I applied, got rejected, ended up enlisting into the marines and plan on going through OCS later in my life because I realize USNA does not make the majority of Marine officers. And doesn’t matter where you start matters where you end.
I've heard the enlisted Marines have a lot of respect for the OCS officers, maybe more than for the USNA officers because the OCS guys have the enlisted pov and experiences.
VQI Channel yeah I heard about that but to me it doesn’t matter where you start long as you can do the job and care about the well being of your marines/sailors. A lot of people where I’m from look down upon me because most kids at my school all are going to ROTC’s or 4 year military academies. I like where I’m doing (enlisting first then go to OCS) because it’ll give me a better understanding how everything works.
“I don’t like talking about the Naval Academy because it’s just a drop in the bucket compared to your entire career.” This is what I expected both of them to say since they both have the same attitude towards questions about BUD/s
Look for volunteer work on your base that you are stationed at. You can't build a superior evaluation sheet just doing regular work in your unit. Generals and Admirals have a support staff and working with them will earn commendation letters. If the base has an honor guard, volunteer for it. If there are community service programs, volunteer to work with them. Just going about doing the minimum required of you will give you more free time and time lifting weights at the gym, but it doesn't build up an awesome service record.
I love the Academy and love my experience there. Totally what you make of it. Got in trouble and didn’t have great grades, still a great career in the fleet. Anyone considering it should definitely apply. People who hate “ring knockers” are just jealous. Good and bad people in every organization.
Officer and a Gentleman was based on NAS Pensacola. Also, there was a Commandant Quackenbush at NAS Pensacola. Sure wish we could share a coffee. I’d enjoy jamming with you. :)
It was based in AOCS (aviation officer candidate school), a retired counterpart to regular OCS in the sense that all the officers who graduate AOCS will have careers in aviation. This method of basic officer selection course not practiced and has not been practiced for a long time in the navy. But yes “an officer and a gentleman is based in NAS Pensacola.
Thank you. Originally I don't understand what discipline means, so I know people might struggel to understand it. Discipline is Self-Control. To control yourself. This don't mean to impose Pain on yourself, but to accept (Divine) suffering. There are two bad things, saying this over my Head: Pain and Suffering. With no Third to Them. The Third Thing is God's Mercy, which we don't deserve at all, and we should only be Thankful for it. We are thankful by submission aka Islam, and independent of our sin not allowing a Partner to God. God is One, and No One is his Partner. Jesus or Muhammed are not Partners. Their Head Servants, and a good example. And other Leaders under them in decending order. Important is: There is no Force. Take your time, or reject this. But everything has consquences. And please obey The Law from Above? I don't want people to Hurt. But I want people to accept Suffering, and that Only God defines Suffering, and Pleasure and Pain. You might know: Pain is optional, but Suffering is obligatory. ... Your friend me a Horsedung whom asks God for Mercy. I am No One and acknowledge Gods Divinity, and I Fear his Wrath. And Thank God The Lord of The Worlds.

already ran my thirty hills this morning....at noon it’s thirty more . I’ll walk my dogs in between. the weed gives me the munchies so I’m about to do the dishes. Thanks for the wisdom. I just received an appointment to USNA and it’s pretty incredible and very blessed. I’ll take this to heart.
