You did a wonderful job both of you it is a nice cabin to stay.But you seems are not a construction guy or maison that is why you are plastering on a dry surface may be you forgot to make all the cement blocks wet now the plaster you did is going to crack and will fell down.
To think... I remember this sweet, young innocent (looking), trim boy at the beginning of all this. Now look at him: this strapping, tall, very strong, handsome, intelligent and logical minded MAN. Received the Christmas pack of both cutting boards and the two cans of wax that we ordered for my mom for Christmas on 12/21/2023. I was amazed they got here so fast!....absolutely phenomenal. The quality is unmatched by anyone, anywhere. Her reaction was "I saw them making these on you r TV!." And then crying happy tears. Mom never asks for much and has never really had anything this nice before. Dad and I knew the moment she saw the video of you two making the boards we had to order them. Thank you for making one sweet lady here in upstate New York a very happy woman. A Christmas neither she nor any of us will ever forget.
I’m not sure what’s more impressive…your dedication to figuring it all out as you go or the vast number of camera angles and editing. Lots of foresight goes into each scene that most aren’t aware of. Well done sir!

Watched your progress through out the year of building, you've accomplished so much, I appreciate your efforts to stay as natural as possible, but also balanced with the need to use modern technology to make your dwelling safe and secure. I do wonder though that you haven't seemed to show how you're handling your sanitary needs, do you have an outhouse, what about running water? Those things are vital to staying safe and healthy in a rustic environment. Hopefully at some point you can address these issues. I'd be excited to see how you do! Stay safe and enjoy the holiday season!
When you put on plaster, its better to wet the surface a few times so that the the stone is slightly soaked. It will take the plaster and stick to it better when drying.
White fireplace looks great, though keeping soot off so it stays white may be a challenge. All bricks would be another option. Maybe the stucco is easier to clean? Just wondering if I'm missing an advantage to stucco over bricks.

Yes I am thinking about working on an online course where I will talk and share basically everything I have learned into a series. Because there is no such thing on the internet where all this kind of knowledge is shared. I had to find everything out through talking to our older generation, reading and alot just from trial and error, learning as I go. So I am very passionate about trying to preserve this knowledge.

I just discovered this channel and oh my God its amazing. I have served in the Canadian Military for 22 years this month on the 20th and still serving and I have never seen anyone be able to do the work you do.
We live in central Portugal, but are currently wintering in Thailand, I miss the cold weather and the cosy wood burner, one inside and another outside. A beer or glass of wine, music and toasting something. Watching this will build a cooking bay of some kind for a cast iron pot. Thanks for sharing your peace.

Rockies back in the 70's...we had a beautiful German short hair as well, the best dogs...now retired and living in Florida, I still remember splitting wood and that smoke scent coming out of the chimney...you are making wonderful memories and have amazing skills, this was a pleasure to watch...sigh...!

I am always glad when you produce new footage because I may be stuck here in the noisy irritable reality of city life, but at least my mind can escape and enjoy the lush tranquil peace of living in the forest and enjoying to see how your log cabin evolves ever further into a cozy home. I would love to visit and see that cabin myself one day, but that probably won't happen. All the same, keep doing what you do, it is a joy to follow your progress. I do want to get me one of those carving boards when I can afford to.

the first time you put water and then you put cement, sand or other materials that require mixing with water. the mixture is much easier and does not remain stuck to the bottom of the mixing container. I like what you have done!

Watched your progress through out the year of building, you've accomplished so much, I appreciate your efforts to stay as natural as possible, but also balanced with the need to use modern technology to make your dwelling safe and secure. I do wonder though that you haven't seemed to show how you're handling your sanitary needs, do you have an outhouse, what about running water? Those things are vital to staying safe and healthy in a rustic environment. Hopefully at some point you can address these issues. I'd be excited to see how you do! Stay safe and enjoy the holiday season!

When you put on plaster, its better to wet the surface a few times so that the the stone is slightly soaked. It will take the plaster and stick to it better when drying.
White fireplace looks great, though keeping soot off so it stays white may be a challenge. All bricks would be another option. Maybe the stucco is easier to clean? Just wondering if I'm missing an advantage to stucco over bricks.

Yes I am thinking about working on an online course where I will talk and share basically everything I have learned into a series. Because there is no such thing on the internet where all this kind of knowledge is shared. I had to find everything out through talking to our older generation, reading and alot just from trial and error, learning as I go. So I am very passionate about trying to preserve this knowledge.

I just discovered this channel and oh my God its amazing. I have served in the Canadian Military for 22 years this month on the 20th and still serving and I have never seen anyone be able to do the work you do.
We live in central Portugal, but are currently wintering in Thailand, I miss the cold weather and the cosy wood burner, one inside and another outside. A beer or glass of wine, music and toasting something. Watching this will build a cooking bay of some kind for a cast iron pot. Thanks for sharing your peace.

Well, now I'm really missing my carpenter boyfriend and our cabin in the Colo. Rockies back in the 70's...we had a beautiful German short hair as well, the best dogs...now retired and living in Florida, I still remember splitting wood and that smoke scent coming out of the chimney...you are making wonderful memories and have amazing skills, this was a pleasure to watch...sigh...!

I am always glad when you produce new footage because I may be stuck here in the noisy irritable reality of city life, but at least my mind can escape and enjoy the lush tranquil peace of living in the forest and enjoying to see how your log cabin evolves ever further into a cozy home. I would love to visit and see that cabin myself one day, but that probably won't happen. All the same, keep doing what you do, it is a joy to follow your progress. I do want to get me one of those carving boards when I can afford to.

the first time you put water and then you put cement, sand or other materials that require mixing with water. the mixture is much easier and does not remain stuck to the bottom of the mixing container. I like what you have done!
