How to use Your KNIFE with Your CANE ??????
in the uk this cane would be illegal as it has been designed/altered/modified to inflict pain. as such it is classed as an offensive weapon. can your system be modifed to be used with a standard medical cane
@merrymaker1031 Hello, Thank you for watching, and yes, it can be designed for any cane. Thanks for that question .
Great video. Thanks
@mikemcmanus116 Thanks, my friend
We never now IF a single strike will be enough, so looking for second and third target opportunities is critical IF additional imminent harm is indicated. With that in mind, self-defense laws typically limit our protective response to the minimal force required to avoid initial or further harm. So we must be prepared to later justify our actions before a police officer, judge or jury, or be subject to possible legal penalties. Proper restraint and self-control MUST be kept in mind, which I believe, needs to be practiced as part of our training. It can be done with "mental imagery/cognitive-behavioral rehearsal" just like practicing our striking skills. We are more likely to do, what we practice.
A grab is an initial assault, you never know what's coming next, a knee, headbutt, punch, knife, something else? So STOP the aggression, and PREVENT any "progression" quickly! This is a good example of "Economy of motion" in action. Get the biggest pay0ff, fast, simply, from the least amount of effort. Perfect! Thank you Master Hernandez.

Good to see ya back sir , Hi Mr Bob

Thank you Master Hernandez. A very important lesson. Practicing to strike specific areas help to build the neuropathways in the brain required for effective "hand-eye co-ordination", which will develop faster reaction times with better results if needed. Unprepared persons are less likely to fair so well, in high stress situations. So there is no substitute for good preparation. Your expertise and guidance are very much appreciated once again.

The phone # for DNR is not working for me. In the past I’ve ordered & received 3 canes from Don based on your recommendation (2 were well received gifts)

Thank you for the response. The 3 Don made for me were of excellent quality.
SHOW DE MOVIMENTOS
I find it a bit annoying when folks who dont need mobility aids use them, because people will offer extra help to those with disabikities, as we have special needs. America being this paranoid is a problem. I hope you arent taking advantage of disabled lines, or other accomodations. When folks who dont need mobility aids do this type of thing, it often removes this accessability point for the rest of us who do need these things.
I wonder if another possibilty is if you take your cane and put it in a dfenstive diagonal as a shield if possibly people will be detered if they see your ready to use it as a weapon? I think a different instrutctor site the Philippino decuerdas defense as a using the cane on a diagonal kind of like a shiled thoughts ?
Excellent video to stimulate our understanding about resourceful and impromptu defenses. It reminds me of the Japanese Samurai warriors who were known to be always ready for unexpected attacks. From my experiences, too many still fail to seriously "consider, let alone prepare their minds" for such realities. Violent assaults can happen, anywhere, and many times when least expected. Thank you for your insightful education to all of us. Well done.

Great medical and self-protection advice! Thank you for sharing this information! I trained under multiple black belts over the years, and none of them ever mentioned this consideration.
@@dr.j6747 Thank you very much 😊
I've been waiting to see a video like this. Thank you Master Hernandez, a very well taught lesson. I agree with all the hand techniques you demonstrated, especially liked the double heel of hand blows to the ears, and might include a few chin jabs with heel of hand, and/or repeating edge of hand strikes into the throat in a potential deadly situation. I also typically carry "stream" pepper spray within easy reach, and would first deploy it, if time and body positioning permitted. If the attacker went down, but showed continued determination to continue a serious assault, stomps to his hands, fingers, wrists, or ankles could increase chances for a more successful escape.
@@dr.j6747 Thank you for watching this one.
Excellent info😆
Thank you very much
WOW! That takes cane training to a higher level, dealing with the physical demands of being assaulted, the constant motion, changing angles, striking moving targets of opportunity, while shifting body positions to avoid the aggressor. That is a rich learning experience. Post-video review, analysis and discussion would also enhance the lessons to be learned. Great job guys!
@@dr.j6747 Thank you
QUESTION? about common hardwood walking canes. I see they come in 1" or 7/8" diameters. Is one better than the other? Thank you in advance Master Hernandez for your kind reply.
The only difference is the thickness of the cane for how your hands gonna hold it and maybe of a little bit of weight. It's more personal preference on what you're gonna like. To me a thicker cane will be better for fighting.
@@Savagecane Thank you Master Hernandez.
A knife attack is extremely frightening to me as I know how dangerous and potentially deadly they can be. They are especially lethal in the hands of a trained attacker. The jail-house type assault is one of the worst, where you're unexpectedly and quickly grabbed, and held "helplessly" secure by his one hand, while being repeatedly stabbed by the other. I had a relative who was stabbed to death in a violent knife assault, it was tragic beyond words. I previously learned how to identify a trained attacker, and hand to hand knife defenses during my formal martial art training, but never had much faith in those defenses. I believe the cane gives us more hope. Thank you once again Master Hernandez for an extremely crucial and well taught lesson!
Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to watch my videos.
Sempre grande!
Thank you
Thank you! Great video.
Hello. You can take that on a plane ?
Yes, my students have some, and both went on planes
Most aggressors want to avoid being seriously injured by any of their potential victims, so would absolutely disarm us of our canes if they could do it. So closing distance in order to grab our cane, is a real probability. If I could see an approaching person, and did not know his intent, especially in a vulnerable area, I would give Strong and Loud verbal commands to "HALT, STOP, STAY-BACK"! Any reasonable person would comply! If he continued forward, I would position myself ready to defend, if they entered the "red-danger" zone. There comes a moment, when the aggressor's intent becomes OBVIOUS, and the "talking" is done. If I was unable to prevent the grab, thank you Master Hernandez for providing a range of interesting and variable close-quarter techniques to chose from.
Thank you for watching this.
@@Savagecane It is my sincere honor. Every one of your videos provide important learning opportunities which help to keep all of us safer if ever required. "Much better to be prepared and not need it, than need it and not be prepared."
Very nice crook applications to add to our self-protection skills. I like the variety of short and/or longer 'slide-up' striking maneuvers, which can be quickly modified for changes in distances and body positions. I also appreciated the legal cautions, as legal self-defense typically requires "only" the amount of force necessary to insure our safety. Some locals mandate reasonable attempts to avoid or retreat from the aggressor, which we may be required to articulate in court. So we better be ready. This means, we each need to understand our local and state self-defense laws. Thank you for the reminder, we don't want to become the villain in the eyes of the court. Appreciation once again Master Hernandez, for another excellent, and well taught lesson.
Thank you very much, my friend.
Love your videos. I’d like to find out more about the canes. I can’t find dnr woodworks anywhere on line. Is there a site I can google?
Hello, unfortunately, he stopped making canes .
@@Savagecane can you suggest another source of quality cane for self defense? I’ve looked at cane Masters, but would like to find another less expensive supplier. Tia.
@tombergam9266 At this particular time, I have not found another source that I can Comfortably suggest.
Outstanding application of a low leg hook with the crook, which minimizes injury potential from a concealed edge/puncture/bludgeon weapon. Managing and maintaining distance during an altercation is often a critical predictor to a desirable outcome. Bruce Lee and other highly skilled practitioners, have indicated, "If an aggressor cannot touch you with his attack, he cannot harm you". The cane is a superb tool to deliver self-defense applications while maintaining precious distance. I've been carrying a shorter cane when in public areas after reviewing a video of two thugs who unexpectedly pulled knives and began randomly stabbing defenseless patrons in a busy department store. It was horrible to watch, but a valuable lesson about the importance to "always be prepared". Proper preparation can make the difference between survival and severe injury or death, to either yourself and/or to others.
Thank you very much.
Awesome concepts Gary.... thank you.
Thank you for watching my friend
The purpose of a distance weapon like a cane is to stay out of the distance where the weapon can wound or kill you.
thanks for this video-really something to be aware of! !
Thank you very much for watching my friend.
My mother was traumatized as a child because every time she or her siblings or cousins got near their great grandfather, he would clothesline them with the crook of his cane and laugh an evil old man laugh. :)
Thank you for the excellent teaching content.
Thank you very much for watching
I would never pull an attacker closer to me. If I used my cane to defend myself, I would be trying to get distance from the attacker.
awsome!! glad you are doing well.
Thank you, Donald
I don't plan to plan to pull an attacker in close by the crook.
