Here is a little tip that I use for getting the "crotch" correct. Use a sloper or pattern that you know works for you. Lay the garment so front and back seam are opposite (laying left and right - so you will not cut them out at the same time), match up your front waist with the pattern and cut that crotch out follow the depth of the pattern and do the same on the back. This way you know the final fit will work. I love seeing your creativity - gives me lots of idea. Thanks.
Genius. This particular DYI is not only great for all skill levels but for all body types as well. Honey child, you hit it out of the ballpark with this one.
I would have more confidence on where to put the crotch with another pair of favorites as a guide when I start cutting. I also would LOVE if you could do a tutorial on putting pockets on/in existing pants so I can have my phone in my pocket. So many dress pants and pajamas lack back pockets and it’s such a pain. I am thinking a pocket Velcro’d in, or stitched to the waistband or even stitched to the surface?? Loved this video!
wow, what a perfect idea for all those skirts in the thrift store! I just love how you wing everything, so much less intimidating than measuring and calculating
This woman is an education in ruining perfectly good fabric. For goodness sake, measure from your crotch to your centre back. If you cut the crotch too shallow, there isn’t much you can do about it.
a great reminder; I have been wanting to turn some maxi dresses into jumpsuits for a cpl years now! I love how you simplify things; it gives me that extra boost of encouragement to just get it done..
I learned tailoring in the eighties, when, with my sewing experience, ( I designed and made my own clothes in High school , friends wanted to borrow them ! )I was hired to be a Tailors assistant. I worked on mens suits mainly, what an invaluable education Love your work !
Love this one SO much. Great tips in here for beginners or people like me who have been doing this forever & still don’t really know what they’re doing lol
Found your diy love the simplicity and ease of turning skirt into pants, new subscriber here. I crochet, I make jewelry. But never been able to do much sewing. I think you will be my teacher
I love this and have literally started doing this with one of my skirts right now! Tip for those of you with bigger booties like me... If you aren't sure how low the crotch needs to start, use a pin or chalk or something to mark it 🎶 in the back and in the front 🎶 so you can pull the back waistband up the right amount to make the marks line up, then cut away :D Thanks Orly! I wore this skirt occasionally, but as big swooshy comfy pants that won't fly up on breezy days, I'll wear them heaps more 🎉
This is my first time finding you and because I'm on my phone I'm having a really hard time subscribing but I have like this video and watched it twice. I have always wanted to turn dresses and skirts and I did it the long way because I did it from my mindset. Oh my goodness thank you this is good for me!
you could probably find a pair of pants that you like where they sit on your waist/hips and use that length as a ref. Provably also start lower/closer to the bottom of the leg though, bc you can always cut away more, but adding fabric back can be difficult.
I love your mind. It’s exploding with such creativity I’m left wondering ‘how does this woman Do this?’ She not only instructs in her hilarious way, she inspires me to not be afraid to be me. Great video as usual. So pretty. Outta the park again Orly. Happy Mother’s Day 💐💐💐
New subscriber here! This is such a great idea, for those of us who like the look of skirts but the feel of pants! Also, super great that you use thrift store finds not new
Orly, you’re a genius!!! They all look so cool and you’d never know what they were before. I love wide legged pants, but won’t pay a high amount for them. Now I can take a maxi skirt and make my own. I just found you and I’m so happy I did. Peace ✌🏽
Perfect! I'm a novice sewer and I've been looking for a way to turn skirts into trousers because I seldom wear skirts. Those stretchy black ones looked fantastic!
i finally gathered the energy to relearn how to use a sewing machine after years of not touching one… and this is my first project!! such an awesome tutorial, i’m stoked and lucky to have found it 😭
I remember a great video from last (?) summer, where you did the exact opposite thing...turning loose pants from similarly brightly patterned fabrics into skirts! It's so much fun, how we can customize our finds that way, isn't it?
That's great but how do you measure the crouch to the waist . To make sure it fits under right and how much space are you to leave if you have a big bum.
Best take a pair of existing pants and use them as a pattern. If you have a more extreme figure, it might be worth the effort to ask a friend, to help with pinning and fitting the pants properly.
I might have missed it, but how do you determine where you cut (where the inseam would start)? I have quite a few skirts that I don't wear that would make awesome wide leg pants. Thank you. Brilliant!
Love all 3 of these! I just subscribed. Saw another video of yours turning T shirts into baby pants- really loved those as well. As a beginner I haven’t quite figured out my machine but I’m excited to try all of these up cycles! Thanks so much.
I am very new to sewing, dont know how measurements work either but I love your videos because you simplify daunting tasks, lol (Thank you!) I have however tried to make a jumpsuit from a dress but something went terribly wrong🙊 and im hoping i can still save it in some way. After sewing it i tried it on and now its pulling up in the crotch area. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Mother’s Day ❤ I have been wanting some pants just like this! Must go thrifting…. As a beginner what is the best way to measure for the crotch? Put in on and pin where mine is then determine how much lower I want the pants crotch to be or is there a better way to measure? Thank you so much. I have loved your channel for years and it keeps getting better! 😊
I just put a cool dress I love the patterns but never wear in my "diy projects" bag and Orly drops this video. Lol ok I'm taking the sign I gotta do this!! 😍 so useful!!
How do you decide how far down from the waist to start cutting?
Here is a little tip that I use for getting the "crotch" correct. Use a sloper or pattern that you know works for you. Lay the garment so front and back seam are opposite (laying left and right - so you will not cut them out at the same time), match up your front waist with the pattern and cut that crotch out follow the depth of the pattern and do the same on the back. aw that makes me so happy!! thank you!

Love this one! So many times I’ve thought…I wish this skirt was pants instead. Now it can be!

Love your work !
love that!!
Love-love-love that Billabong pant. And when you tied up the ankle it got even better.
Look out Lululemon because Orly’s grey pants are taking over! Their so cute and look very comfy. All of them do! Happy Mothers Day Orly💃🏻
There are always so many skirts at the thrift store people pass over because they aren’t figure flattering. This gives them NEW LIFE!!!♥️
yes!! I'm constantly checking them out now
LOVE the second pair. Looks amazing.
Hi ! I love that you show the errors that could happen along the way, why it is an error and how to correct it. Love your videos 🧡
Im so glad that's helpful, Ill keep including it

Love this one SO much. Great tips in here for beginners or people like me who have been doing this forever & still don’t really know what they’re doing lol
I thought I was the only one with forever skill and still working it out.
I absolutely LOVE the simplicity & ease of your ideas/ designs for someone (like me) with zero experience!! It makes it fun & attainable, THANK YOU!!
I can’t even use a sewing machine, but you so inspire me to learn! I love all of these! ❤️🤘🏼
The black one seems to really suit your style. Love this idea.

Yeaha❤ Thank you for listening to my calls. Love it💖💖💖 Happy Mothers Day💖
LOVED the first skirt to pants and then you tied the bottoms!!!🤗🙌🎉
I love this and have literally started doing this with one of my skirts right now!

thank you! great tip!
I love your use of 🎶😂. My plan is to just use a pair of palazzo pants that I have to make sure I have enough booty room😉
Live this idea! The second one is my fav and I have the perfect skirt that I never wear to do it ☺️
Yes yes! How did you know? I’ve been wanting to know how to do this. Thank you!!❤
I have been wondering about this very thing for quite a while now 😊 thank you so much!
Yes! I have a piece I’ve been wanting to do this to, but couldn’t find a tutorial I liked. Thank you Orly!

This is my first time finding you and because I'm on my phone I'm having a really hard time subscribing but I have like this video and watched it twice. I have always wanted to turn dresses and skirts and I did it the long way because I did it from my mindset. Oh my goodness thank you this is good for me!
I just discovered Your channel and I am instantly obsessed! Love it! Thank You!
Happy Mother's day Orly
Where have you been all my life??? I can not wait to try these ideas!!!
Wow. Those all look amazing.
Great vid as always Orly! Quick question - how do you determine how high to cut the crotch seam?
you could probably find a pair of pants that you like where they sit on your waist/hips and use that length as a ref. Provably also start lower/closer to the bottom of the leg though, bc you can always cut away more, but adding fabric back can be difficult.
I would either pin it on you and then cut it a little lower to accommodate for the back. Or use a pair of pants you like as a guide
So talented 🍾
Wow....thankyou so very much for this...I've learned some amazing things that I plan on implementing right away. 💖💫
Really cute! I love the blk and why striped skirt/pants. Great mods!
They all look amazing, Love the jumps suit idea. I must try to make my self one!!! ❤💖💝 Thanks Orly. Hope you have a wonderful day 💗

Thank you so much. I have loved your channel for years and it keeps getting better! 😊
Yea I would pin in the front where you want it to end and then add about 3" for the back
I just put a cool dress I love the patterns but never wear in my "diy projects" bag and Orly drops this video. Lol ok I'm taking the sign I gotta do this!! 😍 so useful!!
oooooh its time!
EXACTLY! And about my level of sewing!
I find lots of cute skirts that i wouldn't wear but as PANTS....YES!
A stack of old skirts have just been predesignated! Thanks much, ❤
That's so awesome ❤.
