    Had never crocheted in my life and I've been using these videos to learn all of these stitches. They're really easy to understand and follow along compared to other videos I tried. I went through a few other demonstrator videos before I found these. The best for beginners!!

    I’m an avid 40 year crocheter and I was wondering how many times you run your end through your stitches to hid the ends? Mikey from TCC says 3 times is sufficient so that your ends won’t unravel. I don’t think new crocheters understand how important this step is. If you don’t weave your ends in correctly it could lead to the unraveling of all your beautiful work. Thanks Kristen...I’ve followed you for a long time and your channel is one of my favorites.

    This was a great tutorial. Thank you! I wish you had provided more tips in this tutorial like your other ones, though. For example, how to keep the top of the treble stitch tight. A lot of mine are loose, and I’m having a hard time fixing them.

      Try going down a size or two on your hook with the same yarn. It sounds like your tension is just loose. You will get more consistent in how you make the stitches with practice. If you are loose now with your tension that is a good sign. Many people are too tight. Once you get used to it you will probably become a great crocheter with even stitches and may just need to be 1 size smaller than what a pattern states (depending on yarn). You’ve got this! Keep it up ❤️😄

    Hi
    Thank you for the great tutorials, I have watched many and find yours the easiest to follow, until now, I'm pretty sure I've got the stitches down pat but the are straight ,, they don't run zigzag like yours? Help please!

  • @jannenijs7636

    Your videos have been really helpful in learning how to crochet. I've just got one question: after making your foundation chain, starting your first row of double/triple crochets, why does the 'turning chain' not count? (Or the 3/4 skipped stitches) I always end up with an ok-ish result, except for that 1 hole in the beginning that's sticking out...

    Is there a video when you put all the patches together?

  • @rea8780
    @rea8780 5 років тому +3

    Love your videos. I have a problem with figuring out how the yarn around my fingers should be. Like, should it be tight and then I pull it with the hook or should it be more loose so you use fingers to move yarn around?
    I understand that releasing the tension happens with more experience, but I think I have more of a problem with not holding the yarn comfortably. I found that really problematic when trying to do the treble crochet because bottom part is too tight and top par is too loose as I go up the chains.
    Do you have any advice?
    Thank you

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 років тому

      Thank you so much Rea. That is a great question. it took me quite a long time to really get the hang of what worked for me personally. You will end see in one of my early crochet videos I hold my yarn different in that video than in this one. It really depends on you. What you really want to look for is an overall consistency and the stitches are holding together nicely. The half double crochet is a great one to test your skills for this because it works up faster than the single crochet and gives you opportunity to try yarning over more. The treble is so tall make sure you master the double before getting too upset with unconfident treble stitches though. So for holding the yarn the hdc will be good for learning how you want to naturally hold the yarn. But for the treble just get going really well and for longer on the dc. you may want to try practicing with different hooks and yarn types too. Before trying those other stitches, first pick up a smaller hook with the yarn you are currently using for the treble. Make a nice size 6x6 or even a 12x12 inch sample. Now look at your stitches after done. How do they compare to the larger hook size? Do you need to go down one more hook size (because maybe you crochet loose)? Or do you need to go up higher in hook size from your original (because maybe you are a tight crocheter)? It may be that you just need a smaller hook size after all. But if you are totally new sometimes we all just need more experience. Everyones crochet journey is different so allow yourself some grace and have fun experimenting. Blessings in your journey! - Kristen

    I understand the stitches, but i seen ti always lose the count and end up with a triangular shape. How do you know when to chain 4 or sc or.... to keep up the correct number of stitches?

  • @orchestrafusion

    I keep seeing ppl do double crochets in reference to "treble crochet" which is confusing because, like you, I assumed "treble" and "triple"were the same thing. This is the first video about the treble stitch I've seen where someone actually did 3 instead of 2. Idk what's right or wrong.

    • @orchestrafusion
      @orchestrafusion Рік тому +1

      Update: I just learned that "treble" is the UK terminology for the US double crochet. Triple is its own separate stitch and not synonymous with the treble crochet.

    I need help with the Half-Triple, and Double-Triple stitches. How many stitches do I add to the foundation chain? Which stitch do I start in the foundation chain? And which stitch do I start in row 2? Foundation chain not counted as a stitch.
    Half-Triple
    fc: +4, start ch 5, next row: ??
    Double-Triple
    fc: +5, start ch 7, next row: ??

     @GoodKnitKisses This stitch has been the hardest for me so far. I start with a good first chain but then my second row is very loose & stitches are way bigger. I keep starting over but it's just not getting any better. Any tips? I've already learned so much from your videos & want to complete a sample for each one. But this one has me so frustrated I'm ready to skip it.

    On your first row you have 21 stitches but then the rest has 20 (I've paused and checked) how come I have ended up with 20 on the first row and 20 on the others as well? Have I done something wrong?
