Whoever asked him this question, are you paying attention? Are you looking at the video? This man did a video just to show you, does it work are not. This man is great, keep up the good work guy stay safe 💪🏻😷👍🏻
My experience is, using slick rubber tires on drift car it becomes really twitchy and wont stay on straight like a normal touring car, as drift car are made extremely lightweight to be thrown into the corners to hold drift. Vice versa on a touring car with drift tires, you will be sliding more than holding a drift.
What an experiment. Awesome demonstration!!! I am going to try this later on my Sakura D5 AuperD5 pro that has the flagship electronics from Hobbywing Drift XD10 esc with the D10 10.5T motor, Futaba HPS CT500 servo, and Onisiki Daruma high performance gyro. Oh this going to be interestingly fun. Knowledge is power. Keep pouring in the info. You truly have made this hobby extremely fun and memorable for me.
Very surprising how the MST didn't even care that the front tires were rubber. Just shows how much of driving a RWD drift car is all about controlling the rear end.
Really an interesting and nice made video.Sometimes i use my yokomo as a Touring car , it is maybe a little bit tricky to drive with locked differentials and very soft suspension ,but possible.Have a nice Weekend.
Harry! Great to hear from you. I was surprised with my RWD drift car how much the chassis would lean with the rubber tires. Exactly as you are saying, so soft suspension makes it interesting

Its easy to control all you need its to get handle of it and rip it there i have done a lot of things to the redcat thunder drift to make it way better Roadside RC
Thank you. The wheels that come on it are great for powersliding. The body is a standard touring car body. You will be searching for "200mm touring car body". Almost any of them will fit.
This video is exactly what I was looking for. but I have a question...I really want to get into RC and I love the idea of the RWD MST chassis but I'm not really into drifting, to be honest I'm mainly interested in the scale aspect of having a realistic body and RWD. Would the MST be fast and stable for driving around on sidewalks and parking lots just for fun?
The MST chassis really is fun...but I would not use it for a regular parking-lot racer. You can get away with a MUCH cheaper vehicle for that if you really don't care about the drifting aspect of it. Examples: - Vaterra V100 - Redcat Thunder or Lightning (basically a standard touring car) - MST TCR (it is their touring car, can be converted from FF, MR, or RR layouts - it is sweet!). - plus many more. I would suggest checking out that MST TCR first.
Very entertaining, and it was wonderful to watch. Actually, I did the same thing to my yokomo yd2ex, I put rubber tires and turned off the gyro, and it drove just like a touring car. Oh you need to turn down the steering throw. Left to right.
So replacing Sakura d5 tires that came with the kit with rubber tires might be help ? My car seems like flying, has no grip to the floor, maybe too light?
Light is good. Weight is bad. You do NOT want rubber tires for rc drift. This is just for fun. Keep trying other drift tires to find what works for your surface.
Thank you! I wanted to do that this day, but it started to rain so I left it off. On my to-do list is to get all of these vehicles to a parking lot for some fun. My guess is that Redcat is going to be a blast.
let me answer your question, a drift car with rubber tires probably gonna be more stable on tarmac but still twichy and wont hold a straight line becoz the chassis is too light and suspension is too hard. You can enjoy cornering and acceleration but its very twitchy.
Hey I have a Sakura d4 rwd. It’s brushless obviously and has basically all metal gears. Will I blow gears and stuff with rubber wheels? It’s very similar to the mst car you have there.
Glad you enjoyed this. Here are one of the sets of I tires I have used, with good results. They are cheap, but that is OK for this activity. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&toolid=11800&pub=5575476760&campid=5338469288&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F4pcs-Flat-Racing-Soft-Rubber-Tires-Wheel-Rim-for-1-10-RC-On-Road-Touring-Car%2F281649146936%3Fepid%3D1739112660%26hash%3Ditem419398ec38%3Ag%3ACLgAAOSwfI1dFtIp
I have run rubber tires on the Thunder Drift many times. It works great. Yes, over time the belt will stretch, but I think that will happen no matter what.
It depends on what you want. As an example, the Tamiya TT-02D is basically the standard TT-02, with different wheels and some slightly suspension alignment changes. Not a big difference. However, it is not a good drift car.
it does work! I don't have video, sadly. A couple things though. Watch out for the diff gears. They are not designed to really take that much torque. Also, you will need more power. It will drift with rubber tires - like you see here. But to really get the car to kick around with that extra traction surface, it will need more power.
@@RoadsideRC also with the diff gears in consideration I was thinking running the dynamite slicks. They slide good on my 4wd but still have just enough traction. Thats all on asphalt.
Thanks for the info was just asking this in chat on line I just brought a redcat thunder drift I’m super new to rc world I have no clue on how to mod this thing lol would love to see a different body on it but anyway I just subscribed your awesome thanks
Glad to hear it!! Thank you! I have made a few suspension tweaks to the car, but otherwise it is still stock. Eventually, the brushed motor will burn up. I plan to put a brushless setup in it when I do, but figure that is a little while away yet.
@@RoadsideRC I highly recommend an OC day They make a 12 turn in a 9 turn that I know of we have a couple of than 9 turns and a got my dad slash up to 40 on 2S

Very cool test brother, it was interesting to see how each option effected the drivability 🏎💨👍🏼 Nicely done Troy
Thanks 👍
I was literally getting a bunch of questions around it, so just decided to go for it.
The Redcat with the rubber tires was surprisingly fun!
Ohh man looks ace!! I'd love that garage space for a drift track, stay safe buddy 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Agree - I am very lucky to have this space.
That was cool test. I figure the MST would be more controllable since it is RWD

I use rubber tyres too on my drift chassis when I want to just have fun outside on regular parking lot surface.
Yes! I really enjoy it with my AWD car, but the RMX gearbox is all plastic...it has stripped gears on me.
Nice test both cars handled well with the rubber tires 👍👊
Thanks 👍
That is really the basic question people would ask - can I make my drift car into a touring car. Answer: yes/kinda! :)
Nice video excelent test , i have a redcat thunder drift what i did was take of the front belt to make it rwd and i works fine for drifting
That is on my to-do list to try!

If you drift with rubber tires on a stickier surface, then you might strip a gear. I purposely only did this on my slick garage floor for that reason.
