Ok so my wife and I tried this exact recipe and it turned out amazing. Then we did it again with habanero sauce and mayo to duplicate a spicy chicken sandwich. Also amazing. I have learned so much from watching your videos. Don't ever change who you are and how you act. If someone doesn't like it they can leave- referring to a video you said you were saying things people didn't like. Not everyone will ever be happy. Don't lose who you are trying to please everyone.
it's been a few years since i had one, but i recall it being really peppery, and i really liked that it was. you can see the pepper flecks in the breading. if there's one thing I'd change with this recipe is to add more cracked black pepper.
as a ex-BK employee, the numbers stand for the time it was prepared. In some cases we prepare burgers ahead of time so we can stay up-to date with orders, it goes from 1 to 12 because we use intervals of 5 minutes, and the burger is thrown away whenever it has been prepared for longer then 10 minutes.
Back when I was young, I used to order the OG chicken sandwich whenever we'd go to BK. The decline on the sandwich over the years is very noticeable, especially when Sam and the boys go through the gross OG sandwich. Sam's take on the OG sandwich reminds me of how it used to be all those years ago. Great job on making me hungry guys lol!
I was working at Burger King when the Original Chicken Sandwich came out. It was incredibly delicious. But like nearly all legacy fast food joints (Hello Taco Bell) Burger King cut the quality of their products. If I had a time machine I’d go back to 1979 and get my fill.
Yep I remember these from 35 years ago. Back then they were great and the fries were good too. I don't eat fast food anymore but I still remember loving these back then
I did too. It was good and the only sandwich that didn’t have tomatoes on it. My parents wouldn’t let me pick out the tomatoes off the burger. So it was always my go to. Ha
This is also my fav from BK, and I rarely get a bad one. The special thing about the BKOCS is the seasoning of the crispy breading. It has a spice to it similar to chicken fries. Without that seasoned breading, it's just any other chicken sandwich.
I'm the one who always backs up the drive-thru an extra minute, because BK says "Have it your way" -- and I've taken this to heart. I always appreciated the OG -- partly because I never inspected the lettuce, but mainly because I always had them add cheese & tomato. I do the same thing whenever I'm feeling poor, and resort to a McChicken, when I visit the other guys It might cost me an extra buck or so, but it's just better, that way!

I can't help but smile every time you call it "garlic aioli" cause it is already named after garlic. "All-i-oli", in valencian/catalan (which we speak in the East of Spain, where the sauce comes from) means "garlic-and-oil". So "garlic allioli" means "garlic garlicandoil"

@@jacob-v8567 whenever there’s a 2 for 5 or 2 for 6, I go for those with Zesty sauce, no lettuce. I agree with the video, for lettuce it’s pretty bad and in my opinion just retracts from the flavor.

I love this sandwich and still eat it. I was a big fan of the Italian parm version when they popped up every now and then. Best thing on the BK menu besides the whopper
I made this but I used egg to bind the chicken and i used panko bread crumbs mixed with a little italian seasoning and dry chicken stock for breading. I royally screwed up by not putting them in the refrigerator lol. I did on the 2nd attempt and they came out wonderful. Instead of using your garlic sauce I used tangy slaw dressing. Next time I will make your garlic sauce because it looks freaking delicious. I use to love BK but their food in my local area has really gone downhill. The lettuce issue is the least of it. I'm glad to see others out there like you trying to make improvements so kudos to you!. Hope is not lost lol
Thank you for this! I love all your videos, and this sandwich was one of my childhood favorites as well. I am gonna make these on my next day off. I wanted to add that I was introduced to your channel by a great friend of mine. He told me that he learned to cook from you. Unfortunately, he had demons and took his own life. Whenever I see a new video of yours, I am always reminded of my buddy, and the good times.
I worked a summer at BK when I was 16. As others have mentioned, there is black pepper in the breading. Also, mayo on the crown to glue the foot lettuce down. When I worked there I'd throw cheese on top of the patty and some bacon on top of that. Fun fact: you can also get any sandwhich on the menu 'Whopper style". Guaranteed to piss of whoever is working the burger board (or specialty board, the area where the chicken sandwiches, Whalers, tenders, fries and rings are made).
In regards to the numbers : When the sandwich is wrapped a slash is put on the number coinciding with the position of the second hand on the clock 1 thru 12 are the numbers. The Sandwiches have a maximum amount of time they can sit before being sold and this is their way to help quality control.
I grew up in a very small mid-Michigan town and I was 16 when Burger King became the 2nd fast food restaurant in our town. So I applied there that summer and started working after school a few nights a week. This was 1996. I hated working there but man, I would make these sandwiches for myself to take home and I loved them. Sometimes I'd make a nice fresh one with some cheese and take it into the walk-in cooler and just smash it when we were slow. It was a much simpler time of my life...
In defense for the foot lettuce if you got it delivered or through drive through, the longer you take to eat it the longer that heat will make the lettuce even more wilted. Same for when you refrigerate it. I never eat refrigerated lettuce from fast food burgers because of this. Edit. you did mention this around the end
When the sandwich is wrapped a slash is put on the number coinciding with the position of the second hand on the clock 1 thru 12 are the numbers. The Sandwiches have a maximum amount of time they can sit before being sold and this is their way to help quality control.
Burger King has lowered their standards heavily past 4 years . Every other fast food company in my state has upped its game except BK when it comes to fresh ingredients.
Sorry, they never had a standard. I’m 54 and worked at Burger King when the chicken had just launched. Looks exactly the same with the lettuce in 2021 vs 1979 when I worked there. Get it made special “no lettuce” and for extra order it with pickles
I haven’t had good BK in a decade. Their stores are filthy around here and the food is garbage. I loved the chicken sand and the Whopper when I was young. What happened?
I always had them add a slice of cheese. Then they started charging for the cheese. So I would take it home and add my own. But the deep fried chicken always wilts the mayo & lettuce.
@@wendy833 did you ever have the one with spicy sauce instead of mayo? i used to eat a ton of those when i worked for them 6 years ago, used to be so much better
Numbers 1-12 are for the holding times at the restaurant. Fast food joints can only hold food for a certain length of time before they have to throw it out. Each number represents the clock. It a chicken sandwich can hold for 15 minutes then one with the 1 circled has to be discarded when the minute hand reaches the 4.
I worked at BK back in high school. The number is for the time that the sandwich was made. So, if I made the sammie at 1, I would mark 1. Every sandwich has an amount of time it can sit under the lamp before it has to be thrown away, so you use that marked number to determine the end of life for the sammie.
Thanks for the Corn Flakes Crumbs tip! Made Turkey burgers on my Blackstone Griddle for my wife and stepson. Used it with the seasoned patties and into the freezer for 15 minutes. Worked! The patties did not fall apart. Appreciate all the tips. And to celebrate I just bought a Fat Means Flavor shirt. Ok my birthday is this month so treated myself.
I remember the first and last time I ate one of those when I was about 7 years old in the 60's. I was on a road trip with my mom and we hadn't eaten all day and I was starving. We hit a BK and I saw one of those and wanted one just because it was big. I wolfed it down and blew chunks all over the inside of the car a few minutes later and I wasn't one of those kids who get sick easy and barf. I've yakked less than 10 times in my whole life but that one was a doosey. I don't think there was anything wrong with it, it just hit me funny for some reason but I can't stand the look of them today.
Burger King near me puts rotten lettuce on their sandwiches all the time, I've complained and complained to them several times either to the manager or the receipt survey and still to this day they still put old wilted brown lettuce on their sandwiches.
Made these. This was amazing. They are even better the next day left in the fridge overnight and heated in microwave. Taste like the real thing but better.

@Randall Johnson Oftentimes, if there’s a typo in a word like “there”, spellcheck will automatically “correct” it to whichever word it “thinks” you were trying to type. It’s not always that the typist doesn’t know which word to use, but that spellcheck doesn’t.

Thanks for recognizing the troops Sam and crew. A salute is a sign of respect and in the proper context is acceptable if done properly. Thanks for all you do and being real guys!
"Number fifteen: Burger King Foot Lettuce. The last thing you would want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get."
Burger King will now be known as “foot lettuce”
Oh no not again 😭

My favorite was always the “limited edition” Italian Chicken Sandwich
It was so good. The OG chicken sandwich is underrated.
@@jacob-v8567 whenever there’s a 2 for 5 or 2 for 6, I go for those with Zesty sauce, no lettuce. I agree with the video, for lettuce it’s pretty bad and in my opinion just retracts from the flavor.
@@TheGloriousLeader trick is to get them in the AM, they are so much more fresh.
I was salivating about that version too. Still the best.
The Italian Chicken was the best...
I live about 45 min away from little Italy
I’ve taken many trips to eat not not tacos
And this last weekend I finally went to eat at sams restaurant grace.
Words can’t do it justice
The mash potatoes flat bred is crazy I’ve never done drugs before but I imagine sams food is as close to crack as I will probably ever get.
Sliders are phenomenal everything is so well put together the environment is also very good.
I’ve met Sam a few times in person and he is the nicest guy he Always takes times and talks to everyone treats all his employees w respect and jokes around always has a smile on his face things that you just enjoy seeing very humble just a great individual .IF you ever get a chance stop at not not tacos or grace you will not be disappointed 8 out of 5 stars 🙏🙏
These were my favorite in my teenage years. I am now 44 and I will do this from now on!!
First 5 seconds. “Today we cook for Max...”
Last 5 seconds. “Sam Eats Max’s favorite childhood sandwich, reconstructed to a beautiful masterpiece, right in front of him.”
I love this sandwich and still eat it. I was a big fan of the Italian parm version when they popped up every now and then. Best thing on the BK menu besides the whopper
The parm one was killer. I haven't seen it in a while.
Or when they decide to just add bacon to it
FYI SAM😌
In Soviet Russia, its capital offence to touch bread with raw chicken fingers.
at least he put it in the oven after
In old soviet russia, raw chicken bread touch you!
Thanks for deconstructing this one. I'm gonna try it your way.
Don't know why I laughed so much when he said it has to look like a torpedo.
This sandwich is so nostalgic 😭
I love how they’re just casually talking for a few minutes and we’re just watching beautiful chicken fry
NUMBER 15 .....
Burger King foot lettuce. Would u rather have ur Burger King burger with foot fungus but that’s what you’lld get
@@fabianramirezfire2899 hahaha exactly
Pitching Magic Spoon in the same video you're using Kellogg's cereal. 🤣
This channel literally has all of the stuff I want to make. Thank you for having a good taste for food :-)
I was waiting for this, for the one and only reason...
How did Burger King get Dairy Queen pregnant?
He forgot to wrap his whopper.

foot fungæ delicious as f**k, though.

your cooking talent is amazing watching you now for a couple months already no regrets
Follow Sam and really enjoy a chicken sandwich. Forget KFC, McDonalds, Burger King cook simply with Sam and enjoy your food after all you earned it.
I haven’t had good BK in a decade. Their stores are filthy around here and the food is garbage. I loved the chicken sand and the Whopper when I was young. What happened?
@@MrCarnutbill67 you grew up and realized it was crap
Exactly
These sandwiches are great when fresh but if not they always just make me sad lol homemade is always better
Remember when they used to serve them cut diagonally
Yep. Me too!!
I always ask to have them cut it, its not the same. And this looks amazing. Will never eat that nasty sandwich again. Thank you Sam.
I always had them add a slice of cheese. Then they started charging for the cheese. So I would take it home and add my own. But the deep fried chicken always wilts the mayo & lettuce.
@@wendy833 me too...:)
Wait. You were being sarcastic🤦♂️
Old war horse veteran really enjoyed this show, shout out to the troopers. God bless.
"We gotta bun in the oven, getting the seeds to stick"
The second part of that sentence doesn't help make it sound non-suggestive 🤣
"We are doing this for Max" ... Doesn't let him do the taste test xD
He probably still likes the BK OG. I like them as well but they'll never be as visually appealing as the promo photos.
@Roman von Ungern Sternberg Probably the case for most re-imagined fast food.
ikr XD
I worked at BK back in high school. The number is for the time that the sandwich was made. So, if I made the sammie at 1, I would mark 1. Every sandwich has an amount of time it can sit under the lamp before it has to be thrown away, so you use that marked number to determine the end of life for the sammie.
I loved this sandwich from BK. Now I really wanna try this. I LOVE your channel!
Gross
Eat somewhere else!!
Oh please do the bread pork tenderloin. Its a Midwest thing but its so good!!

foot lettuce aint an old joke, its a meme. but the thing actually happened.
Hopefully Kelly knew about the “accident” before this episode lol
The Numbers are for letting the Expediter know when to throw the sandwich way. So you don’t get one that’s been sitting their all day.
@Randall Johnson their, their, poor thing. Why does one have to insult me because of the improper use of a word that people made up anyways. How smart is it to insult someone over things man made up? That’s really Super Dumb.
@Randall Johnson Oftentimes, if there’s a typo in a word like “there”, spellcheck will automatically “correct” it to whichever word it “thinks” you were trying to type. It’s not always that the typist doesn’t know which word to use, but that spellcheck doesn’t.
