- Last year, Heather took on Manon from GCN in a cycling race, which she lost - something which she has not forgotten! Earlier this year, they battled again in a duathlon, but now we want to take things back to the start for the big rematch: GTN vs GCN on the bike! Will Heather be able to get the better of Manon this time?

How about a mixed surface (road, gravel & easy single track) bike race between Anna, Manon & Heather on a course designed by James, Neill and Simon. Pretty sure that would be fairly entertaining.

Wonder Woman did it!! Love the.. ‘I’m not that fit’ after doing 90% of an Ironman with no fuel. Go Heather!! Manon.. rocked it too with only a 200k under her belt 😜 💪🏽.

tri bike positioning gives about a 4-5km /h aerodynamic advantage. They should be using the same gear.

It would be interesting to see both ladies on the same bike set-up as this video, but with Manon picking a road-favourable course with climbing, descending and tight corners.

@@lawrenceginete1030 Not really, their power outputs in this video were very similar and a road bike enables you to have a fraction more power output because of the position.
A really big factor is who is fit.
@@matthewbaynham6286 a pro cyclist is going to be much more aero on a road bike which is the biggest difference in performance. Add in the fact that Manon is/was a sprinter and you realize that she just needs to be able to draft to the end and will always win a sprint finish
Heather will win longer efforts, especially if they're unable to draft each other. Manon will beast any sprint finish or shorter effort
My friend who rode at national level told me aero tuck position alone gives 3 min advantage over 40 ITT, add in disk wheel, aero helmet and tri suit and overshoes, plus aero tri TT bike, shows less power plus aero translates to faster time of more than 1 min over 10kms.

AYYY Congrats Heather! Cool seeing how much difference of aero when power is pretty similar. I've always been impressed at the avg. speeds Tri reaches compared to TT specific racing considering with Tri there's a race beforehand and after still.
I'd be intrigued for a collab vid of GTN-GCN crew going through the differences in disciplines lets say 2hrs Tri-Road-TT.
So roughly 30min Swim, 2hr Ride, 90min Run Triathlon Vs 2hr Time Trial Vs 2hr Road stage with 1,000m of up at the end, and what that means in changes for trainings, fuelling, ideal target zones... and so on.
Gotta get Heather an aero suit. Next video: Aero suits, how much difference do they make over 50k ride (at constant pace)?

Got to do what you got to do. bravo to both Manon and Heather. Money on aero is wasted unless you have the fitness to support. I would love the whole set up of Heathers bike, including the bike for my next race but I got to stay with what I can afford and have fun at all times. Loved the video.

Impressive efforts, and equally impressive to see what a difference the aerodynamics make!
As to fitness, it is clearly a relative thing... I'm as fit as I've ever been, and Manon still beat my pb over 10k by a good minute 😃 I'll clearly have to start commuting to my gymnastics sessions on a TT bike wearing a skin suite to compensate...

I watched a film on Netflix the other day called ‘Onboard The Transcontinental Race’ and was gob smacked by the dedication of the riders, no medals or honours just the thrill of doing the race. I’d love to see someone from GCN preferably Manon do it! 😎🚴♂️😎🚴♂️

I think Manon's problem was pacing. 300W on the early section with an overall average of 217W? No one Heather came past super easy.

I'm not sure Heather could've stacked the deck better in her favour. It would be good to see TT road rig vs Tri-bike rig, roadie vs triathlete.
Get Simon versus Mark
It's a pretty silly test, yes we know aero bikes are far quicker on a flat course as drag is the biggest form of resistance. Give Manon the same kit/bike and see what happens, in theory she has less experience on a tt bike.
This should be a 6 monthly event !!
i like the friendly races, but a little disappointed that this really was not a heads up race.
Manon rocks always enjoy her vids, and watched Heather for first time attempt her Triathlon on zero food and really impressed , these ladies hard-core 💪
Put Mannon in a skin suit, areo helmet and a time trial bike and find out what happens.
This makes me wonder why I do my weekend rides on my road bike instead of my triathlon bike.
I put clip-on TT bars on my road bike and was surprised about the benefits. I don't use them as a radical change from my general riding position but use them more as an addition, e.g. when pushing myself, saving energy in a more aerodynamic position, be able to ride harder ⚙️ gears etc.
Love these cross channel events, however equipment makes a big difference, next time kit manon out in full TT kit

if it's a flatish course, W/KG has nearly no relevance. Only outright wattage output matters. The aero positioning would have accounted for almost the entire variance ~ about 4-5km/ h in aero bar position vs road bike

Watts are nice, but watts per kilogram would be more accurate. Maybe show that next time.

I'm three minutes in and both parties are saying that they've done no training, their not as fit as they used to be... I mean it's what 'everybody' says on race day. If you win great, you're way better than your peers. If you lose, well you've been doing nowt.
