The traits Terra Firma, Spaced, Serpents Embrace, and Alien DNA all add flat amounts to your HP and O2. The HP amount is absolutely trivial, and I can only assume the O2 amount is as well. None of these traits are actually good, although Serpents Embrace is at least easy to use with effectively no downside. Introvert and Extrovert however add %cost reductions to O2 usage, which is MUCH more effective. Even so, O2 is largely irrelevant once you get boost packs going (and bind Alt for the forward boost), as you'll almost never even use O2 let alone run out, so if you don't want to take ANY of the above traits it's probably just as well.
did you spend an hour or two in the flight simulator? You can max out your flying skills for spaceships that way when you go to steal a ship won’t be disappointed when you can’t take that jewel of a ship you just came across and the simulator also give you the experience points as you’re doing it. Yes, I love stealing high-powered ships happy hunting
Your just moving around, there is no flight controls, and fighting is kids play, i just loaded up a peace of crap ship with auto turrets, never lost. There is no flight, just taxi rides. Stop living in denial...the penny will drop eventually, unless your a console gamer
You also need to have 3-4 skill points " Banked" before doing that " 1hour simulation run". I did just that and now my flying skill is maxed. It's a nice way to lvl it up fast.
I recommend getting Wanted trait as the enemies you'll encounter have a higher chance to drop legendary items. All I did was craft a bed on a planet and sleep and they always show up.
That started getting annoying to me after a while. I was tired of the relentless bounty hunters showing up nearly every other jump to fight me when I was just trying to dump stuff off at the Wolf Den.
Just a couple of things you missed. In the beginning there are 2 things you can do. First off, you know that big door behind you when you wake up? You can open it. If you kneel down where the master lock is you can get your first basic pack. Sometimes it's a Deimos pack. Second thing, you are right Bounty Hunter is over powered lol. Here's why. You know those Crimson Fleet ships you encounter during the tutorial? You can steal them. Gotta be quick with the first one because it's all on a timer and the other 2 appear. After that though ya you can steal those ships :3. Hope that helps with even more of a hilarious start.
you also missed the duplication ship glitch, so if you take those ships you can duplicate it in the ship creation menu Lbutton and X when selecting a ship then change colour and go back out and save changes, if you did it right the ship gets duplicated allowing you to sell it free of charge, of course its free if you steal a ship, but you need to steal lots more than 1 maybe 2 or 3 whatever is nextr to the ship in the menu it erases your current ship next to the duplicate, so its best to do it where you have stolen ships so when selecting your first 2 ships they don't get erased as the duplication will erase your ships if you only have 1 ship it weill delete that if you have 2 ships it will make 3 but the 2nd will be the duplicate, so what you need is 4 ships and 5 and make sure they are selectable far away from the ships you want to keep. You'll understand it better when you save before hand if there is bad outcome just load up and get more ships. useful to sell and make loads of credits.
The floor trap puzzle is easy... lob 2-3 grenades in there. That will clear out all the turrets without worrying about the puzzles or taking damage. I got a good set of Mantis armor, but I found a better jet pack on Londinian. The space suit is +40 carry and the boost pack is +20. I carry 200 without wasting points into Weight Lifting skill. Put cargo holds on your ship and you will not need to lift more (even without companions). I just might rock Razorleaf the whole game. I have starship design 2 and upgraded almost everything to make. It takes about 100K, but is worth it. Make sure you joint the Vanguard first though so you can unlock the the Vanguard autocannons. They only take 2 energy each so you can put 6 on the ship (as long as you have 3 crew and sell off the lasers and missiles) so just take the best Class A one. The damage is crazy good and with a fire rate of 6.5 and a range of 3500 you will vaporize enemy ships. I have a jump of 22, max speed/maneuverability, I switched the 2 1x2 rooms to workshop and lab and added 2 extra cargo holds (360 each) and a better cockpit... and replaced the 2 smaller engines. The shield is something like 550 with 10% recovery. The reactor gives me 23. This lets me run max shield, max guns, one in Grav drive and the rest in engines. You are super small. If you are wanting more crew use the control room and if you want passengers use the living quarters. Then delete the crafting rooms. The cargo boxes are kind of ugly so I moved the small engines to the top and put the cargo boxes on the bottom. I also removed the landing gear and added a form fitting one like the front gear. It looks better and gives me the extra weapon mounts. The reason for this is EVERYBODY gets this ship and you do not need to put any points into pilot or sip design, bit I recommend at least one level of each. Eventually I will see if I can get the 28Ly range needed for some of the far out stars. There likely is better grav drives and reactors at level 4 ship design.
You can mod the ship cuz it stays the razorleaf even if you rename it. If you look at a docking computer like the one on the vigilance you can see that it’s still registered as the razorleaf. Spacers still run from you every so often even when you mod the ship

I have been putting that mission on wait so far as I went with the Vanguard missions, is it as challenging as the Terrormorph missions? Those Terrormorphs are brutal. I mean, I don't need an early gameship anymore but free ship is free ship right?
@@mavadelono, it's much easier and a much shorter quest line. The ship you get is by far the best A Class ship I've ever come across which is great if you haven't spent the skills for B and C class.
For the Mantis floor puzzle, tell your companion to wait so they don't run all over the place (following you) and trigger turrets. Also for stolen Items, when you sell them, you can go to the buy back option (ones you want to keep like legendaries) purchase them for the price you sold them and they are no longer stolen, they're clean.
some of the best line in star field come from adoring fan when you ask him to turn up his fandom to 10 😂, another best line comes from the random encounter from the " ship's Extended waranty scamers " 😂😂😂
Instead of grav jumping when you have contraband get to the system you want and as your being scanned just enter your paused menu. Go to planet map and select your landing target. It cuts out the scan
it greys out fast travel if you have contraband on the ship, However if you just relieved some pirates of their ship via 12ga discount, sit in the pilot seat, then get up again and try to fast travel to say The Lodge. If its greyed out you still have contraband on the ship. its a good way to find out before finding out the hard way that you should have checked every nook.
Crimson Fleet has possibly one of the better pistols in the game, and it doesn’t take very long as you get it after completing your first Crimson Fleet quest mission - The “Kneehauler” Extremely good stats, modifications and DPS. Ammo MAY sound expensive, but it isn’t worth anything once you start getting the credits going.
Cool..... you CAN do all that.... OR, just do what I did... take the first ship you defeat in cobate(upgrade from frontier), then upgrade it.. by the time I got to Mantis... the Mantis ship was a POS that I sold.. the armor is still good
I see most people starting new characters with Terra Firma or From Space, matching what they believe they'll to the most. But the thuth is, what you'll do the most is to grav jump, so the Va'ruun trait is better than these two as you keep it both on space and on surface
Daymn i wish i knew a lot of this before i started. Like what to pick as abilities and even the skill levels. I had 40 skill points before i even knew what to do with them. And even then i just clicked random stuff. Loloo. But yeh mantis ship is great early quick. But i prefer the Star Eagle, can carry double and guns are better off drop. Do quest to get the Revenant gun, the Keelhauler pistol and Magpulse guns soooo ppwerful. Also buy a Hard Target or Magsniper. That casino code is the same for everybody. Ive yet to get some good armour, im using the varuun helmet and constellation suit still.
I am on XBox X and had some bugs that was making it difficult for me to complete my first time so I wiped everything and started over. This is the first I have heard about the Casino. Will have to give this a go. Thanks
Another great thing about Adoring Fan is that he doesn’t give a shit about what you do. You could kill an innocent person and he’d just whip out his gun ready for battle 😂
You don't have to kill the bounty hunter to get the datura. You can convince her to leave him alone, then just sit in the pilot seat of her ship & claim it
Currently on NG+4 (stopped bc I like the armor). Found a rare Va’runn pistol in Hopetown, it does double damage on the first shot. Best Weapon I’ve had in all of of my playthroughs.
Don't get stuck on the lower NG+ for too long based on weapons though, they get better and better each run! Currently just started my 6th ng and literally within 10 min I got a 1005 damage Magsniper lmao, by far the strongest weapon I've ever got thus far and it happened within the first 10 min lol.
Wrong, very easy tp stop...once you realize its basically teletubbies, No spaceflight, No vehicles, No AI to speak of, No exploration, empty Caves dropped all over the place, vacuous missions and dull Unknowns.. See, its easy to stop.

I got so caught up in how damn cool the Mantis mission is to even think the armour stats could be rerolled, dangit! I was too caught up in a Mandalorian fantasy (I mean c'mon the ship is even called Razorleaf). Great tip, thanks
I just realized why people called me the mantis, not because I once had the ship but the fact I modified it so much I ended up making it quite strong and looking quite different.
You can get the Vampire's Gift unique rifle from a vendor in the vanguard quest line. It's the best rifle in the game in my opinion. You can get it super early and it can easily take you through late game as well.
Talk to Vladimir, and he will invite you to pay a visit to his house. In the basement there is a locked room that holds The Mutineer pistol. With maxed out pistol skill you can one-shot almost everybody and everything.
You don’t have to kill Simon’s ex girlfriend on The Datura to get Ember. She still gives it to you and Simon still gives it back if you spare her life.
If you're into exploits, you can save the game right before stealing it and reload the game for it to turn into an Advanced version for you to steal again.
Did that and its OP… Always a good gun to have ready when you encounter an enemy like those xenoterror things at the start of Vanguard… which totally scared me by its surprise attack and then I pumped 2 mags of adv. Magshear into it… mission done.😅
Somehow I didn't know, after over a hundred hours and reaching level 145, that the Trade Authority buys shady items. I've always just gone to The Key. Other good in for in here for new players and some of it I also didn't know. Nice work.
While watching Centerstrain01's playthroughs, a superb A-Class ship is freely given when you complete the Freestar Rangers quest line that puts to shame the craft acquired from the Mantis mission.
Yup the Star Eagle. By far my favorite ship and I've used it on every single one of my 5 playthroughs lol just started my 6th and I am about to start the questline to get it again lol
A faster start. Go to New Atlantis speak to Sarah get key and start first mission for 17k, go to VC Vanguard start their first mission and do the simulator for 13k, do all the star bases in system and take the contraband, go to sol to nova base starbase clear it and then go to casino clear it and take contraband like you did. Loot everything as you go then fly to the den in wolf and sell everything for 190k. You now have weapons and all the money to buy any weapon and you'll have the mantis quest
Alien DNA is superior to Terra Firma & i know this a starter guide but delay picking up Legendary gear until you are high level as gear stats are based on your level. 🤔
For anyone curious you don’t need to get better armor or weapons for the mantis quest, walked through it with the first pistol and a disassembled side star. Bring lots of ammo, you’ll need it.
One thing about legendaries can have different rolls on the affixes. Like the despondent assassin you found can be totally different than someone else’s. Noticed it when my friend showed me his mantis set compared to mine. Just an fyi for everyone if ya didn’t already know
One thing I would add from the opening sequence in the mines: mine all that ore. You can mine a lot of rare ore before releasing the artifact. No reason you shouldn't collect all that ore before.
No reason other than your waight restrictions at the early stage of the game. Your not going to use it until much further ahead and by that time you'll already know where to get all the rare stuff, so don't waste your carry capacity on rocks 👍
Don't do any missions until you are level 60 & then all the weapons & armour you get will actually mean something. Just set up a base or farm low level bounties on planets for weapons, armour & ammo. For example the most powerful weapon in the game is available near the end of the Pirate quest line but if you do this early or even mid game it will quickly become useless as you can buy more powerful versions, which suks as it has the best skin!
I chose Ronin to start and regret that very quickly. All melee combat sucks and it scales very poorly as you get further into the game. Stealth is always great though. I concur with Bounty Hunter being an optimal choice to pick. Space Combat is harder than Ground with a lot of severe walls. You can't fly bigger, better ships nor use better ship upgrades without the skills and certifications from that side of the skill tree. So you board and clear a big fancy ship. Great. But you can't steal it if you don't have the proper skill leveled up. Bounty Hunter's 3 chosen skills are also all in the Tech Skills tree, which coincidentally is where these critical ship based skills are. You can progress into later tiers much quicker than the other backgrounds to unlock all the ship options earlier than other backgrounds.
Playing on Xbox and my first time playing it through I did do the bounty hunter build as well currently rank 30 and am knocking it all out I’m feeling so good this game is great and it feels like I’m right on track heck yea need to get this outpost thing down 😳😅
I ususally go to Neon, cause the vendor with the eyepatch (can't recall the name off the top of my head) has a decent selection of stealable weapons (including va'ruun inflictors, which still are my weapons of choice together with the beowulf ofc)

I think the kid stuff trait can cause the perma crash on new atlantis. I had a crash where everytime i tried to go to new atlantis my game would crash. I cleared all of caches and did a bunch of stuff to try and fix it. Nothing worked. What i noticed is that my parents never left constellation hq even though i had already recieved my gift from them. Also for stolen Items, when you sell them, you can go to the buy back option (ones you want to keep like legendaries) purchase them for the price you sold them and they are no longer stolen, they're clean.
I just shot the turrets.
@@NobleOmnicidecan you beat them?
@@francisaitken8761 Yep. Sarah ran ahead and set them off so I just shot them one at a time until they exploded. I never solved the puzzle.
some of the best line in star field come from adoring fan when you ask him to turn up his fandom to 10 😂, another best line comes from the random encounter from the " ship's Extended waranty scamers " 😂😂😂
Right before the puzzle on the mantis quest, there was bounty hunter armor that was better than the mantis armor.
Wait... where? I heard about another set "that you should give to your companion" (just repeating what I have been reading) but couldn't find it.
@@mavadelo the room right before you find liveey? in, in the right corner on the floor you'll see it.
Yeah, it's much more sturdy than mantis. Nobody talks about it, so players must've missed it a lot.
Thank you folks :)
Sometimes on shelf in that room
Crimson Fleet has possibly one of the better pistols in the game, and it doesn’t take very long as you get it after completing your first Crimson Fleet quest mission - The “Kneehauler”
Extremely good stats, modifications and DPS. Ammo MAY sound expensive, but it isn’t worth anything once you start getting the credits going.
and the unique magshear you get at the end of the Fleet questline is insane. one of the best guns in the game.
Also give the money to them at the end of the quest line for 250,000 creds instead of the 25k the UC gives you. Crime does pay in this game
Cool..... you CAN do all that.... OR, just do what I did... take the first ship you defeat in cobate(upgrade from frontier), then upgrade it.. by the time I got to Mantis... the Mantis ship was a POS that I sold.. the armor is still good
02:15 Keanu Reeves stealthing by.
Advanced Breach makes a fun stealth sniper build with slugs, suppressor and scope + the other goodies.
Great video, wish I watched before I started, but started day one, so wasn't much videos yet. 🙂
You can convince her to leave him alone, then just sit in the pilot seat of her ship & claim it
I did that.
For the ember gun if you do persuade her instead of killing her you show the gun to sam he will let you keep it
Bruh I knew this a long time ago. I'd recommend finding content that isn't what everyone else already showed
FIRST -----> Starting the game is EASY !...Stopping the game is HARD !
Wrong, very easy tp stop...once you realize its basically teletubbies, No spaceflight, No vehicles, No AI to speak of, No exploration, empty Caves dropped all over the place, vacuous missions and dull Unknowns.. See, its easy to stop.
@@davewills6121 why don't you just go play other games🤷 how sad do you have to be to come on video about a game you Blatantly don't like 🤷 millions disagree.with you dude so go enjoy you life kid instead of being a troll.
I "one more thing"d myself until 6am once.
@@somberjack Gibberish, although fitting for BGS's attempt at a Taxi Sim.
I haven't even acquired the game yet. ,,,, still thinking about it. so I'm reading all these comments about how to play this game. What to do. Where to go. ,, who to talk to. Who to kill. , etc etc etc. But I'm a bit confused. About this CLOUD GAMING THING i don't know any thing about it. ,,,,every time i get to A certain point at the buy $$ part. It says You need cloud to play this game ,,, ????😕😕😕😕 i don't know about this cloud thing. ,,is it good thing or bad. Thing. And it mentions. $18.00 every month. ,,,,,,,????????😕😕😕😕😕😕😕 so what do i do. ?????
i personally play on very hard but the damn ship combat on very hard is absurd. ive got the best weapons and best shield and it gets literally shredded in less than 10s of being shot at
I got so caught up in how damn cool the Mantis mission is to even think the armour stats could be rerolled, dangit! I was too caught up in a Mandalorian fantasy (I mean c'mon the ship is even called Razorleaf). Great tip, thanks
If you finish the deputy quest line you get an even better ship for free. Freestar ranger quest line
I just realized why people called me the mantis, not because I once had the ship but the fact I modified it so much I ended up making it quite strong and looking quite different.
seems i did all of these on accident going through my first playthrough
You can get the Vampire's Gift unique rifle from a vendor in the vanguard quest line. It's the best rifle in the game in my opinion. You can get it super early and it can easily take you through late game as well.
that vendor also sells the op grenade launcher
Talk to Vladimir, and he will invite you to pay a visit to his house. In the basement there is a locked room that holds The Mutineer pistol. With maxed out pistol skill you can one-shot almost everybody and everything.
Did the adoring fan sound like cicero?
You don’t have to kill Simon’s ex girlfriend on The Datura to get Ember. She still gives it to you and Simon still gives it back if you spare her life.
Adoring fan doesn't seem to care if you're the bad guy either, no matter how much you kill and steal he never seems to dislike it in my experience
The most OP weapon you can get early game is the Magshear rifle displayed on the wall in the Hopetown gunshop.
If you're into exploits, you can save the game right before stealing it and reload the game for it to turn into an Advanced version for you to steal again.
Did that and its OP…
Always a good gun to have ready when you encounter an enemy like those xenoterror things at the start of Vanguard… which totally scared me by its surprise attack and then I pumped 2 mags of adv. Magshear into it… mission done.😅
Great video, nicely explained and your easy on the ears👍
Don’t forget about the harvested organs in the well in the security office you could sell those too
Somehow I didn't know, after over a hundred hours and reaching level 145, that the Trade Authority buys shady items.
That ship is bad ass for the free!! I used it for quite some time. After I was up to 500,000k I figured I'd grab a B level one.
Yup the Star Eagle. By far my favorite ship and I've used it on every single one of my 5 playthroughs lol just started my 6th and I am about to start the questline to get it again lol
How do you assign weapons to the dead buttons
0:47 "OP bounty hunter" *screen shows beast hunter instead* 😂
thx for this, really made me wanna start NG+
I think the contraband chest in neon refills after a set time
Don't miss this. Ita great but not better than the new game plus suit.
my fav trait is the wanted as it makes it so ecliptic mercs hunt you and that can mean feww weapons, armor and ships
Just an fyi for everyone if ya didn’t already know
Is it just me or does the adoring fan sound like Cicero from skyrim
Could be bethesda do like to use the same VAs but he was the adoring fan from oblivion
or just spend 935 credits on iron aluminium lead etc and build a base on Basel III - b. get unlimited frames/magnets, then sell them on
One thing I would add from the opening sequence in the mines: mine all that ore.
Literally played through the entire game and haven't needed ore
Playing on Xbox and my first time playing it through I did do the bounty hunter build as well currently rank 30 and am knocking it all out I’m feeling so good this game is great and it feels like I’m right on track heck yea need to get this outpost thing down 😳😅
Man's out here trying to peddle the 3 worst traits right next to the religion ones 😂
I ususally go to Neon, cause the vendor with the eyepatch (can't recall the name off the top of my head) has a decent selection of stealable weapons (including va'ruun inflictors, which still are my weapons of choice together with the beowulf ofc)
They fixed the display maniquine bug. No gap anymore
:( I was just trying and came back here to see if anyone else had posted haha
cant have anything fun
Man that adoring fan is the annoying elf that pops up in Elder Scrolls Oblivion at Imperial city 😊
If you go into the Casino you should have gotten the Secret Outpost slate way before going to Nova Galactic
What is the spacesuit in the thumbnail with an arrow pointing to it saying 'Don't miss this'?
Where is that?
It's click bait.
It's click bait to get your view. Tbh, any creators that use misleading concepts on their thumbnail for views are permanently marked for me. It's an easy red flag to avoid that specific content creator.
@laserbeto910 I figured it was click bait and have a similar zero tolerance viewpoint. Just wanted to ask the question in case he was honest. Apparently not.
I think what causes the crash was recieving said gift twice.
I don't remember a floor puzzle in the mantis base. I wish I knew these things before starting
@jimcecil4558 I tried it so manytimes and still got shoot-TYRANNIS had some advice just to take it slow.
@@francisaitken8761 if you got master lockpicking just tag the terminal next to the gate to turn the turrets off
You can persuade Simon and he lowers his price to 1000 and still gives you the mission, you also forgot to mention the TA item 'Laundering' stolen items
also, the Freestar Collective quest line gives you a free ship
I'm only on my first playthrough.
Kid Stuff seems like a huge waste of money.
How do you "use" it? How do you benefit from it?
Also several of those Npcs can be pickpocket ed for nearly 1000 credits or a Key to their stash
I accidentally missed the star yard,I was flying from planet to planet in sol during the first mission what's it's name. I think old neighbor hood, any way I flew to Neptune and bang ran into the uc Guy you are looking for and that ended the quest. So anybody new don't go to Neptune before the star yard or it will skip it in the quest.
I can’t sell anything to the red mile bar it doesn’t gove me the option. Is there a reason for this?
They have fixed the display case in the basement, so now you have to pick the lock for the Mark I armor 😕
On PC it still works. Just have to get your reticle between the glass and door on the mannequin's arm.
Did it today on Xbox
Same number for everyone for that jackpot
Unique ship. Settlers Hope. Ver. 1…2…3 thx
I got a new varuun hymn and I love it best cargo ship once I outfitted it
Davis in Akila city gave me a Bridger not a sniper rifle
How do I get those damage tickers?
Those are in game settings.
The armor hack is not working after the last patch . At least for me .
So what is the armor u say we don’t want to miss that’s in the thumb nail ?
wait what?? you can put weapons on that menue?? 0:08 o.O started playing 2w ago and had no friggin idea.. thought you only could add med packs and such.. maan thats going to make things abit easier roflmao
hello on a playthough is the cansio station i had the same winning numbers that u had
I had the same jackpot code.
Why does the adoring fan remind me of Cicero?
I just skipped the hell out of the floor puzzle, just ran straight through before any thing had a chance to hurt me
it's Vol 2, II is Roman numeral for 2
Aww its a shame datura's captain looks hot, why we have to kill her? she might be a good gurl
Nice video, as good as trash. Good job
Where do you enter the code for the jackpot? 🤷🏻♂️
6:30
After you locate office head out office door straight ahead , drop down to main level furthest wall to the right, you’ll see a square inlet, go in and look up, float up through port and the through the least inlet. Computer is on left wall ahead and stash (not locked) will be to the right.
I did it, but I didn’t get the rifle called the desponded assassin all i got was credits
Do the freestar questline get a free ship from the rangers great starter ship
How do I get into the red mile hotel room?
The jackpot numbers are always the same.
