Blooming is still well controlled but its hard to show in this vs video and I didnt want to stop the flow of the music with overblown camera shots. Ill have a high setting in the future on the Neo. Hey Vic, which monitor do you think is best for shooters on Xbox Series X? I mainly only play Apex Legends at 120fps and I believe it’s 1440p at 120fps in game and upscales to 4k. I’d like to have no blur and highest frames to 120 without crazy drops. It would have to have hdmi 2.1 of course. I dont believe the Neo G8 would be the answer. If you would give your top three monitors for this, that would be great.
VIC!!!!!!!!! i JUST BOUGHT THE G8 mini led after watching, All my monitors I buy you give me the best breakdown thank you,,, my 1st OLED was 34 ultra wide G8 but it was too dark IMO retuned it, Ive seen many people complain about the Darkness (in my circle) for oleds, I play COD completive so dont care about color but I bought a 4090 so i can move to 4k, but prefer a brighter monitor, also ive heard even the 20-30% brighter LG panel Asus coming later in the year is matte and not that much better than the current back ordered ones, hope i made the right decision it was only 899 brand new from amazon so we will see.. thanks again
The blooming on neo g8 is bad. Really bad. I had it and returned, beside scanlines and troubles waking up the monitor. I remember struggle getting into bios cause i had no image. I even bought a dp 2.1 1m cable certified with thoughts it will make difference. No. Also the coating being so aggresice it dirts the screen. Tomorrow my aw3225qf arrive
Could you do another comparison between the 2 but in HDR and show the differences between the LD settings, like with a dark scene and a bright light? I heard when you use High LD it suppresses highlights for darker dark areas, has tighter control of the back-light for more detail/definition and better blooming control and if you use Low LD highlights are brighter in darker scenes (though less bright for brighter scenes) and shadow detail is better but has more blooming and less definition/detail. But Low LD seems to read alot lower for max HDR brightness on HWUB review of the G7.....I was just wondering if you could setup the G8 to match the picture quality of the QD-OLED as close as possible for SD/APL/highlights and see how close a ~1200 zone 32" Mini-LED can get in real HDR content! If possible. 😀
Thank you very much for these comparisons. I have the NEO G8 and was thinking of selling it, but I don't see an over whelming difference to justify the financial loss for when I want those higher refresh rates. It isn't my main monitor. That is the Dell UltraSharp 32 6K Monitor - U3224KB which is a black IPS panel and has much superior resolution, HDR and brightness compared to the NEO G8. It however only has a 60Hz refresh rate. But I'd rather game at 60HZ than give up those benefits. BTW did they resolve the 240 Hz blockiness of the NEO G8 with a firmware update? Thanks again for the excellent work.
Id love to try the G8 BUT I am SUPER sensitive to black smearing. Ive yet to see a VA panel with 0 smearing like my LG 32GQ950-B Whats your thought on the smearing Victor?
I have the older G7 (non neo) and I don't notice any smearing, the panel is extremely fast, if I remember correctly the NEO G8 is about as fast and it has even less overshoot at higher overdrive levels. If Samsung releases an updated Neo G8 with DP 2.1 I would buy it in an instant.
Hey Victor, thanks for this video. I received my LG GS 27" yesterday, man I'm really disappointed. The remote responsiveness is terrible, and man I thought a Ultra gear GP3 sound speaker I have would work through the headphone jack and they do not. What is with all these companies with either no speakers and making it difficult. I was getting the new Alienware at one point, I didn't pull the trigger because of the eArc crap. What happened to just being able to use external speakers? SMH. Sorry for the rant, I wanted to ask you, can you hook speakers up to the G8?

@@DisplayReality I bought neo g7 after your videos. Coating is very heavy and noticeable.. how bad is g8 I can't imagine, probably I'm very sensitive to this. Btw on my g7 2k coating was not so bad.
I think its personal preference, tried both, and both have strengths. I am disgusted by the blooming when I see it and it does have a bit of VA black smearing (though almost nonexistent, literally the fastest VA panel I've seen). It can get brighter of course, qd oled just can't get the same brightness level at 100% window size, but it can get it in smaller regions and you get no blooming. Overall I prefer(and bought) the qd oled, feels amazing, and also in HDR, mini LED adds input lag because it has to run an algorithm to control the backlight properly(not sure if its the same in sdr mode too) and I use HDR almost everywhere I can. In any case I am coming from a 1440p IPS panel so both are insanely good monitors and whichever you buy you will not be disappointed, it just comes down to personal preference.
None OLEDs really smash it with that brightness, at some point blooming should be a wash for content but that brightness will always be noticeable. both great!
Tell me if im looking at this wrong. 1. I like that the samsung has an audio jack and blue tooth. Does the dell have it? 2. Samsung can go much brighter. Is the dell bright enough tho? My room is right beside a window so im worried dell wont be bright enough since it has a glossy finish. 3. With some tweeking, can the Samsung come looking as good as the dell? In conclusion, the blue tooth, jack and brightness plus the 1000r curve points to Samsung as the winner. Now dell has better color. But if Samsung can be tweeked to look as good or atleast closer, Does that mean samsung is still better?
You can tweak everything on the Samsung. In sdr and hdr modes. Color, saturation, contrast enhancer, local dimming. Alot of options are open. Tho the Dell is nice. Creator mode is really good. I love creator mode. As long as you dont have the dell in front of a window, on the side its still great

For this video the main difference is local dimming. Low or high its up to you and contrast enhancer on or off. Try this: Custom, black equalizer 12 or 13. 100 brightness (even 80 is still nice an punchy), contrast 70, sharpness 48, gamma mode 2. Color standard or warm 1.
I still want qd OLED but I thought I wanted the HP omen but it only has UHBR10 not the full UHBR20 that the gigabyte has but I'm not so sure because I only hear bad things about gigabyte
It seems nowadays every brand has issues on different things. Sometimes my Aorus firmware does not even register. Lol tough times for sure. These monitors should come ready to go.. for prices we pay..
Yes but the Neo is not at full power as the highlights would blowout and blooming would appear a small bit. Sdr nits on the AW is at 270nits while the Neo is 310 in most full white scenese with local dimming off or low.

@@Superdazzu2 I just started recording in HDR. I will re do these. But many ppl want these monitors but cannot use HDR as windows is hit or miss. I can easuly see even in this video the OLED advantage in certain situations. But yes HDR is where these both are at max. Ill get to it soon. This video was only is sdr so i need to find a cool new hdr made video.
The lg black levels hdr video (the one with teapot, honey etc) could be good for testing haloing, black levels and highlights, meanwhile the hdr costa rica video can be good to test color popping and high abl brightness@@DisplayReality
As someone who played AW2 on a QD OLED for almost all of the game and finished on a mini LED with a 1152 zones... I can safely say QD OLED wins even though its not as bright in larger scenes. I lost so much nits in smaller highlights, the colours didnt really compare either. I mean you are talking 1196 zones vs 8.3million and even with a great dimming algorithm it just cannot compete. It has to either let blooming be noticeable or dim the area enough to not notice it. Which then equals way less brightness on small highlights ( which are everywhere in games ) So OLED wins overall, nvm all the other benefits of OLED. That said Mini LED has its place, its a great middle ground and you wont have to deal with burn in at all. You get real HDR as well and that extra contrast from the local dimming makes a huge difference over normal LED monitors.
Local Dimming Neo G8: is set to Low (to give you an Idea of the max brightness of the AW3225QF and to keep blooming at a minimum) both 100 brightness.
So if it's on High, the neo G8 is overbloomed?

Brightness is not only about luminosity but it affects the colour reproduction too. Making the colors looking more natural on the G8.

Well this Neo has the fastest VA I have seen. But even here the VA still has a very small smear/trail. Its the best but not Nano IPS clear.

First how is the picture? But a 3.5mm headphone port is there but you want speakers? Ill see with mine. These have dts enhanced audio for headphones.

Neo G7 will give you everything you need. The 240hz is noce on the G8 but it also has a stronger matte coating while the Neo G7 is semi matte.

I have not felt any. I have used it about 2 months now. No issues for me.
My gf has a 4k OLED and I always find myself straining quicker than my 1080p monitor just my opinion
