Thank you for the comment, I’m trying to post every Saturday morning a Garmin video. As good as they are the menu’s are not user friendly, have a great day!!!!
There are others in the Garmin Sonar series playlist that go over waypoint marking, display, etc. getting the transducer set properly is important to getting sharp images

This was a helpful video! Hopefully I remember to change my on screen settings to brightness from range. The range one on side and clear was giving me fits and doing all sorts of weird stuff. You forgot perhaps the most important one that almost nobody else has covered, how to get the on screen menu buttons to go into hiding to give you another 1/2" of screen.
I agree, some functions some to have a mind of there own depending on the screen combo configuration I use. That’s the reason I picked the 4 combos I use the most and stick with them using the shortcut keys. Had problems with getting the overlay numbers, navigation tape etc to act the same in each combo. Can you elaborate on getting rid of the numbers to get another 1/2 screen? That sounds interesting, not sure I’ve run across that. Thanks for the comments,
@@DoubleTFishing I was having the same troubles with the overlay #s and after messing with it for what seemed like hours I got that menu line to go away. I wish I could remember what it was called and how far into the menus I was but I can't. I will try to figure out exactly how I did it and let you know.
Please do I would appreciate it, like I said once I set the combos on the shortcut keys I concentrate on those views, the phrase you used “quirky” is very accurate lol. I noticed if I get into a factory combo all the settings I made in my custom combos don’t always take affect, thank you

Good videos. One question if I may. Do you have any videos on adding lake maps to a 73 sv 17 thousand lakes loaded and the two lakes I like to fish are not installed which are center hill lake and Percy Priest lake here in tenn. you do a great job Tks
No don’t have a video but did you download that region? To check you can open your active captain app, go to the chart and zoom in on the lake then press the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner and select download chart. See if the contours appear, similarly using the map on your chartplotter

I’m glad, these are great units. Anything else your wanting to know about? I like making the videos looking for ideas. Did you look through the playlist? There are a few more. Get the transducer right that is key, there’s a video on that also. Not an expert but I’ve played with them a lot, the manual isn’t much help. Thanks for the comment!!!
Amazing video. Do you know how to adjust the on screen keys on the UHD2 models ?? 3 min 30s on the video. there is no longer this option i can on the new model and cannot find it in the manual : (
You do not show how to change traditional sonar to be the default at top of screen. Mine is set on range on both traditional & ClearVu. Please explain how to change. Thank you.
The GT56 is pretty much “top of the line” for traditional, clear and side vu sonar in the Garmin series. Connecting a second transducer with a splitter or black box network wouldn’t help because it would make you select which transducer you wanted to use for each screen and could cause interference in deeper water
I just bought two Garmin units. Both Echomap UHd 93 sv. I can not find the traditional color for 2d sonar you have in this video. Am I missing something?
As far as the picture quality you can’t really dial it in until you are on the water. In the video you see me change it from the previous fishing trip. Too many variables, I change mine during the day sometimes as sunlight changes. If you set up the the on screen adjustment it’s pretty easy. Just as a start point 80-85 should get you in the ball park. Thanks for the comment, have a great day!!
May I have the contact information to request your spread sheet data? Greatly enjoy our presentations. I"m new to the GARMIN 12 ULTRA PLUS LVS34 TRANSDUCER . Thank you, please reply.
Sure, I don’t have the livescope yet but you are welcome to the basic setup sheets. Email doubletfishing@outlook.com and I’ll reply back with the sheets attached. Let me know the model of the chartplotter
Have you noticed that when using combos with maps the traditional and down/side scan screens are slowed and very choppy? It is on mine and I can tell at the 4 min 37 sec mark yours is very similar. It's pretty terrible and my Lowrance units would never do that.
The processor in the Echomap is not as fast as the Ultra Series. I’m not an expert but when I downloaded the preloaded maps onto an SD card to view in Home Port it took almost an hour, and we all know how slow the WiFi synch takes so I’m guessing with maps running in a combo the processor is likely straining to keep up. Thanks for commenting, have a great day!!
Hi Tim, you can use the +\- buttons on the top right to manually adjust the depth range, it may revert back into auto each time you turn on the traditional but once you manually set it with the buttons it should stay there. There’s also a range setting in the menu. I wonder if your clear view is in bottom lock under the zoom settings, if it is you will see a “BL” under the depth indication.
I have a GT52 transducer on the trolling motor with 455KH and 800KH both clearvu and sidevu. On the Transom I have a GT54 transducer with 840KH clearvu and 455KH AND 1120KH on sidevu. There was a change after the last software update. It would be simpler if I had both the same right!!!! Thanks for the comment, have a great day
No I would us it first, the original owner may have it dialed in and set up for that boat already. I would go ahead and download any updates from Garmin through ActiveCaptain or Garmin express. Disable the sonar and put it in simulator to get the color pallets you want, scroll speeds in auto and delete the active track.and if your new to Garmin you might turn off any auto zoom functions. Now as for waypoints, saved tracks and saved routes you can get rid of those so they don’t clutter up your user data and slow down the update process. Go ahead and copy the user data onto a clean 32GB sd card if you think you may want it in the future. It’s pretty easy just take out the active captain card and put in the new card select save to card, name it and it will save all the stored waypoints, tracks and routes. Sorry got long winded but yes I’d delete all his user data so you can find yours easier. His card may have a map upgrade on it if he bought it. You can use Wi-Fi and your phone with active captain or pop the sd card in a computer using Garmin express to see what new firmware and maps are available
