you gotta give hank credit. Ollie will always be my fav. presenter (not only for memes haha) but hank seems like the guy who is always right at the frontline for everything. he accepts every challenge and always goes all in. from red hook krit to that one time he almost killed his manlyhood on that penny farthing and literally any other challenge he did over the years.
Here in Belgium we have the Hel van Kasterlee duathlon. Amazing race in wintertime! 16km trailrun, 100km mountainbike ride and finish with a 30km run during the end of november in the Kempen.
@@MrTuubster I feel like I will never win a race ahahah sooo the prize money wouldn't be of my concern. Being it a free event is good but it seems to me like torture... that's it. 100km on MTB is insane on its own in my head.
It was a little very unfair on Manon. Why because Manon transition on the 1st race, was tens and tens seconds faster than Hank and Alex. Meaning Hank and Alex had a massive advantage over Manon (because they could gain 10 and 10 of seconds in the transition bit) to Manon Hope you get that.
What a lovely video! I'm very much looking forward to one including the swim as well. And poor Manon, slow cadence and landing straight on her heels. I think Heather needs to give her some running lessons. Also: when will one of them realise that you transition faster without socks?
The idea of triathlon was always not so interesting to me because of the swimming part, but when i searched for duathlon, to my big surprise, that was a legit thing. I love that i get to see this on gtn. So cool
A few years ago, there is a HIITs video where Heather makes Hank suffer and now she's roped in Manon and Alex!! Absolutely love it. GTN should do a post race interview one day later - the GCN crew ran approximately 6 km at race pace on pavement with no prior running training, so their legs will be extremely sore the next day from the pounding (and for a few days after). As GTN knows, this is the critical point to avoid running injuries (just ask Dan). At this point you can't distinguish between good pain (ie simple muscle soreness due to interval training the previous day) and bad pain (Achilles tendons, shin splints, hamstring pulls, knee pain, etc.). But fear not, the GCN crew likely will not run the next day nor during the next months as they are not triathletes or runners and cycling (their main sport) will likely not exasperate any cronic running injuries.
Love this. All three should all go for triathlons. Though Manon should concentrate on the sprint distances, since she is a sprinter. And Hank and Alex for 70.3. I think they would do well and get some variation to their training.
Awesome. Maybe doing some duathlon relay, where teams of 2 are created mixing both GCN and CTN members, so you could concentrate on each event, like member one goes first running, then member two goes for the biking, then member one goes for the biking and finally member two goes for the running. Its a modified version of a duathlon, but each member could compite once in every event, so the burden is less. Keep creating great content and crossovers s always. Cheers.
Manon had a massive massive disadvantage. Manon time in the transition in the first race (was 10 and 10 seconds quicker) Meaning Alex and Hank could improve there times (for each transition) by 10 and 10 seconds, to Manon. Thought very harsh on Manon.
Love these crossover vids, everyone is so competitive! Amazed that Hank didn’t win - first time for everything. Feel for Manon but not sure why Hank got left hanging with the fist bump - ouch!!
K Stethespokes So do I feel for Manon, Manon was penalised for having such a fast transition in the 1st race. Hank and Alex were rewarded for by 10 and 10 seconds for having such a slow transition in the first race. K Stethespokes It’s like saying (I’m a 50 seconds faster runner than you for 5km) you have a 20 seconds better transition time than me. So you have a 30 seconds head start on me, I’m a 50 seconds better runner than you. Already I’m having a advantage, and plus I’ve been told I’m slow in the transition bit (so I would want to improve that by 10 and 10 seconds, then told Manon didn’t change her trainers. Meaning I could copy that, saving me 10 and 10 more seconds. I hope you understand that, felt for Manon, as Hank and Alex had a unfair advantage.
@@andyclark8991 I have read every single reply from you in this video and I still don't understand what you are saying. What does 10 and 10 seconds mean in English? How is this a penalty? They took longer to transition since they changed their shoes but they caught up by running faster for longer.

Andy and Hank second transition time couple/few seconds. Saving Andy and Hank 10’s and 10’s seconds on Manon. Especially as Andy and Hank were told to copy Manon with putting trainers on. It’s like saying Manon transition bit cost her 4 to 5 seconds, and Andy and Hawk transition bit (on 1st challenge) cost them 25 seconds Saving them 20 seconds. In the transition bit you can quickly and much much more easier save time (by 10’s of seconds) than when your flat out running or on the bike flat out (SNK038) Giving them a unfair advantage, to have made to fair, Andy and Hawk needed to have spent the same amount of time in the 2nd transition bit to the 1st transition bit. (Ie, first transition bit) 25 seconds, second transition bit (4/5 seconds) Andy and Hawk should have spent the same amount of time in the transition bit (that there did for the first one) Can’t be more simple than that.
Now same with bike&run format. Meaning two people teams move one bike some distance and the winner is the team, which get the bike and both members across the line first. The one who rides and the one who runs and when they switch is completely up to the team.
Really enjoyed that, just wish I was quite a bit younger, fitter and lighter so I could do all those things again! Drying myself off after the swim, stopping for something to eat on the ride etc etc :D Please get these three back for a tri when the pool's open, and the hosts could join in too :D
I like these collaborations with the GCN presenters. On races I’m like Manon; when it’s cold I wear long sleeves and prefer to be comfortable. I know some people would say what about the drag but I race for fun and the drag would not make a big difference on my times.
👍👍👍👍 Totally inspirational. I'm gonna mix duo training with my routine. Once a month for sure. I'm a cyclist and although I despise running, a little is good for my overall fitness as well as my legs cause I recruit different muscles. Great video. Thanks.

Used to love duathlons in my younger days. Now a duathlon is as hard to find as a unicorn. Triathlons are still plentiful but I found it challenging enough finding time to just train for two disciplines.
Great and entertaining video! It got me thinking I would quite appreciate a video how to get through the first (and likely for a while also last) triathlon, if you are a current cyclist racing with the performance level already kind of sorted out and 'only' needs some drills to make it through the water, the transitions as quickly as possible (ok, this point had been already discussed in this video) and then through the run without too much of training specific for those two non-bike disciplines.
Fun video. I was thinking that with a small track that keeping the running shoes on was the right call. Hanks competitiveness really shined especially in the second one.

Definitely seemed unprofessional. Not sure what that was all about, but it really didn't reflect well on her part.
hank should really do a triathlon probably a 70.3 that would be a really nice video episodes of training For a 70.3
On a pro cyclist transitions to triathlon he definitely has the body and the guts to do it
