  • The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) hosts the DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals 2015 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Twenty-five teams from around the world enter their autonomous robot designs to compete for a two million dollar grand prize. The goal for each robot is to accomplish a series of tasks that could aid response efforts during man-made or natural disasters. Video by Staff Sgt. Robert Harnden | Defense Media Activity - Riverside | Date: 06.06.2015

      +Jake Barrett Thank you. They are showing this slow one to get you used to the idea. You are right as much as our govt. lies and hides things from us don't think they don't have faster ones because they do.

      I believe we already have people on mars and can time travel, jump dimensions etc. They want to keep the masses focused on American idol and super bowl bull shit meanwhile they are planning our demise. Look at the iPhone how stupid it makes everyone, I dont even have a cell phone.

    And it only took half an hour to get there. Unfortunately, the person it comes to save would probably be dead by the time it actually got to them. If it takes so much work just to walk, how would it ever bring anyone back?

    why do the robots have to be 2 legged? Some say that this robot challenge was spurred by the need to have a robot for the cleanup of the Fukushima disaster. Whats wrong with 3 legs or 4? Whats wrong with rotating Wheels that can be used to climb stairs and irregular terrain?

    • @KaltatheNobleMind
      @KaltatheNobleMind 7 років тому

      human-shaped machines can traverse human-shaped environments better. though I think they had a centaur-like quadruped and a droid who could fold its legs down and use its joints as wheels so not all of them are strictly bipedal:D

    • @danpt2000
      @danpt2000 7 років тому

      so smaller the better, if it was size of small dog, with arms extending, would be better than human form.

    • @KaltatheNobleMind
      @KaltatheNobleMind 7 років тому

      danpt2000 eh maybe. i think the centaur still fell like the rest (though that can just be for faulty progrmming rather than unsound structure) and Boston Dynamics (the guys behind Atlas) fitted one of the Big Dog quadropeds with an arm for a head. unsure how well it worked.

    Painfully slow, not unsupported enough, and too bulky to be practical beyond the unexceptional jobs that many don’t want to lose.
    Why not start by building around the human body before turning whatever comes out of that into a proper droid? The human then can guide its behavior, general movement and task management before the first fully autonomous ones are built.
