1200 for an hour or two visit for my poor little cat who peed outside the box. I have changed his food to Hills Science Diet Urinary WHICH can only be bought through my Veterinarian. I see so many homeless with two or more dogs, even one, HOW can they take care of them? Poor homeless, poor animals.

I think it the bare minimum should be to pay for the euthanasia of your dying animal if they do end up falling ill. I had to do that today. I was not an easy decision, but it was the economical one. I can fill this cat shaped void with a new cat much easier than I can fill the money void that would be created attempting to save my dying cats life.

Alkaline pH - cats are carnivores, yet a majority of the easy available food found in stores is plant based (even if it says meat is the #1 ingredient). Please feed your pets a biological correct diet. Cats need a meat based diet, dogs are omnivores. Stay clear of the well known pet brands like Purina, Meow mix, Friskies, 9 Lives etc. There are meat based products out there, but you can often not find them in the big pet stores, but in specialty stores or online. (Honest Kitchen, R.A.D, Primal, Steve's, Acana, Pride, Orijen etc) Plant based foods are alkaline (great for the human body), meat based food is acidic (great for a carnivore). Please look into feeding your pet the appropriate food. Prevention is much cheaper then paying all those veterinary bills.

      This should help:

Why don't you vets ever consider natural remedies for these animals??? You keep enabling this constant sadness and drama, constantly spilling people's wallets of thousands of dollars to add to the injury. You keep doing the same madness over and over, treating the symptoms but never getting to the root. If I kept listening to the vet, my cat would have died from this. They were giving her this food that was bloating up her weight and would have made her obese. I just quit all the commercial food put her on raw and her weight is stable. She still gets UTI every now and then from what I suspect is stress because she fights with another cat a lot. But it's a lot better than back when she was on commercial food.
