Two things came together at the right time. My shoulders appear to slope because of my large breasts, so I decided to add shoulder pads. I bought four gel pads which stick to your skin…no sewing! I began to wonder if one of those pads would stick to the crown of my head, where it drops off sharply (extra large, extra square head). It did stick, and my wigs fit much better. So pleased with the results😌
Oh my gosh, this is BRILLIANT!! I am going to have to see about getting some and trying it so I can share it with all our wig sisters... thank you so much for sharing!! Where did you get the shoulder pads you used?
That is a great idea for sloping shoulders and our interestingly shaped noggins! I have one shoulder that is lower than the other due to scoliosis, and adding a not too obvious shoulder pad to some of my clothing will bring back that missing balance! Thank you! 😊
Because I have a little bio hair left, I cannot spray my hair with adhesive. So I spray all around the top of the wig grip, let it dry a little, then stick my wig to the grip. This holds really good. Also if I feel like my wig grip is slipping I put a couple of small snap in barrettes on the back side of the grip & and point them towards the front of the grip. Snap them, I never feel them, but they really secure my wig & give me the confidence that the wig is absolutely going no where. I just rode in my nephews corvette with the top off and my wig did not budge 😊
I was about to ask about how to use adhesive when you have some hair. Spraying the grip is a great idea, I’ll have to try that. I struggle with getting anything to fit securely or sit right because I have an odd shaped head! I think I do anyway as I can’t even manage head bands or hats. So as of yet I’ve not found a solution that works for me but I’m persevering!
My hair has receded at the front so I just apply adhesive along the front hairline. No need to bother with a wig grip or clips. It holds as solid as a rock. I guess it may not work if you have really sensitive skin but I get eczema and have never experienced any problems with wig glue.
I'm so grateful for your super helpful videos, Denise!! The wig style & color you're wearing, Denise, is naturally beautiful on you!! I struggle with a flat occipital bone, I will often stick a couple pieces of Topstik on my wig grip band and then stick the band to the back of my neck where I want the wig grip band/my wig to stay - that works.
Thank you, Denise, for your great videos. Thank you to all the wig sisters who leave such great suggestions in the comments. One of the things I love most about this site is people helping each other!
For me, the silicone wig grips work best. The little nubs on the inside hold the grip securely on my head, and the little nubs on the outside do a great job of holding the wig in place. There's absolutely no riding up in the back. I was concerned at first that the nubs and the tight fit might cause irritation, but that hasn't been an issue at all.
In addition to hair loss in the front, I also have burning scalp syndrome. So anything touching my head, even my fingertips lightly, causes itching and burning. I do wear the Velcro grips, but they are so irritating. So with or without them, my Wig always is irritating my scalp. That’s why the minute I walk in the door it comes off. I love my wigs, but I hate the way my scalp feels. 😢 Thanks for your great videos Denise. ❤
The sole reason I don't buzz my hair but let it grow (even though it isn't pretty!) is that I can still make a pony tail and twist it into a low bun to act as an anchor for my wigs. I use wig adhesive at the front as I have a receding hairline so it's a pretty easy solution.
I have no occipital bump so I have trouble with my wigs riding up. I have started using the double stick bra tape under my wig grip in a few places. My wig glue Got 2 Be has started making me itch so I had to find another method. I have even used the silicone lines grips and the stretchy silicone bands. Nothing stays in my hair, but the bra tape really works. Start with small strips first and see what it takes to keep you wig secure.
You made me cry 😢 I remember my first time dealing with my hair loss. I feel for women who suffer from this. Looking forward in viewing your vids. Sooo glad I found you!
Agree 100% about The Hair Grip. I am still relatively new to wig wearing and had tried a couple of other brands of wig grips when I got The Hair Grip (I think it was at your suggestion). Love it! What a difference. I even bought a couple of others in different shades. My wigs never feel insecure and I can wear up to 12 hours with no discomfort or slippage. I'll add another item: choose the right wig cap for you. Through trial/error, I know what feels good on my head and achieves the look I am going for, not just in terms of sizing but features and design of the cap.
Excellent information!! I struggle with a flat occipital bone & smaller than petite measurements. Your videos have been very helpful. Thank you so much🙏❤🫶
Even though my wigs are still in boxes, I will not wear them. I spent so much money on them and feel so defeated. However, I remember a couple of years ago watching you and just loved everything about you. I still love to see how are doing. YOU LOOK SO GOOD !!! You are amazing!! Fran your story touched me I know you don't know me but Im also a huge fan of Denise and I learned so much from her specialy from her videos. You need to start wearing your wig in the house to get use to wear it, to the feeling of having it on your head and seeing yourself in the mirror. I was terrified to wear the wigs in public specially with my family and friends. But slowly slowly wearing at home and to shopping trips I got the confidence to wear it more and more and now I wear it all the time. I wear it around 14 hours a day😮. I hope my story will help you and you will start to wear your wigs. Good luck
@@mihaelabrenner3665 That was so nice of you to reply to me. I hesitate to take your advice because I find that the earpieces are too close to the front of my face. Unfortunately, it isn’t a namebrand wig. I went to a shop over an hour away from my home that was recommended by somebody. I don’t know where she gets her wig from, but she measured my head and came out with a few wigs. My daughter was with me and liked the first one. It felt OK. I wore it when we went out for lunch. I was unhappy how I looked and I’m still unhappy about it. Thanks again for your kind words.
@franpost9800. Please don't be discouraged. I buy all my wigs online and it wasn't smooth sailing from the start. I watched a lot of videos of different ladies on UA-cam and IG and tried what they recommended. Lots of trial and error .Sometimes it worked but sometimes it didn't. I contacted Denise personally, wrote her on IG and she was very kind and generous and took the time to give me some tips. I send her videos with specific questions about my wigs and she replied. She is amazing and I learned from her a lot. Because of her I'm wearing my wig with more confidence and finally when I look in the mirror I finally recognize myself. Please don't give up. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
I needed this encouragement today. I’ve been ill and have lost so much hair. I’ve already purchased a couple wigs but have yet to wear them. I do however know that day is fast approaching and I think my biggest fear has been the wig security. I glad your video came up in my feed. Thanks
I get hot easily when wearing wigs, so no wig caps for me. I buy thin acrylic headbands with teeth that match my wig color. The head band keeps my wigs extra secure, especially on windy days. I may look like Retro Queen-don't care!😇
Thank you Denise! I still haven't found a wig but I continue to learn. I starting losing hair in 1999...just a dime sized patch. I now have little to no hair on top of my head. I have yet to find a wig that fits right. I purchased 2 and both were way too big. I know that I need a petite size but I haven't purchased any more. When you spend that kind of money, you want it to fit. Buying, trying and then maybe having to return it is a huge deterrent. Thanks for all that you do!
You might try to make an appointment at a wig store in your area. Wig grips don’t stay for me I have to use bobby pins. I use bobby pins in the back on the nape I put two pins right on the wefts on the bottom nape to keep from riding up .😁 thank you Denise and Carrie is beautiful on you!!🥰😁love and godbless
Finally ordered two large cap wigs I was able to get on clearance. One is Gabor, the other RW. Looking forward to comparing them to the 5 average caps I've tried thus far. As big as my upper cranium is, I'm curious to see if the caps will hug, rather than *squeeze*. Watching you (and other youtubers) demonstrate all the extra wig you go sometimes get around your crown has amused me, because that hasn't happened yet with a Estetica, Envy, Belle Tress, or Gabor (Gabor fit well, hairline to nape, however.) Oh, and whatever is going on with your arm, I hope it's healing. I was an idiot last night, and accidentally stabbed myself with a toothpick. Had to tug to get it out. 😖 Thanks, Denise.😎
The wig you're wearing is just stunning and soooo realistic!!!! Also, although I'm not in a position right now to shop, the tank top you're wearing is exactly what I have wanted with a square neckline, loose fit, and wide straps! (I saw that Amazon had a 30% off coupon if anyone else is interested). Don't have any experience with wigs staying in place (due to lack of experience with wigs, not good fortune!) but always trying to learn!!

I don’t know about the wig grip bands for complete hair loss. I find that it slips off my scalp. Works well for people with some hair. The silicone grip is awesome. Works extremely well for complete hair loss but it can make your head sore because of the nubs that might dig into your scalp if it is too tight but it will stretch overtime. This is a very informative video Denise. Thank you
Denise you are such a blessing. I loved this video so much much because I have had such a hard time with grips and caps, etc. I just ordered the hair grip you recommended and thank you so much for the 20% discount. BTW, you look amazing in Carrie and that color is perfect. You look so beautiful! Today is my birthday so I'm going to treat myself to a new grip and wig! Thank you again.
You covered everything really well. I use a wig grip, i do have bio hair, and it works really well. I have a lot of confidence in it staying in place. I was on the beach at Myrtle beach and it was very windy. It stayed on and I knew it would stay. Thanks for your video. Great tips.
I absolutely love you! you are the cutest thing and such a happy person with dimples! Thank you for all the advice. I need to buy a new human hair wig with the Bob style. I bought one recently from a beauty salon for $3000. 😮 which I absolutely hate! I was told that it came from Europe and was all hand tied. When I questioned her as to why she had cut the tag out of the wig, she gave me a song and dance. I don’t believe a word she said. I wish you lived in Florida so that I could get some honest help!
Thank you so much for your videos!!! I am passing on your videos to friends that are just starting their wig journey. You are always so helpful!!! You look beautiful with and without your wig! 🤗
Baby fine bio hair that I cut shorter than a pixie but not buzzed. The little ponytail I had did not help in the back. I have only had luck with gluing everything all the way around except near the eartabs to accommodate eyeglasses. I still haven’t tried the grip cap but I think I need to because of the itching scalp from certain wigs. Thanks for all you doDenise!
Great video, Denise! You covered a lot of info in a short period of time. Btw I think you have a beautiful, PERFECTLY shaped head, unlike mine with an ugly noggin up top😂 so I thank God for my wigs!! Until next time, friend, have a blessed evening!🤗✨️🫶
Denise, thank you so much for all the wig tips & tricks you have given me. I have learned so much concerning some wig wearing problems I have experienced! Keep up the awesome work. 👏👏👏
I finally used some got to be gel to glue my wig down, it was the first time it felt secure on my head. Do you have a video on how to hide wig wefts? Especially at the crown, there really isn't any videos on this issue.
I have some bio hair. I put it into a tiny bun very low at my nape for an anchor. I sew a clip into the nape of the wig and then sew three more clips around the U shape inside the cap. My measurement from the forehead to nape is small so it causes me to have too much extra room on top and the wig will want to puff up on top. The clips I sew in keep it flush to the top of my head. I’ll use a wig grip only when I’m flying and have to go through the TSA screen. I reserve a wig without clips sewn in for those occasions. It does take trial and error to find out what works best.
Hi Denise 👋😊, I was wondering if you could tell me what you think of Uniwigs or Thinthickhair. They seem to have 2 names and sell Toppers without clips which sounds like a good idea & much more comfortable than wigs. I think I got their name from you because I listen to you all the time. If you have tried them, can you tell me what you thought? Because they don't seem to have much in the way of synthetic, which is my preference but their prices for human hair about half of what others charge. Luv you ❤❤❤
Thank for this video I am glad I found you. I am fairly new to this and have yet to wear one out. I get encouragement from you. What wig are you wearing, I love it
You look great. Question: lost most of my hair due to brain tumor, brain surgery, radiation, chemo and meds. No hair in front. Spotty everywhere else. I wear wigs. Should i just let go and shave my head bald?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that style AND color except I am a very small head 20 1/2. Any suggestions of something similar in color and style? I bought Wavy Day in SS Cappucino and sent it back because it was big and wrong color.
Thank you! My wigs slip backwards from my hairline (mostly the Belle Tress ones, don't have an issue with Godiva), which then shows my bio hair. I don't know what to do. I have used both the silicone wig grips and the velvety ones. Any suggestion? My head is 22 1/4, should I be buying large caps maybe?
Do you wear anything on your head at home? I ordered the silicon wig grip as well as the Milano wig grip. The silicone one is a little too big for my head. The Velcro wig grip felt bulky and wouldn’t keep my wig in place.
wig gals - I'm gong to a concert in my wig and will be hot and sweaty due to dancing...thoughts on what product ...not sure the water adhesive ones will survive ? thoughts
Thank you, Denise, for your helpful videos. I've been wearing wigs for 18 years. Every wig I wear I have to fold the wig under at the ears. I am 12" from ear to ear. Is there a company you would recommend or a solution for me?? Presently my style is Jones by Estetica. Blessings, Carol
Denise, I’m newer to wig wearing, not even a year in yet. I have a few Renee of Paris wigs and am thinking about taking a step up in quality…. What brands would you recommend? Thank you!!!
No. There are far too many who need help, I was one of them! If someone laughs then they just don't understand what it is like to suffer form hair loss and feel so alone and I hope they never do.
@ Pretty much my big concern is being laughed at. It sounds silly maybe but my first husband would have laughed at me til I died. Not laugh at my wig but to laugh at my hair loss and how it makes me less than. I’m working on it. I’ll get there. 🙂

That's a great concept. Thanks for sharing. Hope you report back to answer questions. 🤓

I’ll use a wig grip only when I’m flying and have to go through the TSA screen. I reserve a wig without clips sewn in for those occasions. It does take trial and error to find out what works best.
Thank you so much for explaining so much here. I am on my first wig... it's hard!! Awhile new thing just as you say. Brilliant Denise ❤
Thanks, Denise! Great info, as always.
I need to send you one of my wigs for a custom cut…. I love the way you style yours
Thank you for all your help. God Bless you!❤
Yes the Velcro was itchy
Such an informative video 💞
You are a Godsend Denise! 😇
Luv you ❤❤❤
I like the silicone grip but it can irritate my skin
Where can i buy that little comb to sew in at the back?
That wig looks great on you
Please send the link for the hair grip.
Thank for this video I am glad I found you.
I am fairly new to this and have yet to wear one out.
I get encouragement from you.
What wig are you wearing, I love it
You can do it! Hugs!
Oh, and I put the details of this wig in the description.
I didn't see the link for how to shave your head?
You look great. Question: lost most of my hair due to brain tumor, brain surgery, radiation, chemo and meds. No hair in front. Spotty everywhere else. I wear wigs. Should i just let go and shave my head bald?
I have that top grip too
Love wig grips
I just bought it stays
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that style AND color except I am a very small head 20 1/2. Any suggestions of something similar in color and style?
I bought Wavy Day in SS Cappucino and sent it back because it was big and wrong color.
Carrie also comes in petite
I have short bio hair. Can I use that got 2 be ? But where would I spray ? Please answer if you can. 🙏 and ❤❤
Im struggling with the wig feeling like its riding up
wig gals - I'm gong to a concert in my wig and will be hot and sweaty due to dancing...thoughts on what product ...not sure the water adhesive ones will survive ?
❤❤❤
Attention ! le velcro gratte la tête, que vous ayez des cheveux ou pas !
Were you ever afraid people would laugh at you?
