Now you have to do new millennium cyanide christ. Its basically the more insane version of this song. Its also one of the choppiest songs in all of existence.
HLB drops the heaviest record of all time, meanwhile "don't make them like this anymore". I can assure you plenty of bands make breadowns like this. You got fast breakdowns, slow breakdowns, groovy breakdowns, fast drums but slow guitar, whatever you want. Look, I get that we all have our favorite eras due to the when we hit a certain age, but that's no reason to discount new music. That being said, having seen this live recently, it is indeed one of the very best breakdowns ever, especially when they slow it down live like they do nowadays :)
This whole album was an historic moment in metal history, where Meshuggah single-handedly took a quantum leap forward in the evolution of composition for the genre and laid the foundation for all future progressive/djent style bands. I'm so excited you checked this out! I recommended it on one of your videos quite a while back. If you want more Meshuggah excellence, PLEASE check out New Millennium Cyanide Christ (ua-cam.com/video/4A_tSyJBsRQ/v-deo.html)
(why do people keep using "quantum" leap to make it sound big and important? A quantum is not only _tiny_ it is _the tiniest energy exchange that can happen_ . It literally can't be any smaller!)
This was the very first song I heard with them, back in '95. A colleague at work handed me this album and said "you've got to check this out". I was instantly hooked. Thanks Jonas :)
I love Meshuggah, and this song has always been by favorite. Others I love - "New Millenium Cyanide Christ", "The Abysmal Eye", "Qualms of Reality". I saw them open for Tool quite a long time ago. It was hilarious, because when the set ended (and they played this song), the Tool crowd had no idea what they had just witnessed.
Dude, you made me laugh a lot with this one... Thanks for that. Funny you speak about animals... perfect timing to suggest another choppistry factory : Animals as leaders ! Maybe the song "CAFO" for your first step in their world. Enjoy ! 😁
Love it, man. Here for the Chunkshuggah! And yeah, man. All their rhythms are nuts. At least they give small, repeating samples to try and grab onto. If it was random and jammy, I couldnt do it lol
Haake writes most of their stuff. Genius. Amazing band. The snazzy jazzy breakdown in this track is so unique. I always hope for them to return to this trademark amidst the polyrhytmic machinery firing. The contrast is sooo effectful. [Edit: spelling]
Oh yeah man this is going to be good..this is the song that got me into the band..This has chops and drops ten miles long...I love that opening guitar riff..Reminds me of early Korn and that breakdown in the middle was so melodic and dark it really elevates the song 👍🧐🤘✌️
Going back to their first album!! Much more thrashy sound of theirs. Try new millenium cyanide christ from their album chaosphere 🤘 Meshuggah is almost all in 4/4 timing. It's what they do within that 4/4 that makes them special. I just bought tickets to see them for the 2nd time in December. Can't wait
Heeey greetings from Germany, great reaction. Meshuggah can get really get these insane groovesand riffs, it's so amazing one you're into it. Did you do a Karnivool reaction before? If not, you gotta check out these insane musicians from Perth. "Goliath" for instance is an amazing song
Every Meshuggah song is in 4/4. The high hats. I'm joking but really it's close enough to true. They're constantly dancing around that 4/4 with awesome subdivisions and other trickery like extra beats on measures.
Meshuggah is definitely my favorite band they make me feel calm and relaxed for some reason. You should definitely do a couple of reactions to some Nevermore music I would say my acid words or the final product would be good ones to start with and then you could dig into some of their older stuff but I'm just saying they are amazing for an American metal band considering the Swedish ones are generally the best I think they are just born that way hahaha
On the destroy erase improve album, isn’t the skeleton on fire on the left side of the album almost like a replica from broken cog? I know this was released 27 years before immutable, so maybe that’s how immutable came to be 27 years later at least that’s what I’m guessing.
I have a song suggestion I would love to watch your reaction to. It's called "Hey man, nice shot" by the band Filter. Their frontman (I think), was guitarist in Nine Inch Nails and then started the band Filter if I am not mistaken.
Must react to their live versions!!!!!! Here’s the best of the best. Mostly from their “Alive dvd” album. The sound quality is incredible as well as the footage. Do these songs. - New Millennium Cyanide Christ - Stengah - The Mouth Licking what you bled - Rational Gaze - Electric Red - Pravus - Straws Pulled
Didn’t he already knew rational gaze? I could’ve sworn he did. But yeah, I agree he needs to see the live versions 2022 the light show is something else
The drums are in 4/4 but his feet and guitars in the verse for example are playing 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 =16 which is 4 bars of 4/4. BUT you could just say fuck all that and headbang in 4 cause it all lines up anyway which is the great thing about meshuggah. it just grooves differently
if you want melodies, chaos, chuggs, odd timing and next level song writing id highly recommend looking into vildhjarta please react to "dagger (forte)" or "all these feelings (forte)" or "Den Helige Anden" or "+ den spanska känslan +" (latest release) Even if you dont react to it, listen to their albums from start to finish some day
Yeah... it's been pretty much downhill for meshuggah ever since. They may have become more popular, more successful, more capable etcetcetc, but the _impact_ this song had... insurmountable.

One of the greatest breakdowns in the history of metal they don't make breakdowns like this anymore 🤘
Phantoms
This, and the breakdown in Lethargica!
@@GodlessFiend nah, they don't make them like this anymore
this one is tied with Pantera’s domination

This song still gives me chills. That breakdown before the solo…legendary

Clockworks drum playthrough!!! Prepare for your mind to be blown.🤯

Holy shit, Tool and Meshuggah on the same day, fuck!
Now we talking, great reaction, can't wait to see more Meshuggah, opeth and gojira, kings of choppdrops
The abysmal eye next if you haven't done it! Love me some meshuggah
That would be great. That's a new song and Future breed machine Is old,1995.youll notice the evolution
I didn’t even know I liked this band! This is badass!
Did you keep listening to them? They're new to me but it's my favorite, up there with Tool and Gojira
Two of the things I prefer about old meshuggah is the clean/acoustic guitars and the Alan Holdsworth inspired leads.
To each their ownb
They were objectively a better band before they went djent and became boring af
@@Alix777.Nothing and Obzen are still bangers honestly.
But I agree, they didn't kept evolving
Absolutely! When I heard Nothing and then Catch 33, I knew it was the end of the band for me. Now all their songs sounds the same. Sludgy
Give them another 20 years to reinvent metal
Dude, you made me laugh a lot with this one... Thanks for that.
Funny you speak about animals... perfect timing to suggest another choppistry factory : Animals as leaders ! Maybe the song "CAFO" for your first step in their world.

😁
haha I'm glad!
awesome will check them out appreciate it!
Yep, Brain Dance, Woven Web, Tooth n Claw etc

The best breakdown in metal history
sevsimo, here's a track for your WORKOUT PLAYLIST. Drowning Pool - BODIES! 🤞✌
Love it, man.
Here for the Chunkshuggah!
And yeah, man.
All their rhythms are nuts.
At least they give small, repeating samples to try and grab onto. If it was random and jammy, I couldnt do it lol
Try the band “Fear Factory”, song: Pisschrist
sevsimo, LED ZEPPELIN'S NO QUARTER followed immediately by TOOLS cover of NO QUARTER! 🤞✌
Yes
Haake writes most of their stuff. Genius. Amazing band. The snazzy jazzy breakdown in this track is so unique. I always hope for them to return to this trademark amidst the polyrhytmic machinery firing. The contrast is sooo effectful. [Edit: spelling]
Great reaction bro. So glad you at listening to this incredible band. Please do more.

Cool have fun, I have yet to afford to see them since they coming to my state in December too
I’m going to see them in Minneapolis. I’m so pumped!
This is their second album, not first. Their first was Contradictions Collapse. Now THAT was pure thrash lmao
@@im_in_immense_pain oh shit you're right. How could I forget that album!
there’s so many songs to try from Meshuggah. one of my favorites is the beginning to ORPHIDIAN TREK live show. SWARM is the song. check it out.
"what time signature are they playing in this one?"
umm, all of them
"what time signature are they playing in this one?"
yes
it's actually just a 4/4 :)
some bits are in 13/8, i think the solo?
Its a beautiful solo
Heeey greetings from Germany, great reaction. Meshuggah can get really get these insane groovesand riffs, it's so amazing one you're into it.

I just was waiting to see you face … what a breakdown !! 🤘🏽 live is unbeatable
It just kept getting better
Yes...CHOPPY
their old stuff is seriously good. my suggestions are:
Humiliative
Sickening
Ritual
New Millennium Cyanide Christ
Suffer In Truth
my favorite track of theirs is still "the Mouth Licking What You've Bled"
sevsimo, WHITE ZOMBIE! 🤞✌
Put some sweet 'shuggah in the cafe! I think this is the first time I've seen you have a facemelt, Meshuggah is definitely good for that
This song and this album…was really the shape of Metal to Come 😎🤘🏼
Its not even really there yet :) ;p;
Love MESHUGGAH
some good old Meshuggah , yeah !!!! "in death is life / in death is death" next pleeeeeease !!!
The whole album and everything else they’ve ever made is 🙏
Controlled Chaos. That would be a cool name for a band!
Love meshhuggah
It was released 1995. Compare that to what was around then. Meshuggah was decades ahead of their time.
DESTROY ERASE IMPROVE - that says it all!
Fuggin CHOPPY to the DROP.... MESHUGGA FOR THE WIN...MM SOOOO KRUNCHY...M
Every Meshuggah song is in 4/4. The high hats. I'm joking but really it's close enough to true. They're constantly dancing around that 4/4 with awesome subdivisions and other trickery like extra beats on measures.
Should’ve done the live version
More Meshuggah !!!!!!! They will break most music to pieces and you will never be the same.
Catch thirty-thr³³ [2005] and Immutable [2022] are my favourite Meshuggah albums.
Crazy to think they've been going since 1987
it's all in 4/4
Give me something to fkn dance to 🕺🕺🕺 pure energy
Please listen to the song bleed. Thomas Haake is a robot or is he AI? Because im an ameba in comparison with his skills
Controlled Chaos
Obscene Zen
Cool I'm glad that I'm not the only one who gets this pissed listening to Meshuggah 👌
It takes a special person to appreciate that what is MESHUGGA.... WE ARE FEW... BUT WE LOVE THE CHOP...
Same album, Soul Burn. Its my personal fav from them
Still their best album 👌
Meshuggah is definitely my favorite band they make me feel calm and relaxed for some reason. Soul burn should be in this channel
Ok Meshuggah - Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion (ua-cam.com/video/m9LpMZuBEMk/v-deo.html) is the next stop
On the destroy erase improve album, isn’t the skeleton on fire on the left side of the album almost like a replica from broken cog? I know this was released 27 years before immutable, so maybe that’s how immutable came to be 27 years later at least that’s what I’m guessing.
I love how confused you look as soon as it starts hahah
🤙🏼
reacciona a todo el disco porfavor
Meshuggah is the best Sweden produced after Ikea and ABBA
-And Koenigsegg. 🤓
Meshuggah is the GOAT
💪🏻🤘🏻
Yes Topi 🤟🔥🤟
2:09 This section is a polyrhythm! 5/16 over 4
I have a song suggestion I would love to watch your reaction to.
It's called "Hey man, nice shot" by the band Filter.
Their frontman (I think), was guitarist in Nine Inch Nails and then started the band Filter if I am not mistaken.
Going straight into the choppy playlist
Must react to their live versions!!!!!! Here’s the best of the best. Mostly from their “Alive dvd” album. The sound quality is incredible as well as the footage. Do these songs.
- New Millennium Cyanide Christ
- Stengah
- The Mouth Licking what you bled
- Rational Gaze
- Electric Red
- Pravus
- Straws Pulled
Didn’t he already knew rational gaze? I could’ve sworn he did.
But yeah, I agree he needs to see the live versions 2022 the light show is something else
Bleed
Obsen
Do Not Look Down
The drums are in 4/4 but his feet and guitars in the verse for example are playing 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 =16 which is 4 bars of 4/4. BUT you could just say fuck all that and headbang in 4 cause it all lines up anyway which is the great thing about meshuggah. it just grooves differently
The only explanation I have is that I was 10 years old and heard this.
I miss more fusion-esque Meshuggah. Maybe my favourite solo of theirs. At least top 3.
Fusion esque?
if you want melodies, chaos, chuggs, odd timing and next level song writing id highly recommend looking into vildhjarta
please react to "dagger (forte)" or "all these feelings (forte)" or "Den Helige Anden" or "+ den spanska känslan +" (latest release)
Even if you dont react to it, listen to their albums from start to finish some day
Still the best Meshuggah song imo.
2:27 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah... This song is in 4/4. Most of Meshuggah's songs are in 4/4.
Lembrei de Pantera, só que com muito mais esteróides! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
5:35
Yeah... it's been pretty much downhill for meshuggah ever since. They may have become more popular, more successful, more capable etcetcetc, but the _impact_ this song had... insurmountable.
Their song Phantoms =choppy! Check out your rhythmic mind will be blown!
I've got a suggestion for you: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Supercell
Just let go of time signatures with these bands, how the songs are written is how they are.
Phony.
