Meshuggah's 90s releases were so influential. There were no other bands like them at the time.
There still aren't, but yeah imagine coming across this sound at the time. Must have been quite the feeling
Tons of wannabe bands and a few that took inspiration and did their own thing with it.
Dude their lyrics are fantastic as well. I love how they genuinely sound dark and messed up in their words (especially obzen) while other bands just sound so basic and “kill everything, death, death, death”

when meshuggah came by on the last tour, i thought they weren't gonna have this song on the setlist. was walking away from the pit after humilative thinking they were gonna close with bleed and they played this song. never ran back faster in my life. sick cover for the heaviest metal song ever.

first time I heard Meshuggah was when Swedish radio aired one of their live sets on a show called P3 Live. This was before Destroy Erase Improve was released, so around 93-95. I recorded the show on my cassette player and listened over and over to this song. Been a fan since! Also, good job

Classic! First time I heard this song was at this small club near my hometown, they had just released Catch 33 at the time. I wasn't into them at this point and I was there to see God Forbid but once they played those opening notes, I was like, "wtf is this?!" Well done, as always!

Man God Forbid rules too. At least Meshuggah got their flowers eventually. This generation hardly knows God Forbid. They were prob the most violent band in New Jersey at one point. They wrote some straight ASS BEATERS but were also metal af and melodic.
