Honestly, Conor. The limbs in the swim and the stride length. ;) That's as an absolute. The levers for a gentle 3.5km/h in the sploosh and mandables for marathon running if he trained for them... the guy can punch out Watts on a climb when trained up. But he also seems really aware of overcooking so for a measured overall effort...
I loved the humor GCN guys brought to the show. Maybe GTN switching roles and doing a GCN challenge or get the Mountain bike channel doing a duathlon but Xtera style? Looking forward to seeing Si doing a triathlon
Duathlons are such an underrated event. For me, they're much easier to train for since I don't need to travel to a pool and only need to fit two sports worth of training into a week. Duathlons fit into a busy schedule and are a really simple way to motivate a cyclist like myself to run. Love them!
Yet the swimming is the one which is for me personally THE perfect sports to challenge me, yet also THE perfect sports which is not such a harsh tall on my body.
19:31 for a 5k for "non runners"!!! That's very impressive!! There are not that many people breaking the 20 min mark for a 5k. I guess their VO2Max is still quite high compared to the "normal" population. Congrats guys! Is there a way I can like this video 10 000 times so we can see Si do a triathlon? 😁
Alex and Si have to have pretty rad legs for it too. My VO2 max cycling according to my Garmin is top 1% for women my age, and Garmin estimates I could do a 5k in like... 23mins (small woman with short legs, that would be nice). I can consistently do 30mins 5k running, while not training running regularly, but cycling daily. My legs just aren't used to the running motion to go faster yet. Plus it is *so* sweaty... lol.
WOW! Nice work Si and Alex! I’m a little annoyed/jealous that you 2 who are not runner can do 4min/K. I would love to see you 2 train and do a triathlon. I’m going to make a few more accounts to help bump the likes to 10k 🤣
Totally jealous. I am a cyclist who I'd have to say DOES run. Not a proper duathlete but run at least once or twice a week. And I do NOT break 20 minutes for a 5k except in rare and exceptional race conditions. Ridiculous that people who don't run just turn up and do 19.30 !!
For "not running", Alex is fast! Si is a decent runner, too. If Alex put in some run training, he might move to the front of the group in these duathlons. Can he swim?
Was a brilliant surprise to see you guys there ... I really enjoyed my race and now I can say I've beaten the GCN/GTN guys at a race! 😂😂 I'm sure you weren't taking it too seriously (although your bike speed was incredible) but it was a bonus to see you all joining in with us regular athletes 😁👍👏👏
