I wish to join one of the academies but what are you guys think. I don’t really want to go to traditional school but if I had to I would.

Finished the application for the class of 2026 a few weeks ago. My advice to applicants: GET IT DONE. It will get VERY discouraging at some points but that’s the idea.
Fully completing USNA’s application is an accomplishment in of itself. It requires you keep your head down and step out of your comfort zone. It requires you to ask for help. If you’re currently a High school Junior, begin your research now! Apply to summer seminar! You’ve got this!!

I am currently a senior in high school waiting to hear back from the academy and this video is amazing. There aren’t that many people on UA-cam that are vlogging at USNA so I would definitely love to see more come from you. Keep up the great work! Also maybe in the future invest into a better camera! Go Navy! Beat Army!

Day in the Army basic training. Morning, drill screams, "Red Line!" Recruits(cadets) scramble outside their rooms into the hall to stand at attention, they present the drill with all their morning supplies, drills inspect each recruit for a clean shave etc. Navy cadets got it easy.

Also words of advice if you do: don't bring sneakers that you want to keep clean- lots of kids my year had to end up throwing theirs out, I didn't, but it happened. Bring a half full suitcase, you're not gonna need a lot and they're gonna send you home with A LOT of stuff. Finally, the days are long but the week is short so be sure to take in every moment.

@@Burzurk1987 It was not filmed in Annapolis or even Maryland tho :-( I grew up in Annapolis & still live nearby on the Chesapeake Bay, so it was disappointing for me. Any Mid will tell you (or my dad who graduated from the USNA) or me a Navy brat, it's not very accurate and riddled with big & little errors. Annapolis is a great place to visit (along w/ DC), so bring him for a vacation when the pandemic is over. You can tour the Constellation in Baltimore's inner harbor, the Navy's last sail only warship commissioned in 1855. If he sees it and meets some mids, it may really help him to focus on his goal and I wish him all the best for it! Check into summer programs they have for high schoolers too.

I always wanted to know what is like the life of a cadet in the USNA. I was a cadet in the Naval Military Academy from Venezuela. It is nothing like that. The video you guys look more like been in a civilian college so relaxing. It is like hell where I went. No cell phones unless you are in your senior year, you get counts to get ready for inspection etc..

I go to Chapel Hill rn, but it's tempting to try and transfer to the academy because of how rewarding the experience seems.

jguo117 Nice and be sure to keep in mind SMCs in case the academies don’t work out. USNA rejected me and now I go to Texas A&M with the corps of cadets and it’s a great experience

Hey, that was interesting! I was always curious about the academy (I had to decide between the USNA and UCLA - chose UCLA) You look like you're doing well - good luck to you and keep uploading videos.

why did you choose UCLA over USNA? Are you happy with the decision?

    • @Ninariley2003

@@ethanweinrot8050 well, it was a situational choice. Let's just say that high school was very intense for me ( AP, student government, sports, youth rep in city government, etc. - blah blah, usual over achieving BS. ) Going to the academy would have pleased my Dad but choosing UCLA pleased me and I enjoyed it but it is a different challenge than the Academy, in some ways you grow up fast because it is only as structured as you make it - the academy has every day, month, and year structured and lockstep, you are told what to do. You can easily screw up at UCLA because you can have too much fun.

My dad was Class of '53 & it was fun to imagine him going thru a day like you did (altho somehow they all did it w/o a computer back then). He was an NCAA All American Fencer for the Academy. Sadly, I hear it is just a club sport now which is sad considering it's a military academy and everyone has a sword. I grew up in Annapolis, but unfortunately USNA was never a possibility for me because it was before they admitted women.
Dad actually enlisted right out of high school (he never applied despite showing leadership & academic skills in high school & was an Eagle Scout) and was eventually sent to NAPS and got his appointment that way. He served on mine sweepers mostly out of Norfolk & Charleston. Dad was a good guy, I miss him.
