The old pump wad remove quickly. Always match mark a new system. And adjust timing the same way for cams. Always time the pressure pump to the cam timing to the crank to index and in relationship to piston rotation. Take the extra 4 seconds to follow removal in good order too.
The variable control for the alternator sometimes lets the running battery voltage get under 12v we usually depin the wire for the alternator to extend battery life. These QX56s and Armadas go through batteries like no one’s business
Chuck, it looks like it took a lot of people to this one running right. Sounds like this car might not be completely fixed yet. I guess I'd rather not see it in my shop. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Worked on a lot of these over the years at Nissan. Don’t really think I’ve ever came across the fuel pressure too high issue tho. Our tests are quite stupid honestly. Either it’s the pump or harness/connector issue. It’s a quick and dirty test but unplugging the solenoid on the hp should cause the solenoid to revert back to bypass and the pressure should drop to around whatever the low side pressure is not really a sound testing method but it’s a quick way to find out if your mechanically screwed
I still get confused on the high pressure gdi pumps. does the pwm signal cusse the pump to increase pressure or decrease pressure. it seems ever vehicle is different
2011, smart alternator?, turn on some loads when not charging to see if it starts to charge, its smart, done. Thanks for the FIX. I know timing is an issue for high pressures.
It was a smart charging alternator, and it started acting up again later. The shop owner cut the wire from the IDPM and the alternator started fully charging.
Do you by chance have a website or maybe do a consultancy via phone/video call using patreon or something? Asking because I have autel with bidirectional and ecu coding with 40 diagnostic functions and other tools but right now chasing a gremlin that spawned because a mogwai was fed after midnight. Crank no start, showing no codes, replaced coil pack, icm, generator, crank x3 sensor, cam sensor, plugs, wires, has 42ish psi at the fuel rails, and contunuity to ground on the harness connection points. Bcm codes show low voltage on a few lights so thinking bcm issue but everything seems to work when i command activation on different components so still not sure. It was running fine and suddenly started to hesitate and sputter then died. 2002 impala 3.4L LA1 vin E. Any thoughts on what i can check to confirm its bcm as FSM doesnt mention BCM as a potential crank no start issue, but does the pcm.
I know I'm not just chucking no camshaft are sprocket in it. I don't like to waste my time so I guess that's a good thing... I'm sure not chucking no high pressure fuel pump in it. Again I don't like to waste my time taking all that apart...
They replaced the sensor after you told them it was ok, LOL, they know better why did they hire you? What is the name of that shop, donkey auto repair? Do they sport snap-on dunce hats?
@@s.j.5850 I think you are correct; I have worked at shops in the past where the owners mission every day was to prove me wrong, the idiots did me a favor without realizing it because it made me better at diagnosing, then the complaint was that I was taking too long. Now when I go to shops to diagnose problem cars, as soon as they act like idiots I leave and block the number. So, I agree with you that whoever the donkey was who replaced the sensor wanted to prove this man wrong to satisfy his ego.
@@rodvan-zeller6360 I hear you Rodvan, there are haters everywhere. People with low self-esteem will try to put people down for being qualified and/or exceptional. When you're a good tech you can always find a job or open your own shop, or even do mobile service. Fleet work can also be an option for techs fed up with the flat rate system.
New nissans have it too. Even with AutoAuth, i still cant talk to new new nissans. My dealer sells nationwide via online portal. We see 35k and 40k 2 year old cars ALL THE TIME. I personally pay for AutoAuth on my autel 808. Still no comms with new nissans. I think they are trying to hide their variable compression engine data.
You have to keep up, that's why it's called 'Advanced Level Diagnostics'. He is basically looking for power, grounds, & signal. Since the electrical aspects were good he moved on to the mechanical side.
amzn.to/3BHorhy I think this one is still the best bang for your buck. The downside is it's pretty slow. The one I'm using in this video is a lot faster.

you are on another level of diagnostics i learn so much everytime ,i hope to see your videos ASAP you are that good man .exceptional tech
Appreciate that! I'm glad you find them helpful.
I was yelling at the screen. Its under the scan tool!! Lol. Good find.
Lol, I cut out about 10 min of me looking for it🤣
Great vid. Can't believe the shop just chucked the HP fuel pump in without checking to see if there is a specific way to install it.
GOOD JOB STICKING WITH IT. YOU ALWAYS FIND THE CAUSE.
Thanks for watching!
Another good video. I enjoy trying to keep up with your diagnosis, gets me to stay sharp and/or do some more homework on the subject.
Appreciate you watching!
I had no idea that the timing of the pump cam lobe mattered. Worth knowing!
Oh it very much matters just as if a water pump that’s time driven being clocked in the wrong position also can cause a fault.
Thanks for watching!
Great job as always!! Love the content as always!! I'm always learning something from your channel!! Happy Holiday!!
You too Jeff, Thanks for Watching!
Awesome vid! Good job seeing it through!
Thanks!

I don't do the actual repairs just the diagnostics, But thanks for the tip!

I think Jake on the Automotive Diagnostics & Programming channel encountered the same issue.
He did, But his was before the replacement of the lobe, it was worn out.
Yes, Indeed
as always great fix super fast .
Thanks 👍

Crazy good video

We do that trick often on these QX56/ Armadas

Battery on its last leg; put in new battery… intermittent alternator light will go off..
Very possible but this car is out of my life🤣
@ I would never buy a Nissan car: except for the 1980s hardbody trucks …

What a clown show on that car.
Your all over the place. No real plan for understanding what your doing. You move too fast from one thing to another.
@d1bergman There’s literally no one else faster on youtube as far as diagnosing problems goes than this guy. Not even close

I don't think he is trying to teach. Just show his process.
