did fried chicken couple of days agoo and i marinated with honey, paprika, salt, peppar and spicy siracha sauce; i also used a mix of panco (?) and flour and some baking powder + some spices that i dipped in it, the baking powder makes it even crunchier and the mix of panco and flour is just even better. So my recommendation is to try using whatever you want because everyone has different taste and not to be afraid to experiment :P.

SAM: Don't wash chicken because the water splashes the bacteria around the place. Also SAM: * Splashes batter coating the chicken on the counter * Funny guy SAM. Love the videos!
People don't "wash" the chicken. Usually, they put it in a bowl with water and halved limes. They use the acidity of the lime to "wash" the chicken. And the reason why it's mostly African, Caraïbian, Middle Eastern people who do this is because a long time ago, when refrigerators were not a thing, the chicken or beef could go a little bit rancid because of the hot temperature in Africa, the Caraïbians, Middle-East, etc. There's actually a word for this smell in Arabic that doesn't translate to a direct word in most European languages. These days it's useless to do that because refrigeration exists so the smell isn't there anymore, but it's in their cultures. Their moms or dads showed them that you needed to wash the chicken just like their parents before. It's a cultural thing
hey i always wash my chicken using gloves but then I also wash my hands afterwards with soap... how ever my little son kept telling me do not wash chicken because it can splash bacteria around. I agreed

I am from the Caribbean and we always wash our chicken and never once have we ever gotten sick. I guess it is a preference thing but I am never going to stop washing my chicken
I understand why not to wash chicken and I never have, but having the chicken flap around at 6:43 isn't much different since potentially contaminated buttermilk is going everywhere.
Washing meats is huge in Caribbean and African communities...I think it has to do with more that sources of the meats don’t have have strict rules as the FDA and when they come to America tradition rules. I’m African-American and never wash meats...my wife is Caribbean and would wash water if she could 🤣
I can understand how back then they didn't know. But younger people nowadays shouldn't be retarded, they can have the information easily. Cold water is not gonna kill any bacteria... We rinse veggies because of possible dirt, not about of bacteria. You rinse new cups and plates because of dust accumulated on it... not bacteria.
Hey Sam. Love the videos. I'm late to the convo. Not sure if it was discussed, but the washing of everything is because in developing nations there is debris in the food due to low-quality processing. The reason my parents learned to wash rice is because of debris (sand, and others) that came with it. Not to remove starches as what the main reason is now. Same thing with the meat. Who knows what is happening at the wet market. I'm so lucky to be here where I don't have to deal with that. Toronto what's up!
Great job, and I also just take the chicken out of the package and cook it. USDA looks over the packaging process in our processing plants so hopefully they do a good job!
My parents were chefs and washing poultry was often necessary because of open animals butcher shops where they're from which could mean literal dirt and contaminants visible on the meat. They still do that today even with meat they buy packaged although they use a separate sink they decontaminate. If done properly with good reason there's nothing wrong with washing chicken.
He preached all that about not washing chicken because it splatters bacteria elsewhere. Then ends up splattering the worktop with the contaminated butter milk and flour 😂😂😂
I don’t wash my chicken before cooking, I learned to cook fried chicken from my grandmother who made the BEST fried chicken, and who also used Buttermilk to soak her chicken in! Love all of your videos!

Apparently these people have never heard of heat. They don't realize cooking the chicken kills any bacteria that was on it. And that racist 2nd half of the comment proves their ignorance.
@@openmythirdeye I just throw the raw chicken in the laundry machine. Cook smart, not hard.
Dont know why but when he said, “Dont worry everything will be fine.“ i never felt so reassured!
Freaking love your show. Swearing... no swearing, either way. Just be/do you. Keep killing it Sam.
Sam is for the children
Swearing is fine, not everyone sees swearing as a taboo. Only around children is it a taboo. It's a social norm in this day and age. Time to go outside.
@Mr C you prefer swearing?
Just made your version of the Nashville 🔥chicken sandwich and my wife loved it!! Keep the videos rolling Sam! And Max!
Went to culinary school. You don''t wash chicken.
opiumthoughts so did I ... we cleaned chicken
Agreed.... never wash chicken.
Doesn't wash chicken but splatters brine everywhere lol

So i totally used to wash my chicken and it was frustrating because of the splatter... Even with water on low... Cleaning of the sink.... You changed my life yo. Never washing chicken again... Made chicken a dozen times since I stopped and no one's been sick. Thanks Sam!
This is literally the first I’ve heard of people washing their chicken.
“A little paprika”
(Dumps half a container in) 😁
I’m half Latino and half Asian and neither side of my family as long as they can remember have never washed their chicken
@@SomeBody-pb7ht LMAO I just clean it because most of the time the chicken has this slimy shit and I’m not eating that besides u can always just clean the counter or shit like that and I’m Puerto Rican
I made this yesterday for Memorial Day. Wife loved it, kids loved it everyone loved it. Even if you don't do the hot oil this makes fantastic fried chicken, the oil (if you like spicy) just takes it over the top. Love this channel.
He finally did it !
Y’all can stop commenting it now XD
Hey Sam, you should make and episode for appetizer/tapas and cocktail combos!
did fried chicken couple of days agoo and i marinated with honey, paprika, salt, peppar and spicy siracha sauce; i also used a mix of panco (?) and flour and some baking powder + some spices that i dipped in it, the baking powder makes it even crunchier and the mix of panco and flour is just even better. So my recommendation is to try using whatever you want because everyone has different taste and not to be afraid to experiment :P.
Sam PLEEEEEASSSEEEE do a Gyro video. I use you for reference a lot and i would love to see how you create such a special dish. MACA
Just made this.....really easy...I have a double barrel deep fryer on my back deck....used tenders....ate 6....I've had the real thing in Nashville and this recipe is for the masses with regard to heat. I kicked it way up with "The General's Danger Close" hot sauce.....almost got to the level of "Slow Burn Hot Chicken" in Nashville. Half an hour after eating....still smoldering.
This guys voice... I feel like he should be telling me that there's always money in the banana stand
HAHAHAHAHA brilliant
lmao
Fitting it started raining while doing nashville hot chicken... Im from nashville... Its been raining like crazy last couple of months....
The chicken looks awesome
Tattoo Charlene same over here in California except it goes back and forth with getting warm, sprinkling then raining haha really crazy weather
Luca Peyrefitte here in Seattle it’s been a cycle of snow and 30 degrees, 80 degrees and sunny, and pouring rain. Could it just be summer already?

Honestly my favourite youtuber. Please do Short ribs/ Maui Ribs!! Its a cheap cut of beef that a lot of guys on a budget could use!! Or Make the cheapest delicious meal (budget wise)in your opinion! would love to see it!
So weird. I'm reading this comment on a completely different video from the Trogly's video lol spooky app.
I do wash my chicken with salt, lemon, and water. My mom always washed her chicken like that and I continue to do it that way because she taught me how to cook. I've also seen people not wash their chicken and I've never gotten food poisoning either way so to each his own. Great video my brother. I love your channel.
SAM: Don't wash chicken because the water splashes the bacteria around the place.
Also SAM: * Splashes batter coating the chicken on the counter *
Funny guy SAM. Love the videos!
@rxp56 Batter vs water. Or salmonella vs salmonella if that's better for you.
@rxp56 Does the batter somehow neutralize the salmonella??
grim8118 no but his entire table is a cutting board. Which can be washed easily.
New to this channel but somethings telling me I’ll be staying awhile

I love that you never wait to take that first bite!!! True foodie🙌🏼😂 #feeltheburn
people who wash chicken have dirty microwave buttons
ap31 on the contrary, its probably cleaner than anyone else’s.
Informative purposes only not white at all lol.
@@liaades9452 Yeah, i hope you clean every spot of your countertop after you wash your chicken. Or rather, i hope you don't.
Kristian My home and kitchen is spotless beyond comprehension. Your comment is pointless.
hey i always wash my chicken using gloves but then I also wash my hands afterwards with soap... how ever my little son kept telling me do not wash chicken because it can splash bacteria around.
I agreed
Impressive crispy breading on that chicken. Looks so delicious with the sauce applied.
You are our favourite guy online now. You have no idea how much your videos help us through this crazy time. Love from Cape Town. You also have the best camera man.
Do we fry the chicken ~7 to 8 minutes on each side until fully golden brown? Also, is peanut oil okay to use? Thank you.
Canola would be best

Vavazelus not not tacos
Vavazelus Check out the menu....crazy take on tacos but sounds great
Hahahaha I love his sense of dry humor! I bet he is funnier after a couple of drinks lol 😂
Man, I just made these for dinner, I had a chance to let the chicken strip sit in the brine for about 4 hours and it's the first fried chicken I've ever made that looked good, and the crunch was awesome
Sam. Still waiting for that beef Wellington. Still love all your video budd
Sam just made and ate this delicious chicken. OMG it was great. Please keep the wonderful videos coming. Thank you.
What kind of oil should I use
Amistat Knox canola
Sam, avoid the internet trolls (but please don't stop cooking)!
Rob Rainford “Licensed to Grill” echoed the same as you, Sam - you do NOT need to wash chicken. I think certain cultures believe you need to wash chicken before seasoning and cooking. It’s passed down to generations. We need to educate…and it starts with you, Sam. Cheers to you. And love each and every episode. Most awesome Canadian - next to Rob. LOL.
I am a Afro-American dude I am have never washed my chicken. In theory if there was something on it . Water is not strong enough to get rid of it!
Agreed
I’ve used warm water, salt and vinegar

Sam in 2019: "would you believe the CDC?"
2020: *Laughs*
*laughs in 2020*
RONA!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
My thoughts exactly
2021: 😂😂😂 CDC 😂😂😂
what gets me is i'm assuming a black lady talking shit on white people. sam quotes the CDC.
fast forward as you all have to 2021 and everyone laughs at how foul and false the CDC has been.
but here is the irony of it all.
the mass majority of those pushing CDC and mask propaganda is the left like BLM groups......... hmmmm 🤔
I am from the Caribbean and we always wash our chicken and never once have we ever gotten sick. I guess it is a preference thing but I am never going to stop washing my chicken
His slight Canadian accent is so endearing. As a somebody who grew up in Minnesota...love it.
Sam, you remind me of an extremely excited version of Ben Stein! Nice try on the Nashville Hot Chicken from a Nashvillian. Great content..subscribed
I understand why not to wash chicken and I never have, but having the chicken flap around at 6:43 isn't much different since potentially contaminated buttermilk is going everywhere.
oldnavy180 oh I’m sure a few spots of buttermilk is more dangerous than a sink full of salmonella
@@Haurshanked His point was, the raw chicken was in the buttermilk.
I love the complete recipes... much appreciated. I'm a new viewer but I'm now a huge fan!
Sam: Washing the chicken can contaminate countertops
Also Sam: Shakes buttermilk from the chicken all over the place
Hey it’s better safe than sorry my friend lmao
@@legrandfromage9682 Its not safe to wash chicken, that's the while point. You will spread salmonella everywhere and on things you won't cook...
@@QCMercer Exactly. I’d rather take heat from people who do wash their chicken than kill anyone within the vicinity.
I FU*CKing love this channel! Why did it take me so long to find it?
Sunny and rain, literally every rainy day in australia

Hey Sam, thanks for these videos. I've learned a ton from you and have cooked most my meals these last couple weeks. You're the best!
Great job, and I also just take the chicken out of the package and cook it. USDA looks over the packaging process in our processing plants so hopefully they do a good job!
Thighs have definitely become my favorite cut of chicken. This looks delicious.
Will you make beef wellington?
He's mentioned it's on the to do list in another video....somewhere...
He preached all that about not washing chicken because it splatters bacteria elsewhere. Then ends up splattering the worktop with the contaminated butter milk and flour 😂😂😂
HAHAHA
i was thinking the exact same thing!
I know, right? He even says, "Splashing, splashing," like it's part of the procedure.
Well its a lot easier to see a thick white liquid than water
I mean let’s be honest if you fry something you will make a mess and there’s nothing you can do about it. But In general never wash your chicken
Sup sam, could you make walnut shrimp ? Its my fav thing for chinese takeout
so down to see him make honey walnut shrimp
I don’t wash my chicken before cooking, I learned to cook fried chicken from my grandmother who made the BEST fried chicken, and who also used Buttermilk to soak her chicken in! Love all of your videos!
Sam, please make fish and chips.
I'd like to see that too
I was also in the habit of washing my chicken....and now I've stopped. Knowledge is power.
