I wanna say. I was torn between oscilloscopes. I've had several experiences where I have needed to check for Can Bus, 3 phase fuel pump or some other application of looking at rapidly varying voltage. I was JUST about to pick up a MicSig tablet scope after seeing Super Mario, then (blessedly) I stumbled across your channel. Watching you accomplish what you do with that little hand held 2 channel caused me to re analyze what my needs actually are. Just wanted to say thanks!
This is my go to for most quick signals that I don't have to analyze to closely. The Micsig would be nice for cam and crank correlations and in cylinder transducer readings, But I already have a Pico for that so I cant justify another $1k just because I'm lazy to pull out the pico.
Lmao I'm really glad you decided to post this. I sometimes see a lot of advanced technicians (yourself, Ivan) sometimes go down these holes and use all these advanced testing techniques 1st.....I was helping another tech remotely the other day. Replaced an alternator, still wasn't charging. (Did you do your voltage drop tests? Did you check the smart charging system and make sure PCM is commanding alternator on? Did you check the diodes on the new alternator? After walking him through all of that I go there and the belt is routed wrong.....always keep it simple 1st! Thank you for your videos.
Guy at work last week did a blend door a actuator in an 11 F150, the whole dash and heater box have to come out for this truck. He does the job and the blend doors not working. So I go over there and help him out for like over an hour testing the circuit, making sure the modules working, etc. You can’t get to the blend door or pigtail but we tried manually activating the actuator from the back of the module and still couldn’t get anything so we’re thinking broken wiring. Randomly I go “dude there’s no way you put the old actuator back in it right?” He walks over to the trash can and pulls out a brand new actuator sitting in the can 😂😂
@@2491kridge hahaha not sure if you guys laughed or cried when you found the new one in the garbage....at least tare down is still fresh in his mind. Ford tech? Maybe you can help me on this one. 14 f150 3.5 Ecoboost. Crank code p0322. No start after hot soak. To test crank signal w/ a pico @ the crank is near impossible....next best place PCM. According to wiring diagram it's a shared return signal with both cam signals.....never seen that. What do I expect to see and how do I single out the crank signal. Thanks
Thanks for the video. Looks like another body shop hack job. As for your locks you can buy weatherproof padlocks which have rubber seals for the shackle holes and lock core, and usually a plastic lock body cover. They prevent the water ingress that’s locking you out. Just don’t confuse weather resistant with weatherproof, the resistant ones won’t all or always keep water out.
thanks for all your informative videos. i really appreciate that, there is always something to learn from. On one of your clips you were checking a back up camera with a cctv tester, how did you modify the the cable to be able to to check the camera? Thanks in advance.
Lots of these cars with radar and windshield camera have comm for windshield camera coming through radar module. toyota and nissan are similar. Honda calls the radar and winshield camera "integrated driver assist" and you'll usually find them split into camera and radar after loading in. Best of luck
Nice diag. I have the Otofix D1 and it's painful to use because of how slow it is. Updates are super slow as well. My Thinktool Pros and Launch X431 update very quickly and are pretty fast when connected to the vehicle. The D1 also would not auto ID a 2007 Mustang GT that I used it on recently and I had to manually enter the VIN while the X431 auto ID'd it. I'm sure the Pros would have as well. For these reasons, I don't use the D1 that often.
I worked on a 19 Accord that a rat had gotten in engine compartment and chewed the cam sensor wire. I was kinda shocked how similar the Honda Accord and a say 2024 BMW 228i that I had as a loaner were similar. The HVAC and also the instrument cluster are very similar.
I was born in Wisconsin home of -30 wind chill . They used to sell a lock deicer worked pretty good. But I moved to Texas no more frozen or rusted anything 😉
I got the xtool D8 almost 3 years ago.. and it did NOT come with topology.. but then about a year later, it suddenly had topology after doing one of the updates. Also, you could only graph one thing at a time.. Or you could "combine" 5 things on one graph.. Which were both kinda terrible.. and then another update made it to where it could at least run 6 mini graphs on one screen. So that was a huge improvement. It's really weird that they would take away topology though, if it came with it originally...... Unless it wasn't actually released yet, and you just had a developer prototype or something, to test........ I got the D8 for seven hundred (with 3 years free updates; but that was 3 years ago now).. I've seen it since, on sales for well under 500 sometimes.. It's definitely worth it for that price, if you can find it anymore. I see that they really only offer the D8s now, which has more battery and more ram and a few other things.. The software looks a bit different now too - with the "all blue" color scheme. so it's back up to the higher price range.
WOW,,, IT WOULD BE GOOD TO KNOW WHAT ALL MODULUS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON ANY GIVEN VEHICLE .I ONLY WISH A SCANTOOL COMPANY WOULD COME OUT WITH THAT FEATURE EVEN IF JUST FOR THE MOST POPULAR VEHICLE BRANDS . THANKS FOR THE VIDEO AND YOUR TIME !!!👍🏼
ACC (active cruise control) uses front radar which this vehicle is equipped for. I do electrical on crashed damaged vehicles on a daily basis and the "repairs" that you see boggles my mind. There is a lot of mentality of "she'll be right" attitude.
@@advancedleveldiagnostics Thanks! There's someone in Philly that's been to a shop 3 times for repeated ignition coil failures in cyl #3. The coil fails every few thousand miles. I don't think the shop knows how to diagnose it properly. I will give him your UA-cam channel name so he can contact you in case this new coil fails.
Hahahaha > ripping the whole car apart >“Y is the car not functioning? 😭“ Yeah; no clue at all. ヽ(。_°)ノ At least you finally got the answer WHY there are all the codes :D
People really mess their vehicles up (or other people's)... by cutting into wiring and screwing everything all up with aftermarket garbage or just plain stupidity.
I see the Otofix D1 lite is on sale on eBay for $255! ebay.us/EHlnn8
On Honda all the Adas stuff will be under vehicle driving support on the scanner

In my experience Ockhams Razor is the most overseen issue… you are absolut right. If you got the basics wrong, you get an serious problem.
The issue is he’s going in after someone’s already messed it up

My tester has a BNC connector, so I just use my oscilloscope lead on it.

Maybe next time they'll let me in from the beginning 😉

I'm an automotive locksmith in Florida. The number of frozen locks I have seen is zero so my advice is to move down here. :) Merry Christmas!
🤣🤣 That would definitely solve the problem!
No frozen locks here but still freaking cold. 28degrees a week ago here in fl. I miss south fl
We had real frigid temps in So Fl for a couple days. It got into the 50’s. Nobody should be subjected to that. :)
@@scotts4125haha 50 sunrise fl is where I’m from. I loved to Ocala 14 years ago it was 9degrees I about died.

i spray all my locks with silicone oil. lasts for over a year under all weather conditions in Wisconsin.
Awesome I will try that, Thanks!
I was thinking something similar, like applying a specific grease.
Happy Holidays from NNJ! I've had good luck with lock-ease lube to prevent frozen padlocks.
Thanks, I just ordered it!
what tool did you use to check to see if camera was trying to com?
It is a pocket 2 channel oscilliscope

fluid film works better than anything else Iv'e tried for locks year round. Upstate NY
Fluid Film for locks. Won't freeze and keeps things moving.
I’ve had rust from it. Seems like it won’t but still did
Merry Christmas
Same to you!
I wonder if you would have gotten topology if you hit the "automatic scan' button to the right of the 'pre/post scan' button you hit.
I tried that still no topology.
