Jean, whatever you do, never stop talking! That's why we're here, and that's what makes you, YOU! Love the bag tutorials. Keep going! 💕
You're the best Dusty!:) I couldn't stop talking even if you gagged me!! LOL! LOL!
Thank you Jean for another chat and tutorial, you are a breath of fresh air ☘️
Oh thank you Vivienne! I try to remain positive (no t be confused with 'blissfully happy')....rather than dwell on the negatives that surround us! :)

Oh thank you Carolin! If we take ourselves too seriously, well, where's the fun in that/!?! LOL!
You are absolutely right! It's about our family and health! You keep me inspired in many ways...My husband was diagnosed with cancer the same week quarantine started. You helped me through all this craziness!
Oh no...I'm so sorry! How terrible. If it's not one thing its another! Hopefully treatment can help and he will be okay! Sending hugs your way! 6 foot apart, but warm hugs nevertheless!!!
Thanks for such a lovely visit with you in your studio. You always brighten my day. So happy to hear that the family break for a day re-energized you all and that you all are feeling better. @@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory You have such a wealth of knowledge and folks get wrapped up in your stories so easily. It's a no brainer you've made it this far! I'll be honest, sometimes I come here more to listen to what's going on in your life than the tutorials!
LOL! My stories....I have SOOOOOOO many stories....having 10 kids...some would make your hair stand on end!! LOL!
I always feel like I'm having a great visit with a dear friend.
Aw thanks Melissa! I'll go and put the kettle on!! :)

You are a sweetie Brigitte! Thank you again and again:)
Those were awesome ideas that Carmen and Karen shared 👍🏼 and Jean I too love the zipper on your purse 👜 with the openings on both sides of the zipper better 👍🏼. I actually love when you talk a lot because it feels like when friends get together and share life so keep doing it ♥️. And that’s a cute story about how your son got you started on You Tube 😍 I really appreciate you and I’m so happy that I came across your channel I always look forward to your next video ♥️
Wasn't it a great idea?!?! Why didn't I think of that! Can't wait till the thrift shops open up again!! :) Thanks so much Nana Mary Ann for taking time to watch me:)

I'm a card maker not a quilter but I still like to see what your making and listening to you.... I have not gone to any craft store or ordered online I make 2 or more cards at day so my supplies in my craft room is a lot.....thank you for sharing yourself with all of us.
You are a 'card maker'....as a Quilter I get LOADS of inspiration from Cards!!! LOL!
I thoroughly enjoy ALL your videos and sharing parts of your life with us :)
Thank you so much!
Jean, you are such a delight to watch 😊 thank you for the extremely helpful tips , the bag is going to be great 👍
Oh thank you Heather! We shall see.....if it ever gets done!!! LOL! LOL!
You make me smile every time I watch your videos. Your joyful outlook on life is greatly appreciated. I learn so much from your tutorials and I always enjoy looking at your fabric collection.
I'm so glad Paula! It's nice to make people relax and smile:)
Brilliant video. I enjoy hearing about your day and what's going on with your family. Love your idea for little bits of the bag tutorial at a time too. I am following along with a velvet fabric curtain sample that I found in a charity shop. I'm going to keep my eye on your shop as I have my eye on the carousel horse. That will make a fab looking bag. My daughter has her 1st baby 10th November. What an unusual baby shower gift to fill up with goodies. No pressure Jean lol. Glad to see everyone is well and doing great. Take care xxx
Hi Annie!! Congrats on the new baby coming! How exciting!! The carousel fabric is so cute..I've had it forever!!! Watch this space:) LOL!
You know, you really are a pleasure!!
Aw thanks so much Mary! I appreciate that:)
Hi Jean . Well it's10pm and I'm watching and giggling with you. I just want to say I Love You.
You make me feel good. I pray for all of you and good things for you and your family. God Bless you all .
Good morning Jo! Thank you so much and I do hope you are staying safe and healthy!! :)
Jean, you are a True Love❤️
Aw, I see what you did there!! LOL!
Very good ideas to get used bag handles
Yes they are Mary! I'm grateful for those suggestions!!
Love our talks! Thank you for being yourself. Amazing 30K subscribers! Congratulations! On the way to 100K!
Thank you so much!! I know...I am utterly gobsmacked!! :) And thrilled of course;)
Thanks for the box corner lesson! Wanted to mention that you, and many others refer to "thumbs up" the video - for months I didn't know what that meant because I was watching on a smart TV where that wasn't an option. My granddaughter explained to me I had to be on a mobile device. I still watch on TV, but pull out my phone to "thumbs up or comment. Maybe you could mention that now and then, could be others are unaware also.
Awesome, thank you Becky! I will be sure to mention that on my next video! Thanks for the heads up:)
Good morning from sunny Wales UK. So glad to see and hear how upbeat you are and congratulations on your 30,000 subscribers. We have builders around for a while fixing our conservatory so I am saving the tutorials and going to work on them at a later date. Meanwhile I can listen to your chats over breakfast. Take care all. 😊
Thank you! You too Margaret! My in-laws had the most glorious of conservatories where they lived in Norwich...I miss those sunny rooms so much! All the best!! :) And thanks for taking precious time to watch me:)
So my entire family has been watching your videos these past few days!! We notice some very interesting things in what you say!! 😉 So nice to see family in the faith! Ready for convention?? 💕
AH!!! You see what I did there!?!?!? LOL! LOL! Yes, what about our conventions....wah wah.....So sad! I've been a witness my entire life...never has ANYTHING like this ever happened! Talk about critical times ~ and yes, VERY hard to deal with!! But the future is SO bright and wonderful...just have to get through this old system in one piece!!! :) Love you guys! Thanks for taking time to watch! :)
30,000 subscribers, Yea!!! but I'm not surprised. You are a lovely woman with a pleasant voice and so very interesting; I just love your stories and chats. ...I'll be here when you hit 100,000..
Wow, thank you Shirley! I must tell our kids that someone finds me pleasant and interesting!! LOL! Oh about my stories...with 10 kids we have SOOOOO many stories!!! (Some would make your hair stand on end!!! ) LOL! LOL!

@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory I truly believed that.
I love the chit chat as well! You are so delightful! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I hope you do them when you want and not stress out about making them. We can watch the re-runs!
Oh thank you Laura! I'm not going to stress myself out....when they get done, they get done!!
The info on the construction of the bag was much appreciated Jean, thank you. Off now to watch the next section x
Glad it was helpful!
Jean, even with the problems you had with that zipper, you made more sense to me than several other tutorials I watched by doing a search for tote bag tutorials with a recessed zipper! Two of the ones I came across showed how to prepare the zipper but not how it was attached or even showed what the zipper part of the tote looked like after it was finished. And this was after I waded through 55 minutes of only zipper assembly! So thank you! It all makes sense now, finally! 🙃😊 ( Hope I’m not getting cranky in my ‘old age’... lol)☺️
Aw thanks for letting me know that!! That makes me happy Kay:)
Love your chats and your instructions!!❤️
Glad you like them Grace! I do go on and on, but get there in the end:)
I just love your stories!! You are always so happy.
Thank you so much Pat! It's not about being 'happy' all the time...trust me...I get VERY down at times...but it's about TRYING to remain POSITIVE in the light of so much sorrow that surrounds us!! I try!! Thanks for listening to my stories:)
Jean your videos make my day each and every time you do one. Thank you for doing these. Congratulations on your 30 thousand subs. God bless you and your precious family my friend.
Thank you so much Vera! (by the way, I like your new 'name'!! )
Jean Truelove thanks. MySon and I are going to start a UA-cam channel. We’ve already have two videos ready. But I’m going today and get my hair cut then I’m going to do one introducing ourselves. It’s just documenting our journey here. He’s moved his camper here until his house gets built. It’s going to be fun. Thane care sweet friend and God bless y’all.
Oh! Super! I don't know what is more exciting for you...your videos OR your hair cut!! LOL! All the best!! :)

I agree about the zipper. Thank you for showing us both. I am new at bag making. I have made 7 all the same but like the look of your two you are showing. Both the Taylor Ed and the softer looking bags. Good job.
Wonderful! Thank you Addie:)
would love to see a tutorial on your 5 diamond quilt one day. when you were packing everything up to move you showed us one of those quilts and it was beautiful. And you just keep being you!
Thank you Emanuel! It's funny, I JUST pulled out several of my 5 diamond quilts and thought to myself, "I must do a tutorial on these...because it is my GoTo pattern for a quick and easy quilt". And so when I regroup, I shall! Watch this space:) And thanks again for appreciating me:)
Please do.

Great ideas on reusing and recycling! 🤗💋
Thank you so much Pam!! Yea...the extra money would certainly help!! I do get a small amount from my UA-cam videos, but only AFTER they take a fairly large cut!!!! Oh well....this system of things, right/!?!? LOL! Thanks for taking precious time to watch me:)

Hi Jean! Congrats on 30K subscribers!! Love your energy and chats, like chatting with one of my gal pals! During this crazy pandemic I've been binge watching your videos and have learned so much! Thank you! To you and your family, Stay well!
Thank you so much!! Take care and have a lovely day:)
You make me feel so much better after listening to you. Makes one not feel so alone. My husband and I always say ...together alone. Michigan is pretty much total lock down too. We go to the campus where my husband is a professor, I should say was as of March, and walk. Absolutely no one on the grounds .... eerie to say the least. I don't look to have the university open for a long time. God bless you and yours Jean. Hugs to Maxwell.
You can say that again...eerie!! Strip malls empty (except grocery stores!) but roads crowded! Where is everyone going?!?! LOL! Hope you have a lovely day Myra:)
Jean you made me laugh so much today! You're just down to earth! I don't know if you mentioned or another UA-cam sewer said they got the dog straps from Dollar Tree to use for straps. You wrap your fabric around and sew together. And yes those 2 strap handles ideas were great!
Oh I must get there...as soon as things open up here!! Thanks for the suggestions!:)
I love your chit chat at the beginning. I may not always be interested in or stay for the tutorial, but I always tune in for the first part just for the conversation! Like others have said, It's like visiting a friend. Thanks Jean!
Oh thank you for tuning in Maegan!! I appreciate it ~ however long you listen!!
Thanks once again for an entertaining chat. I love your videos and play them while I'm sewing. I find the tone of your voice soothing. I laughed when you said you were sick of your own cooking. We rarely get takeaway as we live out of town. Last week I said to hubby we should get fish and chips for something different because in 8 weeks I'd cooked every meal. So anyhow the upshot of the takeaway was dismal. It was great going down but later that evening we were both sick. Obviously too much for our systems after 8 wks of purely wholesome food. Have to laugh!! Btw I'm in Australia....we say takeaway not takeout.
Soothing?!?! LOL! I MUST tell my kids that!! I think they find it annoying!! LOL! LOL! Thank you so much!! I really thought we would get that 'take out sick feeling' after our chinese (like you ~ only eating healthy food for SOOO long..LOL) but we didn't!! It went down a treat!!! :)
Hello Jean,
I made my mother n law a pillow out of that carousel fabric. I guess some fabric in my stash is kinda old too.😃
Picking bright colorful fabric just means you don't take life too seriously n you like to have fun. That's why people like you so much. I enjoy the talk. Haven't picked my fabric yet, but I will. I want to make 2 bags. 1for my daughter, n 1 for me. I have everything I need except the handles. I have rings to put in the loops n can get handles later.
U try so hard to please everyone. That is so thoughtful n kind, but don't let it stress you. When I don't feel like cooking I just ask Michael what he's making us for dinner. Or since he cooks on the grill, I thaw hamburger or london broil. I've also made so much that leftovers are a guarantee for the following night.
Gotta go pick material n get caught up with everyone.
From Lisa
So you KNOW just how old this fabric is!! I don't get rid of anything!! LOL!
Funny ,my husband picked up a couple of burgers from a local restaurant, they were sooo good. I’m tired of making meals 24/7 myself! Love the Blue bag!
LOL! Seriously....I'm SOOOO fed up with cooking!!! And we really DON'T eat out a lot...but man, throw me a burger anyday!!!
Thanks for sharing Jean. I’m gonna try this soon.
Hope you enjoy!
Oh my goodness 30,000 subscribers that’s so wonderful. I’m so proud to say that I was one of the first. You have taught me to so many things. I’m so glad that I found you and your 10 minute block. Besides you can talk all you want because when I’m here by myself it’s nice to hear a familiar voice. I will be so glad when all this Covid stuff is over.. Please take it slow with everything because I’m so far behind. Stay safe and healthy. All of us followers want you to keep on.
Such a loyal friend!! Thank you Merrilyn! I'm so pleased you found me too! :) Please take care!

I’m so over this lockdown, getting a little squirrelly, want to go back to work again but they may be closing...another job hunt, ugh. Maxwell most certainly does miss the ‘routine’ he was used to. At least he is getting his red sneakers! Yup, we are all ‘shopping’ in our stash, being creative with what we’ve got. Enjoying the bag creation series, Jean. Dominic got you started without your even knowing it, our kids now teaching us. 😏
I am grateful to Dominic to get the ball rolling...but when I look back on those first few videos, I cringe!! Well, sometimes I cringe when I edit one of my Latest videos!! LOL! LOL!
miss jean,I can;t wait till the fabric stores open so I can buy my first fabric pannel, and this will be my first time to install a zipper,
Wonderful! Follow along and we will get there in the end!! :) LOL!
Put the kettle on. Jean & I will be in the sewing studio!
My tea is a blend of British Blend and Earl Gray! :)
Congratulations on 30,000 subscribers!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Your bag is going to be beautiful, love the black and blue, so pretty! I think the interfacing is being used up in masks. I tried some in one for myself but I get too panicky wearing it, it’s harder to breathe through the interfacing. It gets so hot here in California that I figure I will only keep it on with the two layers of cotton fabric so that’s what I made our masks out of. Totally agree with you on the cooking, I’m so tired of it. My husband loves eating out so he’s picked up Chinese for us too. We went on a drive through/eat in the car “date” the other day. My favorite Mexican restaurant has a drive thu thankfully! So glad Maxwell is getting his red shoes. Tell him we want him to show us when they come 😁 take care! So glad you’re feeling better!
Thanks Sondra! Gotta love a good chinese takeout!! Hopefully he will 'model' his new shoes! He was SOOO excited!! :)
You’re awesome I feel like I’ve known you for years
Mind you...I rattle on and on for what seems like YEARS!! LOL LOL! Thanks Sylvia:)
Stay well ,Jean.
We are trying to!:) You too Loraine:)
Hi Jean, Just wanted to let you know that I made this tote bag and I have had so many complaments on it. I always tell the people that I watched Jean Truelove video on how to make it. I tell them that you are from Pennsylvania. Friday my better half and I were in Jamestown N.Y.. We went to Cummings & Diesel factory. Have a Happy Thanksgiving with the Family.
Aw thanks so much Carol:) I appreciate that:)
Jean...I just love your videos. I must say you have a calming effect...takes my mind off of life...lol. I laugh out loud when you make off the wall comments...butt ugly bags. Also it was one of your videos where you made something to carry some small items in I think...you describe it as....make it for your pill poppin friends. Do you remember that one? I've been hooked every since. Love you!
A 'calming effect'?!?!? Oh wow!! Gotta tell my kids that!! LOL! LOL! And yes, sometimes I SAY what other people are THINKING!! LOL! LOL! Open mouth~ Insert Foot!! LOL! Thanks for watching me Jackie;)
Wow, this was a great video! 3 things I want to say:
1. You gained over 300 subscribers since your last video. I noticed because someone had mentioned you were almost there, so I looked. Not bad for a few days, huh?
2. I really enjoyed the story of how you got started doing UA-cam videos! I never heard that one before because I didn’t find you till 2018. Now I want to go back and watch those earlier videos, lol.
3. Wow, I never realized, never really thought about it, that the bigger the seam allowance when boxing the corners affects the depth of the bag and can make it bigger with a deeper seam allowance. It’s counter intuitive, because usually the bigger the seam allowance, the smaller something turns out. I wrongly thought the depth depended solely on the size of the square you cut. I really appreciate this lightbulb 💡 moment! BUT, on the other hand, it makes sense, because when boxing the corners, the fabric slants away from the corner to become bigger. AND you saved us all a lot of wasted fabric because you demonstrated two different sizes plus two different seam allowances so we could learn from your samples so we didn’t need to duplicate the experiment.
I really appreciate that! Keep up the good work! 🌸🌹🌼🥀🌻🌺💐🌷
So pleased you watch! And also, I forgot to mention that the larger the bottom the more the 'top' of the bag will flare out...so if you cut just a one inch square (to make a two inch bottom), the top would be straighter.
Jean, you know what? I just realized what I said I thought wasn’t entirely accurate. I’ve done boxed corners both ways: 1. Cutting a square out of the corner (I also use this method for fitted crib sheets, and yes, size of seam allowance does affect the size of depth). 2. The method where you don’t cut the square, but match up the side and bottom seams and sew perpendicular to those and trim off the excess. On method 2 where you sew the seam (how far up from the corner) obviously does affect the depth of the project.
But I guess what threw me is using methods 1, and THEN changing the seam allowance size, like you did here, it was hard to get my head around it because I usually plan my project, decide how big the seams will be, and THEN decide how big of squares to cut out, taking into consideration to subtract my seam allowances. For example, if I’m going to French the seams, it might be 1/2” seam allowance, and if not, 1/4” seam allowances. I know bag makers often use 1/2” seams, though.
All that being said, I guess if you box your corners and find out the depth of the bag isn’t big enough, all you have to do is take a bigger seam allowance until you get to the depth you like. That REALLY IS A GOOD TIP!
Note: The bigger the depth you take, the shorter (top to bottom) the bag will become.
Congrats on your 30k.
Thank you so much 😀Lucy:) Can you believe it?!/?!!
Nice, Jean
Thanks Jed:)
Jean I had to laugh about the food thing I totally get it. I make quick at home takeout here are 2 of my go to's that are easy, The first one is cheese steaks using a london broil thinly sliced it literally takes minutes if you have all the ingredients. The other is pizza... I know homemade pizza? But I found a really good pizza dough recipe it's Bobby Flays recipe after the dough is made the pizza takes less than 1/2 an hour. Not quite takeout but quick and easy. Say hi to Maxwell and no need to apologize this time is stressful for everyone. You have a great day.
I'm having a real love/hate relationship with our kitchen right about now....I graze, and nibble, and chow down, and scoff and pick, and shove and eat like there is no tomorrow, but I DON'T WANT TO COOK ANYMORE!!!!!!!! LOL! LOL! Your ideas are good ones however....I will try!:)
Jean you look lovely in that colour by the way.
Aw thanks Pamela:)
If the handles just clip on you could remove them and wash on gentle cycle in the washing machine.
Perhaps, but I'm not sure I would do that....I prefer to spot clean to keep the pristine/crispness of the fabric bag.
Jean, you are hilarious! I would love to be neighbors. But you'd probably have to kick me out of the house b/c I'd be over all the time!! LOL :)
Aw, I'll go and put the kettle on:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory I love your accent. We have friends from Pottstown and you sound just like her. Her husband is from Pittsburgh- a slightly different accent.
I love watching your videos and if we ever get out so I can buy some supplies I'd love to start making some of them. I love all the store bought handles. Where do you normally find all your bag supplies? I have a Hobby Lobby pretty near me that I'm hoping carries some of these. Love your down to heart chats.
You can do it Nanci! I got my handles from Joann Fabrics but a Hobby Lobby JUST opened up near us in January ~ however I only went in once and then it was closed due to the virus!!! :/ But I imagine they would have the handles...they seem to have EVERY craft in the book! But remember to check out thrift stores for those 'butt ugly' bags (but with fabulous handles!) LOL! Thanks for taking time to watch :)
Jean I have request if you can do tutorial on Lady Diana’s popular quilted bag. If you google you’ll find it easy. I really wanna make that bag and use it. Main colors of it are blue and white printed. It’s really pretty and Lady Di is wearing it make it more prettier 😊
I looked it up and I remember it well!! It sort of looks like a 'Liberty of London' print, if I'm not mistaken. Or maybe a 'Laura Ashley'. If you got a pretty blue/rosy print you could border it with another white/rose print and copy it! I was Shattered when she died....was glued to the TV for a week....the saddest week......:/
Jean Truelove yes I remember that day well watching it and was very sad and shocked. I will try that bag myself soon 👍🏻
You are likely making people salivate hearing you talk about Chinese food. I am lucky...hubby is a great cook and since I am working he is doing the cooking. Which Juki model do you have....the last day I was out before covid I was trying out Juki machines.
I just love my JUKI TL2200OVP mini, Karen! I love Brother machines (I have the big Brother VQ3000 Dream Weaver machine which does everything but wash the dog...(and there probably is a button for that!! ) LOL! I also have had 4 Husqvarnas....love them as well! But my latest Love is this mechanical straight stitch JUKI!! :)
Maybe use spray starch on the fabric to stiffen it.
A must!! :)
Hi Jean you may remember that I do like to leave you positive comments on your videos about your tutorials and family life videos and today I would like to tell you how much I like what you wear. I really love the fabrics of your tops and their style. Do you sew your own clothes or are they store bought,?
Aw thanks Anna! I DO remember! And you are very kind! I don't make my tops, just get them at either Ross, or TJ Maxx or online (Amazon) or if I have the money, at Torrid (they are pricey but have lovely things!)
Buy needles for leather.
We wash EVERYTHING down with bleach water. Sad, but what can you do. Love to all.
Such a sorry state of affairs this....but you are right, we must....:/ Thanks Christina:)
How large is your cutting mat? where did you buy it?
I bought it from Martelli Enterprises in Florida. www.martellinotions.com/large-color-contrasting-mat-26x38.html
That is a beautiful outfit you're wearing. Did you make it?
Thank you! No I didn't make it:)
