For one dress I used 4 squares with side 117 - my bust is 84 cm. I think for Bust 85-95 сm 4 squares needed with side 120 х120 сm Bust 95 -110 4 squares needed with side 130 х130 сm Bust 110 х 120 4 squares needed with side 140 х140 сm
A quick "back of the envelope" conversion of metres to yards would be roughly : bust 85-95cm/33.5" - 37.5"= 4.8mt/5.25yd; bust 95-100cm/37.5" - 39.3/8th" = 5.2mts/5.75yds; bust 110-120cm/43.25" - 47.25" = 5.6mts/6.25yds hope this helps 😊
I have made 2 of these, a shorter white muslin and a long blue paisley and they are my favourite summer dresses. Thank You so much for your time and your skill. Blessings to Humanity We Rise
@@cartomsX3 Instead of making it with squares, I made it with rectangles. Long side horizontal. Long side being the one you fold in to make the triangles. I practised on a small piece (10th size) until i got the dimensions correct. Hope this helps. Many Blessings to You.

Amazing, no zips, buttons, ties, gathering, elastic! Fantastic design, I would leave the hankerchief hem if I was tall enough, it's pretty too. The best part is it's self lined, with no difficulty, thanks! 😊 💜
Love your video. Cute model for the dress. I like how you used your scissors to iron open the seams. So cool. The dress is beautiful. You explained how to make the dress very well. I enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Such an easy dress to make that can be versatile. It can be made to look as casual or as elegant as you want it to be, depending on which fabric and embellishments you use. TYSM for sharing this video with us. Looks gorgeous - even with being modeled by your cute little bear !!! 😊. Love your channel and i hope you're still making videos for us as i find them very informative. 😉
The sharp V neckline is such a great contrast with the flowy dress. I’m definitely going to try this, in a patterned print, maybe linen or rayon challis. ❤
I had just looked at a video for the same dress but each quadrant was cut out alone. I love your version and I am so glad you made a bear sized dress. It went quickly and made perfect sense. Thank you
This is very clever and so easy! This would be wonderful in a summer weight linen or another drapey type fabric - rayon maybe? I would also consider leaving the "points" at the hem for different look. Also a great palette for machine embroidery embellishment. This has so many possibilites
Hello Lena, Thank you for this very detailed demonstration! It reminded me of when my grandmother would create & sew beautifully small dresses that were sewn of glittery & shimmering fabrics - for my Barbie dollars & other dolls. You are very creative to have use this size dress for this tutorial! It really makes it easy to understand & visualize!! Thank you!!
ok sorry no. I rarely say anything negative but what she made, what is in thumbnail and on the tiny bear is not the same at all?? This is really unfair to beginners besides a waste of fabric. Not necessary to sew like 4 tents or cones unless you have really see through fabric then cut the points off? Just go find a 4 piece pattern similar to this dress. If you have a top/blouse that fits you can trace that and extend or widen the skirt part. If you really wanted it lined just cut the 4 sections double. You could sew french seam style to hide the seams. Hem as you like. I REALLY dont see any advantage making cones then cutting off point? If you did need more coverage and wanted double lets say for gauze material you could even make 2 dresses and wear different colors like slips. Me...sewing 60 plus years.
I really love the clever design. At first I didn't understand where it was going with the double layer, I thought you were going to cut it again on a different spot. But I really like it that the dress is self lined, it gives it more substance when using thin fabric. Also, this pattern gives so much easy possibilities to indivdualise. As you mention, you could add pockets, or sundress it by connecting the front and back panels with string. You can add a sash to tie round the waist, if you want it less loose. I think I will add crochet sleeves and perhaps crochet at the hem. Could even crochet the hem of the inside layer and hem the outside normal, thus creating the illusion of a underdress (with or without ruffles). And match the neckline. You have inspired me greatly with this pattern and the tutorial. Thank you so much. I am subscribing.
This is simply glorious. Thank you for such a clear video of a BEAUTIFUL dress! I made this out of material from an old white cotton sheet and it turned out wonderfully. I am tall so I left the hanky hem. My young daughter is also just beginning to learn to sew, and is in the process of making one for her favorite doll. What a fun project for us both. :)
❤Sew beary cute. 😊 The dress looks great on you. Your video was fun to watch. You made it easy to understand. I can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic. Everything in this video including your words/voice makes it a worthwhile watching experience. Can't wait to try this project. Thank you so very much.❤
Very nice and ingenious way to show the process.I was waiting for the hem part and hoping she will make it as the end product. Perhaps a rounded finishing would have been batter? I understand that we can have that as an option. Thanks for posting.
From Happy,Pearl and I, we all will have a dress like this. Didn't even know Happy was a cross dresser. I'll make him one too. Thanks for sharing. Though at first too much fabric, modesty is back. Thank you.
It’s a good dress! I’m in Chicago Illinois and I’ve been watching large women walking around with their dresses barely reaching their bottoms bc they’re sized badly. It’s a pretty flowy dress that must feel like getting away with wearing a nightgown. I like it.
You can Gigi! I’m not a super confident sewer but one step at a time is what I tell myself and I learn as I try. I also tend to use thrifted or upcycled fabrics so it’s not the end of the world if I make a mistake in the process.
Good idea, best to practice first. Material can be very expensive, and I’d hate to waste beautiful fabric. The dress look’s amazing, I love the deep V neck line at the back. 😊
Thank you so much Lena, it is a good base to build upon, can enrich it with sleeves, trousers and a scarf or a hood for a full look. Thank you, when I have the opportunity I would like to make a similar dress. Maybe I would go for a shorter style, since it is safe to do so with the trousers, and more practical. Thinking about the 'muslim -style' salwar kameez. God bless you. Bye.
No. The design depends on a square that is folded into a triangle. The only way to get a smaller size would be to reduce the overall size of the squares used (see original artist's pinned comment - she discusses measurements) and, maybe making a narrower shoulder strap and smaller arm holes, but I imagine you can only go so narrow before you won't be able to wear it.
A lovely dress, and with such simplicity of it's design, why such complexity in putting it together, was it so as to incorporate lining without the extra cutting?
Very beautiful! Thank you for this video. If I would like to make the dress less voluminous, which shape would I have to use? Rectangles instead of squares?
Since the dress becomes self lined with 4 sqs could it be done with only two squares so it won’t be lined? Trying to figure that out since I have limited fabric for the dress I want.
For one dress I used 4 squares with side 117 - my bust is 84 cm.
I think for
Bust 85-95 сm 4 squares needed with side 120 х120 сm
Bust 95 -110 4 squares needed with side 130 х130 сm
Bust 110 х 120 4 squares needed with side 140 х140 сm
A quick "back of the envelope" conversion of metres to yards would be roughly :
bust 85-95cm/33.5" - 37.5"= 4.8mt/5.25yd; bust 95-100cm/37.5" - 39.3/8th" = 5.2mts/5.75yds;
