Hi Master Gary …. I just use walking sticks , because after a lifetime of mechanical work and martial arts/ sports , so tendinitis and joint issues make using the big canes much more difficult. Nevertheless, they are made of extremely strong wood .
I wouldn’t want to be hit by one ! Love your channel . I do like that cane your using , it’s begging for some Tonfa style technique

Hi Rob thank you for watching.. I use a mini cane that can be used just like a tonfa. I have a video on this channel showing it.

I love their canes! The Hame tops are my favorites. I’m the proud owner of 11 Brazos canes of different styles.

    Happy Birthday!
That is an attractive and powerful-looking cane, and I like hickory. So, I’ll be interested to see how it holds up. Thanks for all you do! Keep up the good work.

I’ll be anxious to see how it holds up as a fighting cane. Looks pretty nice for the money..

Master Gary I've seen this cane and it looked interesting. Like some others I don't feel comfortable that the derby handle will not break off. What about a long wood screw through the handle and deep into the shaft. Counter sink the hole and fill it in? Do you think this would keep the handle in tact for most purposes? BTW I will see you tomorrow. Mike

    • @Savagecane

Hi Mike, It all depends on the Derby cane, but doing what you're saying would you surcure it a lot stronger?
But also may go off in the metal detectors depending on what kind of screw you use. When you come in tomorrow, I'll show you that cane and show you the benefits of using the Derby. But you're right. A lot of people don't feel comfortable with it. And I understand that personal preference. But a dairy queen will hold out for what you need to do with it, and even if it breaks in the middle of combat, it's going to be effective, and then you can always buy another cane. See you tomorrow in class. Thanks Gary

Happy Birthday, bro! $65 is not bad for a well made combat capable cane. All of my canes cost at least $50 after taxes, shipping, etc... so, that is very reasonable. I am with the other folks in that I want to see you put this piece of kit through the torture test before I get one, but thanks for putting it on the radar! :)

I always wanted to get one of those canes. My fear is/was the connection point as it is 2 pieces. Let us know how it holds up. Looks good and that style is the most comfortable for me to use every day.

That style is my favorite, but as said, the 2 part cane always worries me. That one looks very solid. Wonder how the handle is attached??
    BTW, happy birthday.

You need to do a video on Cane structure...from low price wood 10$ to over 100 what you get for your money...do some break easier than others...How to tell if the wood is great or what...etc...u know the drill...Because i thought it would be easier but theres not many videos explaining this at all.

Having had a situation once which resulted in my breaking the head off of a cane, I'm hesitant to buy any cane which has a head that is a separate piece that is attached by joinery and glue. I recently saw the Brazos canes / walking sticks listed on the TractorSupply website. The one you are showing here is currently going for about $45. They also have a "free form hickory" walking stick which does not have a head on it. It is currently going for $28-30 (depending upon length, which varies from 48-58 inches)... I suspect that it would be classified as more of a "hiking stick" than a "cane" or "walking stick" though. Probably a different defensive technique when using something 58" long vs 36" long for a typical cane. Maybe more of a "staff weapon" type of method?
Due to various injuries that I've had over the years and age, I need a cane most days. Having a crook handle on the end does lend itself to certain tasks that would need to be accomplished differently with a straight shaft hiking stick... From a defensive point of view though, it's a tool, just like anything else and has a place in your whole escalation of force strategy... I nearly always am carrying a handgun (usually a M1911) and have no problem with using it if necessary, but not every situation deserves lethal force and the possibly subsequent legal issues that might result from your discharge of a firearm... As the saying goes, "if you only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail"... It's nice to have options...

I had one of these. The head broke off while walking. I'll never buy another one of Brazo's joined head canes again. Some joined heads are solid. These aren't.

    • @Savagecane
      @Savagecane  2 роки тому +1

I agree on some canes they can break but it's how you use a cane also. If something breaks off on a person head hopefully it hurt them some and remember to keep fighting until you can get away.

@@Savagecane the shaft is strong. The problem is, it is just joined with a bit of glue and a cheap wooden dowel piece. The best ones are joined with steel. Thank you for the review. Just wanted to bring to your attention that issue, because I have read that plenty others have had it. Thank you for the cane techniques! I look forward to them.

@@tim777us I know I train with all my different canes and I know how to defend with each one. You have to know each of your canes limitations and after that you know want you can and no do with each one. No matter what kind or cost on the cane.
