Today we're going to talk about vitamin K2, and I'm going to share the best source of vitamin K2.
While vitamin K1 supports blood clotting, vitamin K2 supports calcium transportation. Vitamin K2 works with vitamin D. Vitamin K2 and vitamin D3 are important to take together.
Vitamin D raises calcium in the blood, but vitamin K2 pushes calcium from the blood into the bone. Vitamin K2 also uses LDL cholesterol as part of its transportation process.
The health benefits of vitamin K2:
• It supports healthy bones
• It supports strong teeth
• It helps prevent calcium from building up in the arteries, cartilage, and joints
• It helps support healthy blood sugar levels
• It helps generate ATP (energy)
• It supports healthy testosterone levels
• It supports the brain
Vitamin K1 and vitamin K2 are fat-soluble-low-fat diets may lead to a vitamin K2 deficiency. Cheese, especially hard cheese, is a rich source of vitamin K2, with Muenster cheese at the top of the list.
Other foods high in vitamin K2:
• Grass-fed butter
• Goose liver
• Duck liver
• Duck fat
• Eel
• Beef liver
• Lamb's liver
• Ground beef
• Grass-fed hot dogs
• High-quality bacon
• Pork
• Sauerkraut
• Cod liver oil

Gosh I wish this was taught 40 years ago. I’m one of the foolish that listen to my doctor not to eat any fats. Well at 65 had heart attack 4 stents diabetic and now by learning from you my A1c is 6.2. That is after one year of “ cleaning “ up the way I eat. Please keep teaching we all need you. Thank you 🤗🥰
If anyone should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for health and nutrition, it should be you Dr. Berg. Thanks for your dedication and information.

Agree. But in Brazil(country), we have Lair Ribeiro, very smart too. He's studied in the United States.
So so true
👋🏻
Just a quick thank you so much. I’m 64, fine boned, fair and Scottish ancestry. I’m up early here in Canada to start my fermenting of 6 cabbages for saurkraut. I suffer from osteoporosis, low energy and weakened muscles and sore joints. My family dr says I’m just getting old. Since watching your videos for the past month I have felt the results of cutting out the inflammatory grains from my diet. No breakfast cereal, no bread (except gluten free). I’ve been supplementing with k2 (120mg,), vit D (3,000 ui) and calcium. I’m picking up my beef marrow bones today to make bone broth. I’m determined to reverse the effects of osteo so that playing with grandchildren and simply going on a hike is once again possible for me. So far, so good! I’m sharing with other “mature” people I know so again, thank you.
Fiona, I'm 60, similar background. I've found ditching most carbs, especially grains, made a heap of positive difference. On the bone broth here, too.
When making bone broth, making sure you cook them for very long time, about 8 hours, to extract the benefit. I’ve read somewhere said that somehow bone broth doesn’t contain much calcium, not sure if that’s true though, hopefully someone could fix me if that’s wrong. I’ve been making bone broth as well, since I was able to find 100% grass fed product from a local farmer, grass and hay fed.
YES Fiona, you CAN reverse a lot of aging and enjoy exercising again! Daily activity is the key along with good diet, which you can change even after decades. I did and this guy gives great information. I wish you the best and you are in a lot of happy company!

If the government says not to eat it, eat it. If the government says “safe for human consumption “ do NOT consume it! Speaking of things not to be consumed, my mother paid almost $6 for a jar of “low fat” mayonnaise yesterday. I just shook my head. 🤢

Sauerkraut
Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage with a distinctive sour flavor. Like with natto, this fermentation process offers many health benefits, like promoting good gut health and boosting immunity. With 2.75 micrograms per half-cup, sauerkraut is also a great source of vitamin K2.

I'm determined to fix my gum and teeth (before getting worse) so I did a lot of readings to find cheeses with the highest amount of vit K2 which are Muenster, Gouda, Jarlsberg cheese (and some that are uncommon in the U.S.). Cheeses from raw milk have higher vit K2 than from pasteurized milk. The following cheeses have the lowest K2 (almost zero): cheddar, parmesan, blue cheese, mozzarella, brie. I had facet joint arthritis in my back, I was stiff as a board and always achy. Started taking D3/K2, I guess 5 years ago now. One of my fructose-free daily snacks is sauerkraut. Cheap and healthy. :-)
EXCELLENT source of Vit C!!
Interesting idea. I’m going to use it.
Love my daily sauerkraut too. But most store-bought krauts are not fermented for long, which is key to K2. And they're pasteurized, which kills off their good probiotic bacteria. So now I'm making kraut from raw cabbage and fermenting it. There are lots of videos on that. You can get raw kraut at some stores, but it's pricey.
Do not use sauerkraut in a can. It has been pasteurized.
@@kathyirwin6854 yep. Home-made sauerkraut is the best. All you need: organic kraut, clean salt and spices in a glass or earthenware jar. Nature will do the tricks. Fermentation is life.

Hey Doc, you do all these videos on all these individual vitamins and they’re very knowledgeable I love them. Thank you for doing these videos. But I noticed that some multivitamins don’t have everything in it that you talk about
You really need to buy individual constituents and combine as your research informs you, personal preference.
People get some vitamins from their diet, other vitamins require supplements.
Since everyone is unique in terms of food choice and rates of absorption then supplementation will be individual meaning multivitamins are too generic to be useful.
Buy separate, tailor them to your needs and and know that the quality is there depending on what you decided to purchase based on your research.

Where to buy Natto in Australia?? I’ve looked probably almost everywhere.
I actually take Nattokinase in capsule form and would prefer to keep on this way but don’t trust whether there’s really much Natto in them.
Many brands were tested once and they found this was true
@@nurse580 I had a 2 kilo bag of Nattokinase powder I used up over a year ago. Got it through Amazon, and it's not available now. It was definitely possible to overdose with that, and I did a few times. The good thing was it became quite obvious it was doing something. I don't feel much with capsules. Haven't had any in a while. Maybe take a few, too many at once, and see what happens. The discomfort will tell you it's active.
@@nurse580 some nattokinase supplements have the k2 removed because people want nattokinase for the anti-clotting properties for their cardiovascular flow, and k2 facilitates blood clotting.
@@moondog7694 Vitamin K2 does NOT facilitate blood clotting. Vitamin K does. K2 is fat soluble vitamin and is poorly named. :(
So interesting that you mentioned your dad liking Limburger. My father was a Limburger lover, too. He also like to snack on smoked Chubs ( a kind of fish you buy in Wisconsin) and pumpernickel bread. And port salute cheese.
You are doing a grand job informing people to be healthier. Although you do mention it by name, your video is also helping people to curtail atherosclerosis which is dangerous for causing strokes.
I switched over to goats cheese after my total LDL went up and then realised it was a safer bet as goats are grass fed , they also make the cheese you recommended.
I break my fast with goats cheese, black olives take D3 and Magnesium then have Kimchi and Sauerkraut.
Regarding the cholesterol, I asked for a full profile and there's a lot to take in and it can be overwhelming; but glad I tuned in for this you have put my mind at ease.
Interesting that you mention total LDL as some components are not detrimental. I refer you to Dr Paul Mason here on UA-cam regarding this subject to determine if further action is necessary.
@@seattlesix9953 Yes Paul Mason gave a timely talk the same week I got my results on LDL and how women over the age of 50 seem to make more LDL from eating Cheese.
There's only 1 peak event measured @ 267.8. The small dense LDL 3 was the only one evident @ 0.43 (according to the lab that's high), the rest were not detected. Trigs had slightly increased and HDL dropped.
I also factored in ill health for 6 months and totally restricted to doing exercise, plus I was on cortisol and Dr Mason mentioned the effects of it on LDL.
I don't use it anymore and have switched to making balms from the garden.
I am hoping this will make a difference and show on the next test.
i have goose fat, and beef dripping that comes together in a jar from local superstore. very helpful information sir.
in 2010 i attended one of your conferences in Virginia; once i did an exercise that you told us to do; pressing on an area under your rib cage; to induce sleep; it worked and i was hooked-on-you ever since; you are AMAZING! there is not anyone in the UA-cam sphere that can come close to your genius.
Cool reminder! I’m going to his!!❤❤❤
Thanks again for your fabulous work. Excellent doctor for the people. Looking great guy! God bless you
