  • This is part two of my three part series of making this 3 zipper pocket sweet little bag. The tricky part of this bag was trying to figure out the side pieces...the more I made the Better I became! This is NOT a beginner beginner project, but if each step is followed carefully, a confident beginner can do it! Stay tuned for Part three when I install the zipper and final binding.

    Babble away! I could hang out with you all day long! I've made a similar bag and spent a good part of my day making a bag like this. You've made it sound so much easier. I'm going to try making a bag again. They are so much fun to make.

    To eliminate the bulk between the pocket near the zipper is an easy fix.
    In between each pocket Mark the center. On either side of that line mark a little less quarter of an inch then you take those two lines to bring them together and sew a pleat about 3/4 of an inch tall away from the zipper.
    Thank You I enjoy your tutorials. You provide so much help. I always find myself killing my sons to look at what he's doing first to see if there's an easier way. I make sure to tell him to work smarter not harder. This is one of the things I enjoy about you and your tutorials. ie. Your bias tape binding I actually have used that method on a few items thank you. I appreciate your time.

    I love this pouch and have made a few now for presents which have been well recieved. I however made a boo boo with mine and put the side pieces on upside down. I wondered why it was harder to do than the way you did yours lol. However I dont have the puckers in between the inner zipper bags. The second one I did the way you have and tbh they both work. Another great tutorial and I really like the way you "babble" as it makes it more fun and adds the human side to a tutorial. Thanks Jean from Michelle in Toowoomba Queensland, Australia.

    I need to do this. Also, during my live this past Friday, someone joined and told me I talked too much. Probably not the best response, but i said they could turn the volume down or leave. Same advice here. If folks don’t want to hear, they can skip ahead. ;)

      I don't get people. There are SO many blogs, tutorials, videos out there, appealing to all sorts of different folks. If one or the other doesn't necessarily appeal to me, it takes me about a nano second to keep on scrolling and looking elsewhere. Never in my wildest dreams, would I ever take the time or energy to actually make a negative comment or berate that person's style! Perhaps because we are nice people Becca!! LOL! Some just aren't!! Sad...

      Ahh well. Seriously, scroll on by. If someone is rambling but you still want to watch, skip ahead a bit. Personally, spending A LOT of time going over something that I don’t understand allows my mind to digest what the heck i need to do. I appreciate your style, Jean! And so do more than 30,000 other people!

    I’m excited to try this. On your 3rd part, could you write out the cutting sizes at the beginning for the larger one like you did for Part 1? That would be helpful to prep all the pieces ahead of time as I sew following along the tutorial. Thank you for all you do and for your delightful personality which brightens each day I watch you. Blessings!

    I actually love 😍 the bags made out of lots of fun bright colors 👍🏼 I love the big bags you are making now 😍 the only thing you said they’re not closed on the ends . I’m going to make one for my sewing 🧵 and quilting stuff do you think that stuff will fall out of it? I’m also going to make one of m 18 year old granddaughter for her makeup 💄 and I will also make one for my daughter she doesn’t wear makeup 💄 so I’ll ask her 1st if she could use it . You said that people say you talk too much I don’t agree I enjoy it because it’s like sitting down and talking to a friend. I do have to say I really like how you explain things it’s easy to follow 👍🏼. Jean can you please show us how to make the bigger bag you just made ♥️

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  4 роки тому +1

      The smaller ones your things will absolutely not fall out. I'm working on the larger ones to try and get the side flaps taller so they too, are completely enclosed. Thanks so much for watching! Our daughter Melea (25) loves these bags! I think your granddaughter would too!:)

    So if I mark the side pieces then The pleats won't be there? I think I got lost somewhere along the way. I guess I'm going to buy my zippers and see if it makes sense as I'm sewing it. Thank you for this tutorial cuz honestly I wouldn't even attempt this without it.

      Marking the side bits at the half way fold, and then 2 1/2" in each side from that marking, will give you the wrap around needed to go around the raw edged pockets. Hope this helps:)

    Jean do you ever find that your fabric (on the shelves behind you) fades along the folds facing outwards? 25 yrs ago I sadly learnt that I can't display my fabric like that. It has to be behind closed doors.

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  4 роки тому

      I have been displaying my fabrics on shelving like this for about 15 years now. No fading, but I attribute that to a solar control/uv ray protection window film that my husband has installed on the windows in this sewing studio and in my last one. If we didn't have it, yes, the suns' rays could bleach out my fabric Big Time!!

  • @modhatter113
    @modhatter113 4 роки тому

    Jean. I agree with you and prefer it a bit larger, but I have a question. Couldn't you increase the size of the inside zipper pockets to add some space in the zipper pouch as long as you are making the outside larger? (as long as your experimenting)
