I think he needed more background for this to work out. There must be a very traumatic experience involving death in his youth to justify this insane crusade against the concept Itself. His birth might have killed his mother, or he saw what the noble families did to the Reio, something like that. You can see a selfish guy like Aizen putting himself "alone at the top" for selfish reasons, but ending death needs something more refined to make sense. KIshimoto did It really well with Madara and Obito, If Kubo could have spent more time in the final arc he would definitelly do something like that.

I like Ywach he is my favorite Bleach Villain. Ywachs motivation lines up with Quincy abilities to outright destroy souls as opposed to continue the cycle. This also lines up with his second motivation of "freeing" his father. Ywach is afraid of the future which is death which lines up also with his Almighty ability. I think Ywach is well built my only gripe with him is how sadistic he becomes but I chalk it up to wanting to convince people like Ichigo that his state of existence is the correct one. The shimigami created a world of death and a never ending cycle of fear. This puts him at odds with everyone including Aizen who aspires to be the God of this world of fear, hope, courage, and death.

I like how Ywach commented on Yamamoto NOT using Orihime's power to heal himself as a weakness, it seems younger Yama was more willing to take advantage of anyone and their power. I always thought it was pride that stopped Yama from asking Orihime for help but maybe it was more about him not wanting to embroil humans into his conflict. Normally a villain would say asking for help is a weakness but this was an interesting flip on that topic

Unohana, Yamamoto and Ichigo could very much be the only ones coming out of it alive, if the plan wasn't to just steal some Bankais and and then kill Yamamoto, and instead was already an all out fight but without Yhwach.
The Vizards were wasted in this arc, their Bankai can't be stolen, the three Vizard should've been the MVP of this first invasion, why weren't they compelled to use their masks, even if not using the Hollowfication Mask was a rule coming from Yamamoto, they were being slaughtered.

@@MaxIronsThird well, I was including Squad 0 as the Quincy's goal was the Soul King. And I didn't take into account the Bankai stealing tools either as those were provided by Yhwach and I was in the mindset of if he wasn't involved at all. Like if he didn't exist anymore and it was a pure Quincy v Soul Reaper slugfest. So even Royd acting as Yhwach slipped my mind. Though I do think Shunsui or Unahana could take him if they used their Bankai.
But yeah, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads wouldn't be able to stop Gremmy, Gerard, Lille, and maybe Haschwalth as I don't know what Haschwalth's limits are.
The rest I think could be taken out soundly enough. For example, all you have to do to take out Mask is kill him and that tumor of his at the same time. Otherwise they'll just keep healing, amping and reviving eachother. And Askin just needs to be taken out either very quickly or by a suprise attack of a high enough caliber. I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility.

An inverted Christ figure; I love Yhwach and how he’s like Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar leading the charge of his army which automatically breeds loyalty from those under him. My favorite villain maybe in any series. Honestly his motivation to me seems based on his nature and all the reasons he gives are a sort of cover story to hide his fear of death; him being created this way and if he stops he reverts to nothing. I somewhat sympathized with him after we learned what will happen he if he stops giving and collecting his soul. In that sense he reminds me of Father from FMA brotherhood. I agree with you, I liked him better before he absorbed Mimihagi and the king proper. He had more depth and it was hard to pin down if he was totally evil or trying to do good in his own eyes. It really is too bad we didn’t get more backstory on the aberration that became Yhwach, the man who ate god. Really is a shame we didn’t get to see Aizen unbound to actually fight Yhwach and maybe Ichigo comes to finish it still. So ready to see this arc animated, gonna be so good. God bless everyone, and be well.

It could've been an even 1000 but it came a year earlier so Kubo wrote a poem instead to explain it. Since like every other prophecy is exactly 1000 years. What I find funny is how, in a long running rpg I made with friends, I made a very "Aizen like" character (he was a psychic that could read minds and put suggestions in other people's minds and used it to be a master manipulator, and just like Aizen he was heavily ambitious and inspired by Nietzsche), then towards the very end he became just like YWACH and had the exact same goal (he even got the ability to read the future ....... yes the power level got out of hand) and even had a debate with another PC similar to the one between YWACH and Aiwen. And ever since then, I had had a far better understanding of YWACH and an appreciation of his goals, I really understand them and see where he was going since I followed the same path as him, this is a very interesting experience to have (main difference between the two characters are that he was heavily inspired by Jesus whilst the final form of my character was literally called Lucifer lol, and I did win, but still, when you play out the villain and legitimately arrive at the same conclusion as them, they suddenly hit very different)

Like if we saw when the Quincies came to recruit Uryu near the start of the arc and his father gave him the arrowhead then with a quick explenation as to what it did. That way we would be there with Uryu, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

After reading through the manga, I kind of pity the existence of Quincies. The first quincy powers might have come from Soul King provided he is a hybrid, but Yhwach was perhaps the true creator of the Quincy species. He can be considered their emperor, their god so on and so on. But in the end, Yhwach considered all the quincies to be his tools, his nourishment nothing else. In the war I think its Yhwach that killed more quincies than the Soul Society. For him they don't matter. He doesn't care whether his own subjects live or die. What kind of King he is. Is even tyrant a good enough term for him?
Yes Aizen was also a cruel master. For him the esspada were his tools, his experiments. But atleast I think in my own way, he spared Harribel after taking her out in two critical hits.
But Yhwach only cared about himself. Hell I would go to say that Jugram was a better King because he actually cared about the survival of Quincies and order his Secretary to take the remaining survivors and atleast try to ensure the survival of quincy as a species.
Quincies were hunted down because Yhwach decalred the war a thousand years ago against Soul Society. After then Quincies were declared Soul Society enemies and suffered genocide twice. I mena he did Aushwalen 9 years ago to take out half breeds, who can be considered part of the species, that will be in what millions? Then he does Aushwalen to power his elite force by killing off his lower sternritters. Then he absorbs Jugram and Gerard as well. Jugram who he considered his other half.
I kind of suspect Ryuken may have hated Soul Society for what Mayuri did to Soken, but he hated Yhwach more because upon his wife's death, he finally understood that if they are just considered food for their own creator, then there is no other form of cruelty that can be more painful than that.
If Yhwach doesn't care about his own subjects, what kind of world would he have created?

Always read it as though Yhwach knew how the realms were once all one and that the binding of the Soul King is what separated the mortal realm, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo. The 'world without death' is one where the realms are one--so there isn't an afterlife to go to, but simply the same reality you're in. Following that logic, Quincy then become the dominant species because they're the only ones who can truly kill anyone.

One other thing to add is, even in the primordial world, souls were subject to being destroyed, or effectively "killed" for example when eaten by hollows which were naturally occurring. Apparently it was a pretty dangerous place, even if souls did not die of "old age" or somehow phased in and out of existence. Makes me think Yhwach's return the primordial world would only suit someone as powerful as him/Rei-o in the long-run. Also, another interesting thing is that it's suggested Rei-O already knew the shinigami would mutilate him out of fear but still chose to live for them - maybe Yhwach is more angry at his father's decision to live for others more so than what the shinigami actually did to him.

Something I hope is explained more is ywhachs backstory, it is something that kind of makes the timeline complicated, By CFYOW.
As for ywhach wanting to make a world without death I believe that was never really his true goal, I think that an aspect of his character was supposed to be hyprocrisy. For example he claims to be a man of peace but he chooses to continue this thousand year war, and he treats his subordinates very harshly. I think the only true motivation for eanting to combine the three worlds was revenge for what the shinigami did to his father.

Ichigo can't change fate, not as a power. Yhwach was talking about how, in battle, people can change their "fate" by adapting and growing and holding out hope.
In that sense, the power of hope, which allows people to push on in the face of despair, is what allows people to change their future.
Unfortunately, before the Almighty that is useless as, to Yhwach, they're doing no more than jumping from one future he sees and controls to another.
"The future doesn't lie on a single path. The future is like grains of sand scattered before me. Each one of those seemingly isolated grains of sand is the future.
To put it another way, they can also be called possibilities. Ichigo, I enjoy speaking of hope. The future can be changed. That is a fact. A fact filled with such great hope. You evolve through your battles. Fine. That too is filled with hope.
But...changing the future...simply means jumping from one grain of sand to another. And I can see every grain of sand from high above.
Please do not give up hope, Ichigo. Stay the way you are. Keep jumping from the rolling grains of sand called Fate or Possibility with your eyes shut. That is hope for humans. Do not lose hope. There is nothing more painful for a parent...than killing a child in despair."

Almost like his will come manifest. On top of that, there is an extreme similarity in the Hogyoku's ability and Ywach's ability to bestow power upon people. The Bankai stealing medallions were kinda lame. Feels very much like an "Anime filler" episode weapon. In fact, I'm pretty sure in bleach they did some sort of "Bankai stopper" weapon in the filler episodes of the Bleach anime.

yhwach is the future worries rappresented in physical form, just like every other character or powers in the story. a classical rappresentation of the hero's journey and character development in ichigo. the two most obvious points in the story are when zangetsu "old man" reveals everything and how he used the hollow powers of ichigo and his quincy powers to help him little by little ( a psychological development little by little, where by understanding his fears and shadows he grows) and same with the interaction in the final fight where tsukishima aizen and yhwach are there ( the future worries and anxiety have the chance of halting ones development before it starts - yhwach powers, but by understanding that in the past there is always a moment where you can realize a newpoint of view- tsukishima powers and ultimately create a new chance in the present- aizen powers and plans). bleach follows the hero's journey to the letter in its storyboard just like many other stories and films. the 3 great arcs with human world/soul society - hueco mundo/karakura battle with aizen ( consequent loss of power/ symbolic death of the hero) and last arc with the fullbringers and quincies ( the hero's allies give him the chance of rebirth, and then his full potential is obtained in the soul palace at the presence of the "greatest power of the story") can say more but it gets annoying ahah.

I personally wish we knew about Ywach's full plan much earlier on instead of having it shown in the last few chapters so that we had time to really digest it during the arc and see how it may impact other characters

This is how I always interpreted it (based on soooo many things I’ve read or listened to, including you actually) but here’s my take.
SOOOOOO there’s so much that isn’t explained until the light novel Can’t Fear Your Own World! So the major thing that was never really explained was what/who the Soul King really even was and he was basically the very first Quincy kind of. He’s obviously something else but shinigami existed alongside him. Basically, all three worlds used to be one but this was a problem because before it was just spirits and such living alongside them but the hollows started appearing and Reio (SK) was destroying hollows but it destroyed them permanently and caused imbalance. So he was approached by like the first shinigami (Five Noble Clans progenitors) and he basically gave himself over to him and they used his power to split the world into three and then used him to stabilize the flow of spirits as well. He had all the same powers as Ywach and then some. The shinigami were still scared he would oppose them even though he didn’t resist and so they split him up which is why he was encased half dead in the crystal. The missing link from all of this was that Ywach was already alive and an adult when this happened and that’s what started the war between the Quincy and shinigami. The fact the SK gave himself up freely was why Ywach didn’t really vibe with Reio. But Ywach inherited The Almighty, Soul Absorption and Distribution, and all that from Reio and Ywach’s whole deal and reason for hating shinigami was actually p legitimate considering they chopped the SK up unnecessarily just because they were scared of his power

One thing that does get me is that Kubo makes very good villains, I wonder how the villain after Yhwach would have been like if kubo had got to do that french arc, who knows we may see it in the future if he ever gets back into doing a weekly manga again.

I loved this character from the get go because we all knew OMZ was going to have a proper pay off eventually, and yeah we got it with this dude.
This dude was a great villain and just a beast, I absolutely love no nonsense no bullshit villains like this, he was just all business
I felt as well Kubo could've shown us flashback to the last war and show young Yamamoto
The whole Yhwach/YHWH thing is very clever
I have a bunch of ideas of what I felt he should've been like a how he should've been fleshed out but we'll save that for your full analysis video.

Ive always sort of seen his existence as another thing shed by the soul king. In this case maybe his rage or his will. Yhwach seemed at least from the flashback we're given to always have this drive to be what he is.

Great content I’m subbed, I like the design of him, he really reminds me of Vlad tepes. Especially with that facial hair. And they way he treats people like his underlings, his power, it’s like what would happen if you mixed Jesus Christ with vlad the impaler. Can’t wait to see what the show does!! So exciting to see bleach coming back in a big way. I never expected to see it ever again.

great video, but I think one of the main things missed in this video is that the world without fear of death that Yhwach wanted, was also the old world. before they were split in 3 (SS, Real-world, and HM) We know it's not all of existence because we didn't hear or see anything about hell or the other dimensions. so at one point, the 3 worlds were one. Yhwach wanted it to return to that.

His ruthlessness and proactive-ness, both in battle and in tactics is my favorite aspect of this character.
Battle: Ichigo activates his super threatening Bankai? Doesn't take any chances. Breaks it in all possible futures *immediately* after it comes out (also, his speech to Renji and Rukia about him going to kill them at their most joyful moment in the future is incredibly chilling).
Tactics: As soon as Ichigo comes back from the Royal Palace, he's immediately like: "Now you left the barrier wide open, ichigo! Sayonara, sucker! Hahahaha!" as he leaves with Haschwalth and Uryu on his castle.

If the boundaries between the world of the living and Soul Society are broken down people would be able to interact with the souls of those who have died, this would show people that and afterlife existed and so people would no longer fear death. This is a very similar motivation to Pucci from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure who wants to show everyone their fate in order to remove fear of the unknown.
