Very efficient cane. Thank you for showing us some of its features. With the teardrop design, irt could be called, ''The Pain Cane.'.'' For self-defense, of course as a ''Get off me'' tool.
I think a octagonal cane gives the same concentration of force great strength and great grip while being less intimidating and lower profile

Semantics. Anything is a weapon. Weapons are both defensive and offensive.
Agreed. I want as basic a cane as I can get.
If you use it in self defense the LEOs will want a look a what you used, and they will look at it as a potential weapon.
And if lawyers get involved? The more it looks like a weapon, the worse it can go for you.
There was a homeless, mentally ill man here in Los Angeles who blew out his knee playing football. He used an aluminum adjustable cane. He lost his temper with an aid worker and beat him with his cane. And he was charged with assault with a weapon.
I want inconspicuous, not flashy.
The sharp point gives it away tho. You have to make it look like a actual eagle head or else american security will make you walk without it. 😩

I'm impressed with your cane design. I personally prefer a black solid polypropylene heavier cane with nonreflective stippled surface that doesn't attract attention because of light reflections. I own several Cold Steel products, but my favorite & most used unit is the Axe Head Cane. It is almost indestructible.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe (even though you're defending yourself) drawing blood on your assailant can draw criminal charges for yourself. Certainly dependent on the prosecutor. As former LEO, police, when observing blood tend to write citations of greater severity. And we know our legal system is certainly greedy and inequitable. Prosecutors want marks in their "win" column, that's what matters to them. And lawyers just want as much money as possible going into their pockets. Know that we have a "court" system, and a "legal" system. But don't go looking for a "justice" system these days.
All very true Sir but as I said alot if you're life is on the line you may have to defend yourself with force. Always important to know the laws in your state or country. Just like if you were using a gun or knife to defend yourself. Thank you Gary Hernandez

Thank you for the video. What do you consider a possible down side to having the tear drop run the full length of the cane? I am considering ordering a can with full length tear drop, plus top and bottom grips. Thank you.
Hello, the only downside that I see, and this is just a personal opinion. When you run a tear drop down the full length of a cane, it gets a little more attention to it and looks more like a cane sword more noticeable . But again, that's just my opinion. Thanks Gary

Hi Lee yes unless you are on the shorter side I had a few women that I know that are just under 5 foot . And one guy that was very short. Then you want to be able to walk with it but still have that reach with it. I give it between half or a full inch extra for uses as a long self defense tool.

Hello and thank you for buying a ShadowHawk cane. 1st let me answer your question. Both round and octagon work well. Tje octagon will give you a good hold for a smaller cane. And when you hit with it there are little side edges that can hurt tje attacker a little more then just a round one. 2nd when you get your ShadowHawk I will do a 30 min live video training with you if you like to get you use it the different features on that cane. hI Master Gary in class we worked on catching roundhouse kick but I am getting old my question to you is instead of trying to intercept round house could you instead try to interept the roundhouse using the cane by holding it to the side any ideas ? thank you
Hello, there are a few ways to stop kicks using a cane. Round house kicks can be very powerful when someone knows how to do it right. But using the cane when moving to Intercept the kick and slow the power down as you injure, the knee helps a lot. I have to do a few videos in the future on stopping kicks with the cane.
HI Master Gary I may have asked this already but I could not recall the answer my cane at this time does not have stain or tung oil (and or is any cane )is it going to be a problem on rainy days ? or should I just make sure to dry it off immediately ( I am planing to get a canemasters product but it does not have tung oil or stain ) thoughts please thank you
Hello yes if it gets wet always dry it off. When you get a chance put some tung oil or mineral spirits on it.
@@Savagecane thank you for your response If I am poor I am not sure that stain or tung oil is critical but certainly always dry it immediately when wet ? I mean canes masters makes good stuff but getting it stain or oiled makes heavier on wallet so in the absence of that you would say dry it immediately and it is less likely to be damaged? Gary I had just order a cane master cane and had a short palm rest added wanted to ask your professional opinion is it possible and comfortable to spin a cane with a short rest and if so would you mind doing a video showing this technique. Thank you in advance
Hello I really don't do all the cane spinning like alot of the other cane guys. I will do a fast one spin for a strike if that was you mean. I can spin and will show you but it's more for exercise than self-defense. Thank you Gary Hernandez

Hello the length for me is 35 inches and the diameter is about 1 inch. But you can get the length for your size can be up or down in length .

Yes i have had several people fly wouldn't tell me they had no problems. It's just a cane for mobility.

thank you I am planing to get a mini cane I think I am going to see if an octogon shape is an option I am thinking I will keep it behind the door in case any one breaks in thank you but I think the main point is if any thing is used as defensive device I guess it could cause severe injury I am maybe thinking that as future product only to add a pepper spray fire arm or something ( non lethal) it would be dangerous to have actual fire arms around if you are not trained to use it again thank you

Hello Teterforo the shark teeth are great but people will notice it more on your cane and ask what it for. The tear drop is not as noticed and when you block with it it's good to hurt the attacker arm more and doesn't bring to my question about what it's for I feel. I like both but more of a fan for the tear drop on my cane. Hope that helps thanks Gary
Yeah I see your point the less attention you attract the better if for some reason you instead of the bad guy were to be arrested or something ( if it can be effective and it looks less like a weapon it is of course a great idea )

Hi Dennis, I designed this for cane masters a couple of years ago. You will be able to go on a plane with it. I know people who have taken me on a plane and never had a problem but youcanalsocheckwithTSA on that. You need to ask camasters if they could put eyes on it. If they can't, you can attach them yourself. I know people have gotten the eyes at shops like Michael's Craft store and added them themselves. But ask cane masters if they can add eyes they use to. @@WyattLite-n-inn Hi Wyatt on the black canes they are stained all the way through the cane to be black. I have not tried the black enamel on it yet. There is a darker tung oil that you can use but I haven't tried it yet.

This is a funny time. I have never seen such things before. I guy at least 20 years younger than I , and that I have bearly noticed says I am to close to him and starts an arguement It gets so bad I say pick your shit up off of the counter run out to the truck and unless you carry a serious big ass gun get out of my way.. Funny, I didn't even know he had a truck but it was a 4x4 Ford F-250 and I only saw tailights... I am way too old for a punching match. If I did one because of the blood thinner drugs I would look like a walking blue man with some green mixed in.

HI Master Gary as my dojo I highest student my accomplishements have been recognized and I have been recently asked to help with classes I am having to take a break at the moment since I sprained my ankle but I was hoping to ask your opinion please something( I am hoping you can asnwer my current research question ) I recently thought about is if I have a standard cane please let me know your thoughts its possible that riots some time break out in my area and I was thinking I think the law says I can carry a cane but it does not seem to specify how I can or cant carry it something I had recently thought about was why not carry the cane with the horn sideways than you could rotate the horn ( to front or back )as needed when needed thoughts please thank you
Hi i carry my canes many different ways depending where I am at. 1st off see what the laws say about you carry a cane where you are at. 2nd off it doesn't matter what kind of cane you carry and it doesn't matter how you carry it specifically what matters is whether or not you have good training to use it when you need to and to know when to use aggressive force and when just to use it to get somebody off you without hurting them. Because the minute you hurt somebody with it you need to have a really good reason why you're doing that because if you do end up in court your cane ends up as exhibit A just like any other self defense tool. I can give people the tools and I can teach them how to defend themselves but I am not a lawyer I can't tell you what you real.need to do and what will happen to you 100% in your state are a country get to know the laws of what you can and cannot do that is my best advice to you. @@Fredengle When I'm walking around outside I Carry the horn facing behind me when I'm inside stores I turned the horn facing forward for a close contact. Hope that helps

Hello, it should be fine. I would not recommend hitting anything with it unless you have no choice. Because you may feel it in your arms if it's that cold.
my instructor does state that he like to call these things training tool rather then weapons because he hope you dont get into a situation where you need the thing obviously if you were going use something like that in a defensive manner you had better be sure its the right tool for the job another instructor points out just because you have something like a cane does not always mean its the best tool!
Everything should be classified as a tool. I've said that many times before that's basic 101. Also, you should ask him about the weather conditions since you train with him. And you guys are where it's really cold. He can probably answer that question better cause i'm in florida.
yeah I am in maryland I do remember your video you said if you call it a weapon its a problem in court yeah well it one of those things any way my instructor does not really seem concerned if I carry my cane to or from class he seems more concerend that I use the thing in a responsible manner thank you! I think I know more than him about wooden cane and considering you desgined the shawdow hawk I am sure you have more experience with those things than my instructor thank you! Ps it illegal to ask your disabilty but if they ever did get my medical record they would see I was hit by a car !!! ( but apparantly I am doing well enough to be an assistant instructor I am a second degree black belt I think they do have a rule you cant be promoted Higher than your sensei so I think I am only eligble for one more test I have not been feeling well and thought I should focus on feeling better before I take my test !!! ) if I did mange to past the test I would be a second degree black belt with several stripes and I am not sure if it has a bar but I am already the highest student! ( My Sensei is letting me try my Luck with helping with classes !)

in the uk this cane would be illegal as it has been designed/altered/modified to inflict pain. as such it is classed as an offensive weapon. can your system be modifed to be used with a standard medical cane

What's the difference between Raven self-defense Cane versus the shadowhawk self-defense cane
Hello I have not had a chance to hold or see the Raven cane yet. I believe it's a aluminum cane made by Grandmaster Robina it looks nice and I am sure he can tell you all about his cane. As far as the ShadowHawk I designed it to be use for not only far strikes but also inclose combat fighting. I am sure the raven is a great cane but again I can tell you much about it with out really using it. I would say watch my videos on the ShadowHawk then watch his on the raven and that may help you understand the differences. Thank you Gary Hernandez

Hi Master Gary here is a question for you if its illegal to ask anyone why a cane was being carried I guess theoretically if I carried a mini cane and claimed it was a mobility device would you think it would be diffcult to separate you from it accept maybe on an air plane any thoughts please thank you
Hi Realistically they're not supposed to ask you why you carry a cane but if they're a cane but if they do you don't really even have to answer that. But the mini cane is very short compared to a regular size one. I know they will nit let you care it on a plane unless maybe if you where in a wheelchair and use it for reaching things with the hook. So I would not try to carry it on a plane.
I guess I was thinking maybe it a secret tonfa? well if you go on a plane I think most martial art weapons are generally accepted as a check ed bagged in cargo is that not correct? Well is as Mark Shuey said once you claim its not a mobility device than you have problems! I mean about the part isn't the best chancell of taking your martial arts training tool on the plane isn't it probably less likely to be an issue in checkede ? BAGs? I Mean IN NON CARRY on? Sound right ?

@@Fredengle You always will have to check in any martial arts weapon when flying. The only self-defense tool that's large you can walk in with is a wooden cane.

I believe that you would have a difficult time convincing TSA that that cane is purely for walking assistance…….or even a good number of Law enforcement…..don’t me wrong …looks cool but you quickly could go from defense to offense in the eyes of some because of those features
