OK, so this is going to be a long comment... I apologize in advance. First... Fantastic video. Top notch videography, editing, and OMG do you have an incredible narration voice. Instant thumbs and subs. Second... Yeah, the Va'Ruun weapons are amazing. Third, and this is the long part. I'm gonna hopefully help someone get a Starshard, as this is exactly how I got mine. It does involve a cheese/glitch/exploit, whatever you prefer to call it. There is a very popular chest exploit (several, actually) in Akila. The first chest we're going to discuss is the first vendor you get to as you enter the city, just on the left. I recently learned that there's a way to get him to update his inventory for a total of two loot opportunities before you have to go wait the 48 hours for the refresh. Now here's the thing.... I have spent hours and hours looting this guy's chest. And I'm convinced there's an additional glitch at play here... read on. So here's how to do it: Go loot the chest as normal. Immediately go in and talk to the vendor and open up his inventory. Close the window, and go back out to loot the chest again (talking to him and asking to see what he has for sale causes the chest to re-roll). Here's where the secondary glitch kicks in. This secondary loot roll is bugged; it is causing him to get inventory from a loot pool he doesn't normally roll from. And it is in this second loot that you'll find weapons that he would normally NEVER have in stock, including Va'Ruun weapons. This is how I've gotten three Advanced Starshards (I'm level 127, so most of my stuff rolls advanced). He will also have extremely rare crafting materials and resources available for the second loot, too. You can also do this with the weapons vendor that is just next door. I haven't had any Va'Ruun drops from her, but I have seen her roll some very good weapons. Her second loot opportunity isn't bugged like the first guy, though. After you've looted both vendors twice, go wait your 48 UT hours and repeat. I think I got lucky with my first Va'Ruun drop from him, as I got it during the first hour after I started doing the second loot thing. Then it took about three hours for the second one, and 1.5 for the third. All of them have been white Advanced Va'Ruun Starshards.

Not sure if the second (bugged) loot pool he rolls his inventory from is capable of pulling any of the other Va'Ruun weapons at this point. Also, the more stuff you take from his chest during the first looting, the more items will get rolled during the second bugged roll. It's like the game says, "OK, this vendor should have x number of items right now. Roll for additional items until x number is reached." I've been completely looting all of the weapons, ammo, and resources during the first loot and dropping them on the ground (except for the ammo, which is always worth keeping). This results in a lot more items getting rolled for during the second loot. I'm getting Starshards about every third time this way, as well as an incredible amount of extremely rare resources and crafting components.
@@floorpizza8074 yea when I was doing it this was exactly how I did it, I wasn’t really focusing on money etc so I would save before I grabbed the chest guns, grab them all , then talk to the seller so it would refill, see what’s in the shop/chest. If nothing was good in the bugged chest I would reload my save, the first chest would always be the same but the second one will always be something different entirely
The issues with stealth are that enemy detection seems too good. With maxed stealth and chameleon, I always get spotted so I rarely get the stealth damage bonus multiplier. Very tough to level the stealth skill at the bottom of the tree.
Your space suit affects stealth. There are 2 mods that you can add to space suits that make you more difficult to detect. Also, you can just remove your space suit items to have the best stealth.
@@viraleffectz The last mission is actually pretty easy if you just go with no armor and you have the basic stealth skill maxed out. The goal is not to get into combat so you don't need armor anyway. There are only a couple of spots where you need to use the neuro control skill to distract a guard for a moment, but other than that it's just sneaking around through vents and on top of catwalks for the most part. With no armor on, wearing the operative suit, and the basic stealth skill maxed out guards will only alert to you if you're directly in their line of sight until the stealth meter goes fully to caution. If you're not in line of sight your stealth meter literally won't budge. There is no magical ability for guards to detect you just from you moving like there is when you're wearing armor.
@@ArtemisShanks The armor mods that allegedly reduce detection are a waste. All they do is reduce the weight of the armor slightly which only very slightly improves it's stealth ability. Your stealth meter will still go up rapidly when you're near a guard.
I got my Varun pistol I was level 6 I went and did a bounty in a high-level system the enemy I was fighting where level 62 and by the time I finished I was level 10 and my pistol was just sitting on a table and yes that pistol is pretty much carried me through the rest of the game so far
I picked up a legendary advanced inflictor rifle back when I was in the level 20 range. At the time though I was modding out my different ballistic weapons and I didn't even bother to try it out, so it sat in my inventory for at least 10 levels or so before I even tried it. After I used it I realized how absolutely OP the thing was, and it definitely became my number one weapon. When you get a good one put a medium scope and recon laser sensor on it, and you get this big glowing red reticule on the screen unlike any of the other weapons that don't use energy as part of their damage, and you can use it as a sniper rifle as well to some extent. The thing is amazing and it will one shot most enemies even if it's not a headshot. I think around level 40 is when I started seeing it regularly at many vendor shops in the refined and calibrated forms. They're not as hard to find as you might think if you check shops around new jemison and other main hubs. But like I said I think it started appearing around level 40 or maybe 35. I like using the pistol version with the burst fire mod option with an extended magazine. It shoots two shots at a time and it really accurate and works well on human enemies cuz it'll kill them with one burst fire shot, and the extended mag lets you use it for a bit longer so you don't have to reload it too frequently due to burst fire use.
I have a common Va’Ruun rifle I’m level 53 so most items are advanced and it has been game changing. I went from using a ridiculous amount of med kits after fights as I haven’t put any skill points into damage resistance of any kind I just have wellness maxed (max hp perk) so I was using more med kits because there was more health to recover, I also believed I messed up with the traits at the start as I picked Alien DNA which decreases effectiveness of aid items and food. Yes I see now that it was a bad choice and that mixed with wellness is irritating to say the least. After getting this Va’Ruun rifle though I now just one shot most things even the legendary enemies that are 30+ levels above are simply just a couple of extra shots. *****SPOILER ALERT PLEASE STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE GAME AND STARTED NG+ ***** You can get a legendary Va’Ruun rifle drop if you kill The Emissary which I didn’t really use in all fairness and I finished the game straight after that but I am excited to use when I come to the end of this play through which I’m thinking of getting straight that point then doing all the side quests after. Just some FYI for the NG+ players that persuaded there way out of the fight like I did the first time very much worth killing him for that.
The best method that i've found to farm Va'Ruun weapons it's to go to Serpentis and tour all the plannets boarding the last ship of every encounter, i use to get good stats weapons that way.
Va’ruun painblade has the highest base damage melee weapon. The reason stealth can be failing in melee, is because of noise. Space suits make lots of noise, but there are two mods you can build in them to reduce detection. That, the operator armor, and reconstim.
If you really want to take advantage of a full on stealth build the only way to really do it without chameleon pieces is to take off all of your armor when you're in an interior area and have the stealth suit you get from ryujin equipped to your apparel slots. The noise your armor makes is just too much and you will get spotted constantly regardless of which armor you're using and whether you put the noise reduction mods on. I spent ages trying to stealth my way through the final mission for ryujin. Trying to sneak around having to take a single step then stop to let the stealth meter go down and rinse and repeat. I literally spent hours trying to do it and saving non stop every time I managed to get to what seemed like a miilestone. After reloading about the twentieth time I figured what the hell I'll go with no armor and see what happens. I completed that mission in about ten minutes with no combat, never even being close to being spotted and the stealth meter never even registering a sliver of a caution warning.
correct me if im wrong but i thought that ballistic and laser arent the same as "phys" and "engy". like if you look at the 2 guns you show. they both say they are particle not ballistic or laser. the "phys" and "engy' numbers are just the type of dmg it does its like saying sword and slash damage or hammer and crush or impact damage. particle beams do physical and energy damage. idk i could be wrong i dont use particle beam. another example is the damage number on melee weapons, uses the same icon and says "phys" but its not ballistic.
Yeah, found this out pretty fast, was level 10 and went to Linneaus to get the spidroins for my spacesuit upgrades and stumbled into a legendary level 62 pirate, it took me like 30 minutes to kill it and cost me all my ammo, but i got a Advanced radioactive negotiator from his corpse which let me destroy like anything in the entire game with 1 or two shots, so the hunt for 40mm xpl rounds was on, i was literally a god of death with that weapon.
It's really unfortunate how difficult these weapons are to get. They're level locked for at least level 34 because that's when one finally appeared for me in a vendor. The painblade is easy to get if you're allied with the crimson fleet and it's the highest base damage melee weapon in the game. Still trying to figure out a location I can farm Varuun to try and get more of their weapons because they don't really appear for me very often. I only have the pistol right now and it's incredible even though my character isn't built for pistols. Can't wait to get the other types.
I got a starshard at around level 28. During the UC Vanguard questline there is a mission where you have to go to a planet in search of a robot named Kaiser. The first thing you have to do on that planet is visit a chop-shop type place where they specialize in mech parts and repairs or something like that, where you talk to the owner for information. The place has sort or a hokey name that I can't recall, but in the corner of the building there is a chest or weapon case that is tucked away and easy to loot without being seen. I found a starshard in there. Of course like so many things it's probably RNG and dumb luck, but I thought it might be helpful for people to know that this chest can contain items of that rarity.
I’ve only found one star shard pistol, two rifles, not including the star born legendary you can get at the end of the game, and two of the knifes. I wish there was a shotgun/sniper variant. Even tho you can get an attachment to make the pistol and rifle shoot like a shotgun.
I got a legendary pain blade at the end of one of the first quests I did. I was still trying to figure out how to play the game. I thought it was crap without even looking at it. I sold it. Now I’m traveling around trying to find these weapons and am finding it very hard to do so. In the beginning of the game I felt like I was always coming in contact with the Va’ruun. Now I don’t see them much at all. It’s probably because I am spending all my time trying to clear out my “activities”…which seems like a never-ending task.
I have the Va’ruun pistol for a while now. It’s just simply on a whole other level. Yesterday I picked up a Va’ruun shotgun. Just a standard variant, but it has the same energy damage but slightly higher physical damage. Just one pellet gives the recipient a bad day, if you can hit them with the full spread… ouchie. I chunked an elite down in two shots… I think my first one was a bit off though. This one with something like electricity damage or bleed would be very interesting indeed. Oh, and the shotgun looks like a hip-fire rocket launcher.
@@iDentityUS I double checked it when I got back home from work. It wasn’t a Va’ruun, it just has the same stats for damage that those weapons have. The only time I used it was to test it out so I forgot the manufacturer. Other than that, it uses the same ammo and does the same damage types though. I’m still looking for the rifle… or is it an SMG? My purple pistol deletes things doing over 630 damage a hit. But pistols are my thing skill wise.
I do love my Inflictor. The range isn't great, but it doesn't have to be - I've got rifles for that. The painblade is just a higher damage melee weapon, but hey, more damage is good. Another way to find these weapons (and the way I found most of mine) is in the loot chests in the Hillside Caves (they have a small generator outside) on higher level planets. Set Difficulty to Very Hard before discovering the cave, and once there, do a Quicksave so you can save spam the area. You'll have to take out a couple high-level turrets (and maybe some enemies if the planet has fauna), but there is a large chest and a pistol case at the small miner's camp. The large chest can spawn weapons and armor (including the Inflictor), and the pistol case can spawn a Starshard. Just reload the Quicksave if the chests don't have what you're looking for.
You have two options here. You cannot increase armor outside of getting better equipment. But there are two perks that increase ballistics and energy resistance respectively. Second option is using moon form. This quickly became my favorite power in combination with the sentinel perk you can get on legendary armor. It makes you almost invincible
I found a legendary Varunn rifle that was 201 physical DMG and 703 energy it was ridiculously op..I have a picture but I can't figure out how to upload it
I've come across a couple of Starshards. I've upgraded one for maximum damage for tougher enemies, but I still tend to use my trusty Advanced Solstice for most combat. It's at the point where it will 1 shot a lot of enemies but not all. (116 energy damage VS 57 phys and 240 energy from the Starshard) Could bump the Solstice higher, but don't like ignition beams. I play on normal difficulty and often use non optimal gear because it looks better and I want more challenge, so for me the Starshard is more of a backup weapon than my primary.
I got so lucky with my Varuun Starshard, one inch punch, so fires like a shotgun spread, and Furious, third effect is Med theft, while it's not the best mod its still almost perfectly fitting for the up-close and personal style of the gun. I hardly use any other guns but this or the Revenant
Rarity doesn't affect the damage. Anything with advanced will do the most damage for each weapon. So a common weapon that says advanced before its name will do more damage and a rare weapon with calibrated or less will do less damage
I can’t wait until a modder pulls the “dual wielding” coding from Skyrim; I mean, since they can’t get it from Fallout 4, to put into Starfield so we can use both Va’run weapons at once.
Love this game now that I'm playing it as an RPG pimarily and secondarily as a shooter. Even the none legendary variant 11mm balistic AR can be made powerful by upgrading them on the weapon workbench. No more bullet sponges in my game at very hard difficultly and not using mods either. I actually avoid using these weapons that you're show casing here because I agree they are way too powerful even for my level 22 chracter. Thanks for the video.
Found a starshard in the police station in Hopetown in my NG+4 run. It’s so good, but I need a better one, bc it’s starting to lose its touch as I go to higher level planets (lvl 70-75)
It seems you are confusing rarity (Rare, Epic, Legendary) with quality (base, calibrated, refined, advanced). Rarity only affects the modifiers, while the quality affects the damage.
I managed to get a legendary varun pistol while looting a random medium-small weapon container when doing the main quest searching for artifacts, It also comes with 4 mods
Mysterious Captain sells a blue quality Va'Ruun rifle that has the effect of dealing double damage to targets with full health... practically everything falls in one shot 😋
I'm using the emissaries legendary va'ruun rifle, it's called "Eternity's gate" has some insane mods plus a scope.. can't imagine theirs a more powerful weapon in the game, awesome!!
There is a level 50-55 planet I found where the base was full of va'ruun enemies. I wish I could remember the name, but they do exist. That's how I farmed a va'ruun legendary rifle that destroys everything.
Because they are particle weapons. Its the same with ship weapons. Particle Beams are absolutely busted. They usually get damage bonuses from multiple perks. Also the Trader, or mysterious captain as you might know her, has the best weapons in the entite game. Outside of Eternity's Gate. But this weapon is broken. But if you cannot get that yet go to the trader. Her assortment of weapons is crazy
I didn’t side with neither the Hunter nor the Emissary at the end of the final mission . I killed both and i got an Eternity Gate from the Emissary . I didn’t finish the game as i wanted to do some more quest that i didn’t finish . I thing the weapon is ok but i have more powerful weapons which i fully modded . My level is over a hundred and i’ve acquired all or most of the VA’ RUUN weapons in legendary and modern then to the max but still go back to my legendary Titanium Magshear fully modded and my fully modded legendary Revenant .
That's the 'Chameleon' trait. I got it early in my first playthrough. My 2nd run (which at this moment i'm staying on, I won't 'restart' the game as it were) I actually got it by cheesing the Mantis suit. 2 of the 3 pieces of my Legendary Mantis setup have Chameleon for a trait. the "Starborn" suit is better for resistances, hands down. But for style and stealth, the Mantis is the best I've got. I also slightly modified the Mantis' Razorleaf ship with a Class B reactor, dual shielded cargo holds, longer fuselage and upgraded weapons and shields. I kept the overall design language though because as far as the lore is concerned, the ship is 'known'. It's actually quite comical some of the hostile ship interactions you get when decked out in the Mantis outfit (or more accurately, piloting the Razorleaf). worth doing the acquisition mission JUST for those interactions.
@@Slacker28 the mantis set up gets the RNG treatment. The traits it can get are pseudorandom. I re-loaded a save I made before interacting with it 3 times to get that outcome. Not every Mantis suit will have the same traits. But the Chameleon trait is what gives that feature
i got lucky in NG+ i stole the controband in the Neon Security and Sydicate hideout and went straight to the Trade Authority and he had an inflictor and almost 300 ammo. i only lost 10k credits on that becase you start with 25k from constellation.
U can get a varun rifle in the stash of vendors from neon. i get it every starborn from frank renick store. 🧐👌 If he dindt have it save the game befoure u use the elevator to neon and like this the weapons respawn from the stashes of the city 🤟🧐
i have had one since the mid 20's and I get them all the time. You need to board their ships. I have the rifle and the pistol and finally got a drop for a legendary pistol. But the big bang hits even harder and the numbers are higher. My Big Bang does 126 and 456 compared to the Shard that is 100 and 354 on the rifle. But the number continues to go up on both the rifles and pistol as my level goes up. As in I find stronger guns when boarding their ships. A great place to find high level ships to board is in the Serpentis system. Just go from planet to planet and you will find their ships. But be warned they may show up with 3 or 4 so you have to kill the low levels fast then board the largest one for the best results.
I have 6 legendary pain blades...3 legendary starshards and an epic advanced inflictor..don't use any of them...mainly big bang shotgun for close range and hard target for sniping
Va’Ruun weapons are good but I rotate between them and the Big Bang which I think actually much stronger. My Big bang has 131 phys and 486 energy. I stops everything in its tracks. I killed the starborn in one shot with this
I got a varuune rifle legendary explosive and fire damage forgot the third roll . Got it at level 38 1 point in ballistic and 1 point in particle it does 350 energy and 90 ballistic fully upgraded. I got it in vlads house in the same room as the mutineer.
I became star born and lost my legendary starshard that did 287 damage😭 I don’t even remember when I found it so now I gotta search the whole universe smh they should let you keep one item when going starborn

Go to Serpentis ,in one round you can board 6 Varuun ships with tons of Varuun weapons no big deal🤔
I could be wrong but. The varuun weapons are particle based. So you have to up the particle weapons to get the damage up.

To do that just go to reliant medical and crouch down behind the doctor…Sneak attack him as many times as you want to max out concealment

Have you played the Ryujin quest-line? No spoilers but you get an item that helps a lot but......the last mission is a mess if you wanna stealth it 😂

I just found this on a Crimson Fleet vessel. Switched to very hard mode and opened a box then boom. It was there lol.

You can get a legendary Va’Ruun rifle drop if you kill The Emissary which I didn’t really use in all fairness and I finished the game straight after that but I am excited to use when I come to the end of this play through which I’m thinking of getting straight that point then doing all the side quests after. Just some FYI for the NG+ players that persuaded there way out of the fight like I did the first time very much worth killing him for that.

The best method that i've found to farm Va'Ruun weapons it's to go to Serpentis and tour all the plannets boarding the last ship of every encounter, i use to get good stats weapons that way.

For a guaranteed legendary Va'runn Inflictor, kill the Emissary at the end of the main quest. He drops the Eternity's Gate.
Va’ruun painblade has the highest base damage melee weapon. The reason stealth can be failing in melee, is because of noise. Space suits make lots of noise, but there are two mods you can build in them to reduce detection. That, the operator armor, and reconstim.
If you really want to take advantage of a full on stealth build the only way to really do it without chameleon pieces is to take off all of your armor when you're in an interior area and have the stealth suit you get from ryujin equipped to your apparel slots. The noise your armor makes is just too much and you will get spotted constantly regardless of which armor you're using and whether you put the noise reduction mods on.
I spent ages trying to stealth my way through the final mission for ryujin. Trying to sneak around having to take a single step then stop to let the stealth meter go down and rinse and repeat. I literally spent hours trying to do it and saving non stop every time I managed to get to what seemed like a miilestone. After reloading about the twentieth time I figured what the hell I'll go with no armor and see what happens. I completed that mission in about ten minutes with no combat, never even being close to being spotted and the stealth meter never even registering a sliver of a caution warning.

correct me if im wrong but i thought that ballistic and laser arent the same as "phys" and "engy". like if you look at the 2 guns you show. they both say they are particle not ballistic or laser. the "phys" and "engy' numbers are just the type of dmg it does its like saying sword and slash damage or hammer and crush or impact damage. particle beams do physical and energy damage. idk i could be wrong i dont use particle beam. another example is the damage number on melee weapons, uses the same icon and says "phys" but its not ballistic.
Obviously, the staff that creates these guns do not know the difference between a AR-10 and a Daisey BB Gun.

Yeah, found this out pretty fast, was level 10 and went to Linneaus to get the spidroins for my spacesuit upgrades and stumbled into a legendary level 62 pirate, it took me like 30 minutes to kill it and cost me all my ammo, but i got a Advanced radioactive negotiator from his corpse which let me destroy like anything in the entire game with 1 or two shots, so the hunt for 40mm xpl rounds was on, i was literally a god of death with that weapon.
It's really unfortunate how difficult these weapons are to get. They're level locked for at least level 34 because that's when one finally appeared for me in a vendor. The painblade is easy to get if you're allied with the crimson fleet and it's the highest base damage melee weapon in the game. Still trying to figure out a location I can farm Varuun to try and get more of their weapons because they don't really appear for me very often. I only have the pistol right now and it's incredible even though my character isn't built for pistols. Can't wait to get the other types.
I got a starshard at around level 28. During the UC Vanguard questline there is a mission where you have to go to a planet in search of a robot named Kaiser. The first thing you have to do on that planet is visit a chop-shop type place where they specialize in mech parts and repairs or something like that, where you talk to the owner for information. The place has sort or a hokey name that I can't recall, but in the corner of the building there is a chest or weapon case that is tucked away and easy to loot without being seen. I found a starshard in there. Of course like so many things it's probably RNG and dumb luck, but I thought it might be helpful for people to know that this chest can contain items of that rarity.
I bough mine in a shop then found another from a drop

To be fair, the Tesla Novalight does less dog but has more than double the fire rate. But it’s less relevant if you are 1 shotting things with stealth

I’ve only found one star shard pistol, two rifles, not including the star born legendary you can get at the end of the game, and two of the knifes. I wish there was a shotgun/sniper variant. Even tho you can get an attachment to make the pistol and rifle shoot like a shotgun.

I got a legendary pain blade at the end of one of the first quests I did. I was still trying to figure out how to play the game. I thought it was crap without even looking at it. I sold it. Now I’m traveling around trying to find these weapons and am finding it very hard to do so. In the beginning of the game I felt like I was always coming in contact with the Va’ruun. Now I don’t see them much at all. It’s probably because I am spending all my time trying to clear out my “activities”…which seems like a never-ending task.
I have the Va’ruun pistol for a while now. It’s just simply on a whole other level. Yesterday I picked up a Va’ruun shotgun. Just a standard variant, but it has the same energy damage but slightly higher physical damage. Just one pellet gives the recipient a bad day, if you can hit them with the full spread… ouchie. I chunked an elite down in two shots… I think my first one was a bit off though. This one with something like electricity damage or bleed would be very interesting indeed.
Oh, and the shotgun looks like a hip-fire rocket launcher.

@@iDentityUS I double checked it when I got back home from work. It wasn’t a Va’ruun, it just has the same stats for damage that those weapons have. The only time I used it was to test it out so I forgot the manufacturer. Other than that, it uses the same ammo and does the same damage types though. I’m still looking for the rifle… or is it an SMG? My purple pistol deletes things doing over 630 damage a hit. But pistols are my thing skill wise.

I do love my Inflictor. The range isn't great, but it doesn't have to be - I've got rifles for that. The painblade is just a higher damage melee weapon, but hey, more damage is good. Another way to find these weapons (and the way I found most of mine) is in the loot chests in the Hillside Caves (they have a small generator outside) on higher level planets. Set Difficulty to Very Hard before discovering the cave, and once there, do a Quicksave so you can save spam the area. You'll have to take out a couple high-level turrets (and maybe some enemies if the planet has fauna), but there is a large chest and a pistol case at the small miner's camp. The large chest can spawn weapons and armor (including the Inflictor), and the pistol case can spawn a Starshard. Just reload the Quicksave if the chests don't have what you're looking for.
Where did you farm the varuun enemies? I dont find a planet with lots of them and even no high level :(
What skill tree gives you more armor? Every time I finish a fight my health is so low. I have always go to the well on new atlantis to get cured.
You have two options here. You cannot increase armor outside of getting better equipment. But there are two perks that increase ballistics and energy resistance respectively.
Second option is using moon form. This quickly became my favorite power in combination with the sentinel perk you can get on legendary armor. It makes you almost invincible
I use pain tolerance for more physical resistance
I luckily got a Legendary Va'ruun Pain Blade. It is good, but I don't have my melee skills leveled up yet.

I got a legendary starshard with skip shot so I put the shotgun attachment so it fires a double shotgun shot every 4 shots
Dont get confused. They arent energy/lazers, they are particle weapons, so they will only gain bonus from the particle upgrades.
I found a legendary Varunn rifle that was 201 physical DMG and 703 energy it was ridiculously op..I have a picture but I can't figure out how to upload it
I've come across a couple of Starshards. I've upgraded one for maximum damage for tougher enemies, but I still tend to use my trusty Advanced Solstice for most combat. It's at the point where it will 1 shot a lot of enemies but not all. (116 energy damage VS 57 phys and 240 energy from the Starshard) Could bump the Solstice higher, but don't like ignition beams.
I play on normal difficulty and often use non optimal gear because it looks better and I want more challenge, so for me the Starshard is more of a backup weapon than my primary.
I got so lucky with my Varuun Starshard, one inch punch, so fires like a shotgun spread, and Furious, third effect is Med theft, while it's not the best mod its still almost perfectly fitting for the up-close and personal style of the gun. I hardly use any other guns but this or the Revenant
Fun fact if you do the weapon case glitch on a high level planet you can find them pretty easy I got a legendary va run pistol my 2nd try
Rarity doesn't affect the damage. Anything with advanced will do the most damage for each weapon. So a common weapon that says advanced before its name will do more damage and a rare weapon with calibrated or less will do less damage
I can’t wait until a modder pulls the “dual wielding” coding from Skyrim; I mean, since they can’t get it from Fallout 4, to put into Starfield so we can use both Va’run weapons at once.
Love this game now that I'm playing it as an RPG pimarily and secondarily as a shooter. Even the none legendary variant 11mm balistic AR can be made powerful by upgrading them on the weapon workbench. No more bullet sponges in my game at very hard difficultly and not using mods either. I actually avoid using these weapons that you're show casing here because I agree they are way too powerful even for my level 22 chracter. Thanks for the video.
Found a starshard in the police station in Hopetown in my NG+4 run. It’s so good, but I need a better one, bc it’s starting to lose its touch as I go to higher level planets (lvl 70-75)

It seems you are confusing rarity (Rare, Epic, Legendary) with quality (base, calibrated, refined, advanced). Rarity only affects the modifiers, while the quality affects the damage.
You can buy that blade from one of the crimson raider vendors.
I managed to get a legendary varun pistol while looting a random medium-small weapon container when doing the main quest searching for artifacts, It also comes with 4 mods
Mysterious Captain sells a blue quality Va'Ruun rifle that has the effect of dealing double damage to targets with full health... practically everything falls in one shot 😋
I'm using the emissaries legendary va'ruun rifle, it's called "Eternity's gate" has some insane mods plus a scope.. can't imagine theirs a more powerful weapon in the game, awesome!!
they are bound to a level. if you level up a few times you should find weapons with significantly more damage

There is a level 50-55 planet I found where the base was full of va'ruun enemies. I wish I could remember the name, but they do exist. That's how I farmed a va'ruun legendary rifle that destroys everything.

Because they are particle weapons. Its the same with ship weapons. Particle Beams are absolutely busted. They usually get damage bonuses from multiple perks.
Also the Trader, or mysterious captain as you might know her, has the best weapons in the entite game. Outside of Eternity's Gate. But this weapon is broken. But if you cannot get that yet go to the trader. Her assortment of weapons is crazy

I have a varuun and a shotgun. You get caught up looking for legendary weapons this was just a regular weapon but kills everything
Raiding high level ships can have them regularly. When I board C class ships in space they have them all the time.
I didn’t side with neither the Hunter nor the Emissary at the end of the final mission . I killed both and i got an Eternity Gate from the Emissary . I didn’t finish the game as i wanted to do some more quest that i didn’t finish . I thing the weapon is ok but i have more powerful weapons which i fully modded . My level is over a hundred and i’ve acquired all or most of the VA’ RUUN weapons in legendary and modern then to the max but still go back to my legendary Titanium Magshear fully modded and my fully modded legendary Revenant .
Melee weapons - its is all the same base weapon with a different skin and damage #. Sadly no laser plasma swords.

How are you cloaking when crouched?
That's the 'Chameleon' trait. I got it early in my first playthrough. My 2nd run (which at this moment i'm staying on, I won't 'restart' the game as it were) I actually got it by cheesing the Mantis suit.
2 of the 3 pieces of my Legendary Mantis setup have Chameleon for a trait.
the "Starborn" suit is better for resistances, hands down. But for style and stealth, the Mantis is the best I've got. I also slightly modified the Mantis' Razorleaf ship with a Class B reactor, dual shielded cargo holds, longer fuselage and upgraded weapons and shields. I kept the overall design language though because as far as the lore is concerned, the ship is 'known'.
It's actually quite comical some of the hostile ship interactions you get when decked out in the Mantis outfit (or more accurately, piloting the Razorleaf). worth doing the acquisition mission JUST for those interactions.

@@Slacker28 the mantis set up gets the RNG treatment. The traits it can get are pseudorandom. I re-loaded a save I made before interacting with it 3 times to get that outcome. Not every Mantis suit will have the same traits. But the Chameleon trait is what gives that feature

Best have good in-space combat skills though, cos you often get jumped by 3 class C ships.

i got lucky in NG+ i stole the controband in the Neon Security and Sydicate hideout and went straight to the Trade Authority and he had an inflictor and almost 300 ammo. i only lost 10k credits on that becase you start with 25k from constellation.

i have had one since the mid 20's and I get them all the time. You need to board their ships. I have the rifle and the pistol and finally got a drop for a legendary pistol. But the big bang hits even harder and the numbers are higher. My Big Bang does 126 and 456 compared to the Shard that is 100 and 354 on the rifle. But the number continues to go up on both the rifles and pistol as my level goes up. As in I find stronger guns when boarding their ships. A great place to find high level ships to board is in the Serpentis system. Just go from planet to planet and you will find their ships. But be warned they may show up with 3 or 4 so you have to kill the low levels fast then board the largest one for the best results.
I really thought my first play though these were just starborn weapons
I have 6 legendary pain blades...3 legendary starshards and an epic advanced inflictor..don't use any of them...mainly big bang shotgun for close range and hard target for sniping

Va’Ruun weapons are good but I rotate between them and the Big Bang which I think actually much stronger. My Big bang has 131 phys and 486 energy. I stops everything in its tracks. I killed the starborn in one shot with this
ive had those guns since level 6, the game has been a breeze playing on very hard. those guns 1 shot almost everything
Varun weapons are the easiest to get Varun aren't scarce just raid Varun ships in serpent system 😊
I got a varuune rifle legendary explosive and fire damage forgot the third roll . Got it at level 38 1 point in ballistic and 1 point in particle it does 350 energy and 90 ballistic fully upgraded. I got it in vlads house in the same room as the mutineer.
