    Great no nonsense tutorial. Thank you! Those fees for updates sound like they're illegal or should be and are incredibly lame!!! I just purchased this software and had no idea about paying for updates. The software works great but the companies business practices don't seem so great.

    • @rodrrico

      Thank you for your kind comments and for watching. Overall the software does what I need it to do professionally, so as much as I don't like the ongoing fees (of which I haven't had to pay any additional since making this video), it enables me to get better results for my clients. So I'll continue to use the software until something cheaper and better comes along.

    I've been dependent on Neat Video because I film with the GH5. Even when I light my environments well...noise creeps in at 600 ISO pretty quickly even with a wide open F 1.7 lens. My problem with NEAT is the heavy rendering it places on my high end MSI Trident gaming rig. It will take me 8 hrs to export a 2 minute video that has NEAT embedded throughout. Saves my footage, but what a nightmare. Any advice?

    • @rodrrico
      @rodrrico  4 роки тому

      Hmm, are you rendering in your timeline before exporting? I always do that. Also make sure you have hardware rendering / encoding enabled in your export settings. Premiere sometimes defaults to software which will take forever to output.
      What type of footage are you trying to output and what type is the source footage / what camera?

    • @ramymelhem
      @ramymelhem 4 роки тому +1

      @@rodrrico I film with a gh5. My footage is all filmed in 4k and interpreted into 23.976. I also export in 4k. I don't render the neat footage because 1. It takes forever to render it. 2. Even if I did render it, any minor tweak to any applied effect such as lumetri, scaling, opacity, time remapping or even simply shifting the clip on the timeline resets the entire render and requires the clip to be re-rendered hence wasting even more time... And 3. Exporting rendered footage from the timeline lowers the quality of the final export.

    • @rodrrico
      @rodrrico  4 роки тому

      @@ramymelhem I hear you. Though when you're about to export the final version, try rendering any red clips on your timeline. Other than that, I think it has to be something to do with your Premiere hardware encoding settings. Try and set Mercury nVidia Cuda as an option for video rendering - if possible in your setup. That should help. Also Neat Video 5.2 is out and has some performance improvements. Let me know how you get on. I hope this helps!

    • @ramymelhem
      @ramymelhem 3 роки тому

      @@konstantinaksenov4850 thank you. Ive realized that order matters. I generally nest the clip after applying warp and lumetri so I avoid all of those problems. Neat video is slow regardless. Why couldn't there be a convenient de-noiser for video like there is for lightroom....something that isn't so cpu intensive

    • @konstantinaksenov4850

      @@ramymelhem NeatVideo is a very hardware-dependent plugin. Currently, my system is built on ryzen 9 3900x + 64GB RAM + RX580 8GB and the plugin works fast enough. However, the rendering time already depends on the performance of this old video card. Modern top-end video cards and processors significantly increase the speed of neatvideo: blog.neatvideo.com/post/hw-nov19

    Weird question, I cannot see that pop-up box you got detailing the render time. The bar above my clip is red and I am unable to playback the video without it being choppy - so I know it is still rendering. Are you able to help me view how much time is left in the render?

    • @rodrrico
      @rodrrico  2 роки тому

      I would mark in and out on the area that is red, ensure the video track is enabled and try rendering again. You should get a popup box of frames to / remain rendering every time you render anything in your timeline.
      If it's still not working, you might need to restart Premiere or possibly reinstall it. That's a strange problem you have there.

    Hi! I have a doubt, what do you think is better to work neat video directly in the footage or better on an adjustment layer? thanks

    • @rodrrico
      @rodrrico  3 роки тому

      If you're dealing with heavy effects layers then certainly on that. I usually use an adjustment layer as I don't like 'destructive editing', though i occasionally use neat video on the actual video track (if not needing all the extra visual treatment layers above). I also use it on nested sequences and it runs a treat. Great question and thanks for watching!

      You can remove noise from only darker areas / lighter areas using the advanced tools, but I personally haven't tried this method. Not a huge fan of how the formula is right now with the difficulty to pass and the Mercedes utter dominance (and yes I lived through the Schumacher / Ferrari dominance, but that was far less due to high attrition rates with mechanical failures etc). I made a random video on my channel about the best places to watch the Melbourne Grand Prix live if you guys are interested... it was a few months ago though. Anyway, love that you're fans! Perhaps, but this is also dependant on your computer specs. You need a strong CPU, RAM and GFX card to see real improvements (for instance I have 9700k cpu, 32gb 3200mhz ram and a 1070 8gb oc gfx card) and i only use super fast SSDs these days. Also perhaps it could be effected by using proxies. I didn't use proxies for all my tests as I only ever do graphical effects on the final pass of an edit.

    How long does it take to clean a 45 second long clip?

    • @rodrrico
      @rodrrico  4 роки тому

      Hi there, it depends on several factors including the codec of the source video (4k Pro Pres 444 for instance will take a lot longer than a 1080p h264 clip). Furthermore, it also depends on your computer hardware capabilities. What CPU you have (what speed it is, how many cores and threads etc), how much ram etc. There is no specific time per say.
      What I can tell you is that with my high end specs, it cleans up clips in less than a minute, including rendering for playback on the timeline at full resolution. Neat video added a substantial performance boost with the latest version 5.2. I hope that helps you a little bit. Basically, it is the best quality and fastest professional grade denoiser on the market right now.

I was wondering... maybe you could render a noisy clip from premiere to individual frames, batch filter them in photoshop or paint shop pro with topaz denoise, and reimport them in premiere. It's convoluted, yes, but the denoising is absurdly good... and if it is better than neat video's, it might be worth it!
